And again, I am refuting a false statement na kulelat ang bansa natin sa economy dahil hindi sya totoo. Kulelat is a comparative term. Iba sya sa sabihin na mahirap pa rin bansa natin or third world pa din which are true. Pero pag sinabi mong kulelat, it is comparing with other countries na worse off tayo compared sa kanila na again, hindi totoo kung based pa sa GDP or growth rate or dami ng mahihirap or dami ng walang trabaho. Ang pagmamahal sa bansa natin ay nasa puso which overflows into our words. Salamat.

^mei-mei, since you're an economist, maybe you can comment on something I've heard and read. I've been wanting to get insights of an actual economist about this. Our economy is doing well right now because of GMA, she focused on the economy and Aquino is actually taking credit of what GMA's hard work.

^fyi, ricardo saludo is part of the GMA cabinet. Manila Times is also known a pro-GMA, pro-Marcos and anti-Aquino daily. May bias na kaagad. I'd like to see if there's are any other sources aside from Manila Timas who attributes the economic gains to GMA.

^^ I'm not asking you to change your vote or even to rationalize your choice. Choice mo yan and hindi kita pinapakialaman. I'm just asking you that when you make statements, please be careful to stick to the facts. Tayong mga Filipinos, masyado tayong emotional so it's easy for us to make emotional statements. Pero if you will work in other countries or work with other nationalities, just a tip to be mindful of your statements. Ang mga ibang lahi, lalo na from the first world countries, wala silang paki how emotional you can get. They will always look at your credibility based on how factual your statements are.

I agree with you sis. Sa FACTS lang po tayo. :D

Sorry if off-topic but since you've asked :) I've found this editorial from Tribune last October 2015 but it mainly was based on Moody's report.

http://www.tribune.net.ph/commentary/editorial/moody-s-sets-noynoy-straight

Quote
It has been the primary spin of Noynoy through his “daang matuwid” (straight path) catchphrase that all reforms including those involving the fiscal system were all initiated under his term.
The main claim was that fiscal transparency initiated by his Rasputin, Budget Secretary Butch Abad, resulted in making the government more responsive to the needs of Filipinos.

Not so, says international credit watchdog Moody’s Investors Service which said in a recent report on the Philippines that it was during the term of former President Gloria Arroyo, who has been under detention on alleged irregularities for nearly the entire term of Noynoy, without any conviction which the United Nations recently brought up with the government.

Noynoy specifically noted that reforms initiated under his administration had led to the country obtaining investment grade from key credit rating agencies that, aside from Moody’s are Fitch Ratings and Standard and Poor’s.

The Moody’s report, however, acknowledged the Arroyo administration for having started the institutional reforms in the government of which in effect Noynoy has been the beneficiary.
“Many of these changes resulted from a public financial management reform drive that was first mooted during the administration of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in the mid-2000s,” Moody’s said.

Among reforms that Moody’s cited as having been initiated during the term of Arroyo were “institutional improvements” including “performance-informed” budgeting that has improved expenditure oversight, various tax administration measures that have boosted compliance, and enhanced procurement processes that have led to cost savings.

Moody’s also called the attention of Noynoy that several measures that would have “institutionalized” reforms were not prioritized during his term such as the Public Financial Management Bill, the pending Tax Incentive Management and Transparency Act, or the revisions to the Build Operate Transfer Law.

Moody’s is now looking at the next administration to cover lost ground. Political noise has increased ahead of general elections next year, but we do not expect a reversal in the trend improvement in institutional strength. Reform momentum has been largely sustained, leading to improved assessments of competitiveness and governance,” Moody’s said.

The report echoed worries of economists about underspending in the administration of Noynoy limiting growth prospects.
It said bottlenecks in fiscal expenditure have continued to weigh on growth and could threaten the government’s capacity to meet its goal of increasing infrastructure spending to at least five percent of gross domestic product (GDP) by 2016.

Moody’s said fiscal underspending weighed on overall growth earlier in the year, but should provide greater support to the economy in coming quarters.
Moody’s said the government-related components of GDP — comprising government consumption and public construction, which includes infrastructure development — contracted two percent in the first quarter compared to a year ago.

