But now I can't explained the feeling if I am happy or not because I finally have plans to resign and finally committed that I will be with my family especially for my daughter. I am a Single Mom. There are times when certain big events happen in our lives, parang nakakatamad na mag work.

I went through the same and I think going through some of it right now. Perhaps you can think about it muna for 3-6 months. If unsure, don't make a Bold move muna, until you are definitely 100% sure.

@TS if you resign where will you get your source of funds para buhayin ang daughter mo?

i'm also a single mom and of course it's best if you can be with your child all day long. kung may mag su-support naman financially this is possible. pero eventually you will need to have your own career. kung pwede ka mag work from home or mag freelance so you can have the best of both worlds why not do it.

at the end of the day it's about your priorities. kung ano ang mas importante sayo and what you can live without. kung kaya mo maging content being with your child and settle for whatever funds that will come your way then so be it. but in the long run kasi mas ok pa rin yung financially ma secure mo ang future niya. na makabili kayo ng sarili niyong bahay and car etc. iba pa rin kasi ang may trabaho. i know of so many moms who would rather stay home with their kids but can't because they have bills to pay and financial obligations to fulfill.

^I am the only child of a single mom and I would like to tell you my mom's story.

My mom was quite lucky because during the period when her income is not yet enough for both of us, my grandparents took care of me and paid for my studies in private schools in our province. My mother did not stop working though. She even took on further studies so that she can increase her earning potential and save funds to buy a house for both of us.

She goes home to my grandparents' house about twice a month. We wrote letters to each other though snail mail. During summer vacations, she takes me to Manila so we can have quality time. I developed independence. I answered my own homeworks, studied on my own without a tutor and made my own projects by saving money from my allowance. I remember one of my birthdays when I woke up to see only a gift-wrapped present with a letter from my mom. She left early in the morning because she had to go back to work in Manila. I cried and told her in a letter that I do not need a present, I only need her.

My mother realized that she cannot afford to send me to a decent private school for my high school education. To save money on tuition fee, she looked for government-run high schools that only cater to few students.

Before finishing grade school, she arranged for me to be able to take entrance exams to science high schools in Manila. I passed the  entrance exams in the two schools where I took them. At the age of 13, my mother took me from the care of my grandparents. My mom and I established our own home in Manila (she has saved up money to buy a relative's house).

My mom continued to study while working. She was able to send me to college because I passed the entrance exam of a state university.

We live far from the university. Everyday, my mother prepared my lunch before going to work so that I can get by with my meager allowance. She bought a bicycle to save on transportation expenses. There were days when I see her wallet with only about P50.00 in it.

She strived hard for both of us. She took the bar several times. My mother became a lawyer on the day after I graduated from college.

Since it is also a dream of mine become a lawyer, my mom got a GSIS loan to finance my first semester in law school.

Classes in law school began at 530pm and end at around 830 or 930 depending on the number of units from Monday to Friday. On Saturdays, we had classes for an entire day. On my second semester, I began looking for work because I realized that I have a lot of idle time on weekdays and felt that I could help my mom finance my law school education by earning my own income.

I got a job at a government agency and continued to study law as a regular student. I began working full-time while studying on a regular class schedule as well. My work began at 8 and ended at 430. I only had an hour to travel to school. I tried very hard to do well in class despite the obstacles. I was happy because I was able to lift some burden off my mother's shoulders. She continued to pay for my books though.

Everyday, I feel tired. My mom supported me and encouraged me to go to school. Even on days that I failed to finish the required readings. She urged me to continue my studies everyday. Each day, she promised that law school will soon be over before I know it. I finished law school at the top of my class.

When I took the bar, she went with me for 4 Sundays and still prepared my lunch.

On the day that the Supreme Court announced the results of the exam, my mom and I drove in her second-hand car to personally look at the list of successful examinees. When we saw my name on the list, I hugged my mom and jumped for joy. It was then that I told her that I offer my achievement to her and she shed tears of joy. All our hardwork paid off.

A few years later, my mom sold her old car and gave me some money to buy my own car. She then bought a new car for herself. She said she chose a white sedan because she wants me to ride that car when I finally get married.

Several months later, my then boyfriend of eight years, showed me a ring and proposed marriage. I rode my mother's white car on my wedding day. Now, I am several months away from being a mother myself.

In a few weeks, my husband and I will be moving to our brand new home. My mother will be staying with us. She is still working but is only a couple of years short before she hits the golden age of 60. When the time comes, it will be my turn to take care and prepare meals for her.

I hope our story inspires you to strive harder for your child. To have big dreams for her and to dream with her.

^ how inspiring your story sis..thanks for sharing :)

isn't it that we all single moms want to just stay and take care of our kid(s)/family..but we have responsibilities and cannot really depend on anyone else but ourselves. just strive to give the best we can for our kid's future, and still be there for them guiding them..everything will be worth it in the end :)

^sisses momentum, iam_me, ivyn, and reighnyielle, thank you.

i shared my story so that TS will realize that continuing to work and pursuing her dreams will not make her a bad mother. momentum is right, almost all the mothers who continue to work do so not only for themselves, but more importantly, for their child/ren.

Working does not mean you did not choose your family or that your family is no longer your first priority. Working means you want to ensure a better future for your child. You want to be able to give more and if possible, the best that you can. The important thing is that you know why you are doing it. And of course, never forget to spend quality time with your child. Little by little, teach your child the significance of your efforts. If you can do that, then she will not take your efforts for granted.

ivyn
, you know what, looking back, at the time when we did not have much money, I never heard my mother complain even during enrolment time. She was always ready with the money for my tuition.

reignyielle, glad that my story inspired you. Sometimes, we do not know that what we have are more than what other people can only hope for.

Kahit mahaba story pero interesting at kakaiyak pati pero Congrats ha you finished on top of your class despite of hardships. I am equally happy if I had a mother like you but then I was abandoned and left to the care of my grandparents that's why I have no love lost with my mother. I have no regrets after all being left alone, I too had struggled in life but I persevered and was able to achieve my goals after I received an offer to work abroad and the rest is history as they say.

^ your mom is a model Mom. To think sa panahon na iyon, Hindi pa gaano accepted din ang single mothers. It was a struggle being the Mom and dad as it is, dagdagan mo pa ng challenging environment etc.

And yes TS, take this story as an inspiration. Seeing your kid/s grow up well can give you more courage and fighting spirit to face life's battles.
