Work-from-home-moms (WAHM) / moms with home-based jobs

Hello, just wondering if there are moms here like me who work from home. I've been working from home for 6 years, I just had my baby 2 months ago. I used to work for long hours pero ngayon nahihirapan ako. I'm back to work na, kahit nasa bahay ang hirap pala kapag may newborn. We have a helper pero shempre ako pa din kay baby wala ako halos matapos. Ang challenging pala.

Any tips from other WAHMs how to balance family and work time? :-) TIA

Hi Mommy!

I'm a WAHM, too. Been doing this for more than 2 years, since I got pregnant. I think mas madali sakin nung newborn pa ang baby ko. Ngayon, it's really more challenging. Sometimes, I feel like I'm going crazy! Eventually I've learned na you just have to choose your battles, eat right, work hard BUT play harder, and say a lot of prayers :)

I'm learning to enjoy it mommy, kasi nagiging creative din ako to find solutions. To keep me sane, I really set time for myself. I read books, I talk and go out with my friends, I travel.. I just do what I love to do!

Thanks for your reply.  :)  How do you do it? Pano ang sked mo? Ilang taon na si baby mo now? Kasi ako I used to work from 9am-6pm, although flexi ang sked ko, I prefer to work during those times. Now, ang hirap may kasambahay pa kami ha.

I'm a WAHM too pero newbie pa lang. Mas madali nung newborn kase breastfeed ko sya tulog after pag nagising same drill. Pero now mas naghahanap na sya ng play time. Minsan pag pinatulog iiling pa ayaw pa daw nya.

I'm a newbie WAHM. Few months pa lang and I'm also just about to give birth anytime now. Kasi i believe na kahit work from home ang isang mommy, it's still work, lalo na kung full 8hrs ang work mo. Kaya hindi pa din possible na all the time mababantayan si baby. Kaya ako sabi ko kay husband even if I work from home, I need someone to look after the baby while I'm working. Our plan is to have my mom/MIL in rotation to help us sa first few months ni baby until maka establish ako ng routine. Good thing is flexi sched din ang work ko and I have to option to work minimum of 2 hours to a max of 12 hrs per day.

I still have to see pagdating ni baby what will work for us.

Also, don't hesitate to ask for help from friends, families. Naniniwala talaga ako na it takes a village to raise a child. Mahirap pag mag isa lang tapos may work hours pa.

Hi there, I've been a WAHM for almost 3 years. My work sched starts at 6am to lunch and then late afternoon to about evening.

Inasmuch as I don't want to work this many hours, I need to because I work for a company that has a no work, no pay policy. I want to keep positive and not dwell on the reality that I'm overworked and underpaid. Iniisip ko na lang it's better than working at a call center na mas mababa ang sweldo.

I'm thankful that I work from home, can see my hubby and kids, can attend to them during breaks, etc. I have a flexible schedule so I can go on holiday too. Overall, thankful ako na I have this job. It makes me feel smart and powerful (girl power  ;D )

Oh and wala akong maid or yaya for 2 years na  ;)

@simang hi sis! work from home ka din pala. Ako kasi wala, pero I took 2 weeks leave. Before 8-10 hours a day ako nagwowork noong kami pa lang ni hubby, pero nakakakilos pa ako sa bahay, cooking at hugas ng pinggan. Weekend ako naglilinis ng bahay. Now mahirap, may helper kami and my mom comes to our house to cook for us.

@mommyxthree I know! the struggle is real...I can relate sa no work no pay so I have to work as early as 2 weeks postpartum. Can you give us some advice pano i-balance?

Hi sis andy, yep, few months pa lang kaya nangangapa pa ako on how to manage yung house and work at home. Wala kaming helper so I do most chores din, laba, luto, linis. Buti na lang my husband is very domestic so minsan he does the chores din lalo na sa kitchen. Wala din kaming ML, and also no work no pay. I plan to take a leave for a month maximum, depende sa magiging setup namin pagdating ni baby. Pero like you, I'm also thinking of going back to work ASAP kasi nga sayang ang pay. Right now I still work pero max of 6 hrs a day na lang. Hopefully makapagwork ako agad after giving birth kahit 4 hrs a day lang.

I've been a WAHM since last year. I decided to resign from my previous work kasi my baby has been breastfeeding since birth so it's more convenient if parehas kami sa bahay lang. Thank God ang nakukuha kong contracts eh flexi sched. I'm a freelancer and I don't think I can go on full time since I have a toddler na kelangan ng habulin unlike when she was still a newborn na iwanan ko lang na tulog sa crib (still within my reach, of course) eh makakpag-work na ko. Sometimes pa she's more clingy kapag she sees na I'm busy working.

Mahirap na madali. Sometimes I want to give up kasi there are times na mas hindi ako nakakagawa especially when she's clingy unlike sa office na concentrate ka lang talaga sa work plus may socialization pa with other people and pwede mo na rin "me time", but seeing her grow up na wala kong namimiss na milestones, it's worth it for me.

I made sure na lang na we set a routine talaga. Whenever she's asleep dun ako gagawa lahat. Sometimes naman I have my mom and sister with me and my husband looking after my toddler kapag walang pasok so I get to work more. Sanayan lang talaga. Okay na din kasi I get to earn by myself kahit well provided naman kami ng husband ko. It feels so good na may pumapasok sa bank account ko at the same time I still get to take care of my baby, full time. 😁

WAHM here for 2 years already. Now medyo mahina ang work ko as homebased kaya nakikipaglaro ako sa kanya at night. Sa daytime doon muna siya sa helper to do other things to her like feeding, watching Baby TV, sleeping at afternoon tapos feeding dinner then take a bath again. Advantage rin yung naipagswimming lesson ko siya 2x a week tapos hindi pa summer time kaya nung minsan 7 session niya solo student lang siya as in walang kasabay.

not a work from home mom pero kulang kinikita ko sa day job so I have to leave the office early everyday para paguwi pwede pa rumaket. kahit may yaya na mahirap pa rin magconcentrate kasi lapit pa rin ng lapit sakin, gusto magpakarga, gusto manood ng youtube sa pc, etc. so I ask yaya to take baby outside. or minsan pagtulog na si baby ng 9PM, I work for two hours before I go to bed.

Minsan naman pinatutulog ko muna then back to work.

I do hope makahanap din ako ng sideline na homebased. I have an 8-5 job at the moment but like most of our sisses, kelangan to double the efforts para kumita. Hirap naman kumuha ng jobs from Upwork and other online sites lalo na if beginner pa lang.

Been working from home din since 2011, i got 3 kids, and no yaya talaga ako eversince I decided to work from home.

Multi tasking, sis. In between breaks, do house chores. Ask help from your family members (hubby and kids, maid/s).  Keep yourself hydrated with water. And get enough sleep  ;)

Humihinto talaga ako sandali sa work kapag umiiyak si baby, I informed my boss about it and he is aware of it. Hindi ako breastfeed since hindi talaga nag lactate so more on bottle feed. Chances are lagi ako 12 hours magwork everyday may mga hinto hinto rin yun like kain and ligo. Regarding naman sa chores, usually the Lola is doing it naman. Tapos kapag weekend saka ko nilalabhan yung ibang mga damit ni baby and other more.

Since I am working at Australian time, meron akong ka team na nagwowork sa morning saka sa mga urgent jobs, I already informed him my possible situation.