It noted that the resiliency of the economy was coming more from the private sector rather than government policies.
“While the fiscal impulse has been uneven, the private sector’s contribution to growth has been stable largely due to robust household consumption, which has been aided in recent quarters by lower food and fuel prices, and despite the negative contribution from net exports,” it said.

“Private investment — as defined by gross fixed capital formation excluding public construction — has also remained buoyant,” it added.
Moody’s added that remittance inflows have continued to support private consumption despite a slowing of receipts from the Middle East, whose petroleum and service industries rely to a large extent on Filipino labor.

“In the first seven months of the year, Overseas Filipinos’ Cash Remittances grew 4.8 percent year-on-year, slightly below the 5.9 percent increase recorded for the full year in 2014. Over the same period, the growth in remittances from the Middle East, which account for roughly one-fifth of all remittances, slowed to eight percent as compared to a 22.7 percent rise last year,” it said.

....as of March 31 (2012), Philippines still owes $62.9 billion in foreign debt

....The $1-billion loan of the Philippines forms the $456-billion multilateral fund that will be extended to debt-stricken European countries such as Greece, Portugal, Italy, and Spain.

....Cid Terosa, senior economist at the University of Asia and the Pacific, said, “Wala talagang direct benefit sa Philippines [ang loan extension sa IMF] except that we are fulfilling our duty to help other countries. I would like to call it an act of good will.”

source: http://www.gmanetwork.com/news/story/264036/money/personalfinance/phl-s-1-b-loan-to-imf-not-the-first-nor-the-biggest

In short, the Philippines is not really lending money but we were just pitching in with other countries, through IMF, to ensure economic and financial stability across the globe because there was economic crisis in some European countries at that time (2012).

^mei-mei, since you're an economist, maybe you can comment on something I've heard and read. I've been wanting to get insights of an actual economist about this. Our economy is doing well right now because of GMA, she focused on the economy and Aquino is actually taking credit of what GMA's hard work.

http://www.manilatimes.net/the-economy-is-strong-despite-the-president/81318/

Even if I hate GMA, it is true that the economy started improving in 2009 under her. Kaya nga sa thread ni Duterte, I stated that my reason for voting (nauna na ko bumoto last month) was because I didn't want our normal cycle na "Ramos-growing economy, Erap - bagsak, Gloria - bagsak first part, bangon 2nd half, PNoy - growth" to be another cycle na babagsak na naman. I liked Duterte before but I know he's not good for economy because of his micro views of economy and him being emotional. Problema kasi nga pag galit yun nanalong president, ista-stop yun plans ng previous. Si PNoy kahit galit kay GMA, either he or whoever advised him decided to continue her economic plans. Aside from being balat-sibuyas ng pamilya nila, pagdating naman sa executive decisions, hindi sya emotional. So yes, GMA should get credit but so do PNoy. Because (1) he continued the good plans she had; (2) he improved some of them; and (3) he was actually a good face to foreign investors. They trusted him. They didn't trust GMA. During GMA's time, our corruption index was worse and kahit anong ganda ng plans nya if ayaw naman mag-invest sayo ng foreigners, it won't really take off as much as it did now.

I can't have an emotional president who thwarts progress because of impulsive emotional decisions. That's why I decided not to vote for him because I researched about him, before the rape talk or bank issue came out, and decided I need a CEO type of person. My choice was really on economics. Bonus na lang sa akin na when the rape culture talk came out, I didn't make a vote I regretted because I am very much against rape culture kahit hindi noon pa.

On the economy improving no matter who the president is? That's not really true. The plans are there and they're going well. But if we lose our good image to foreign investors, they can pull out anytime. OFW remittances are not sustainable and any economist knows that. Importante ang image and numbers always for foreign investors.

May plataporma pala si Duterte??? Hahahahaha

 ;D meron naman

to suppress crime, drugs, and corruption in government in 3 to 6 months
shut down congress

Change is coming  ;)

By the way thanks for the insights about our economy. I've learned more.

I agree especially as well if you are open minded and not purely negative then this is possible.
