^^If you have enrolled yourself for the fax and/or email instructions then yes, sis, you may just email the filled form to them. This special instruction is part of the Customer Information Sheet that you have submitted upon account opening. If you didn't give your consent for this, then you have to submit the original forms to their office.

^yes, sis. It is possible to open a mutual fund account or uitf (if it is from BDO) or a COL account even if you're abroad. (Please note, there are differences between UITF and Mutual Funds.)

I am an OFW as well and I have opened mutual fund accounts and a COL account while outside the Philippines.

For BDO, do you already have an Online Banking access? Is your existing BDO Account held jointly with your husband?  If you do have online banking access, just navigate through these:
Account Information > My Trust Account/Invest Online > Fill out the Risk Profile Summary

Basically you will have to update the Investor Profile Questionnaire first so they can profile you as an investor ? what is your risk capacity and risk tolerance.
After that, under the Risk Profile Matrix, you may then select the type of Fund that you want according to your profile.

I will not be able to guide you through the succeeding steps na sa BDO kasi I have not opened a UITF account with them, but I know that the option to start the UITF is available online because I have checked it with the BDO representative in the country where I reside in. I suggest you do the same thing sis ? contact the BDO rep assigned in the country where you?re at for any clarification.

For BPI, last time I?ve checked with them the option to start the trust fund account through BPI Express Online was not available yet. I?m not sure if there are changes.

What is your purpose for opening a COL account? Is it for direct stocks investing or for access to the COL Fund Source ? their platform for investing in Mutual Funds?

As to which is better, it all depends on your circumstances. There are pros and cons for each ? UITF vs MF /  MF through Mutual Fund Companies or Brokers vs COL Fund Source.

^hi sis vankiesher! Thanks sa mga infos!

Yes, may online banking access kami and joint account kami ng husband ko. Ang details namin dun ay both single parin kasi we opened that account before while saving for our wedding. Then we continue funding after the wedding. Wala bang issue dun?

Medyo na navigate na namin yung website ni BDO sis just last friday lang, yun nga na-overwhelm ako ng bonggang bongga sa dami ng detalye at pagpipiplian. Medyo sumakit ulo ko. hahaha! That's the time I noticed na more on UITF pala sila, hindi Mutual Fund.

Re COL, yes sis we will start for direct investing sa stocks. Tinatapos ko lang yung 7-Day trial ko sa site nila para medyo ma engage ko yung sarili ko page. hehe! We're planning to diversify din kasi kaya gusto din namin alamin at mag try sa Mutual Fund. :)

Yes, sis. Opening the account under your single name should be okay. Pag umuwi ka ng Pinas, just visit their branch and provide them with a copy of your marriage certificate to update your married name.

I am interested to invest in MFs but I am wondering what is the strategy for this investment? Is it na at regular intervals bibili ka then after let's say 10 years, stop and hayaan siya lumago or bibili then ibebenta kapag mataas ang value to lock in gains?

Thanks sa mga sasagot.

Hi po,

Depende po yan sa reason nyo to invest in that fund.
I suggest to invest regularly if possible, say once a month.
Iyon ang ginagawa ko. naka EIP [textspeak!] 3 funds na meron ako with COL.
Then after 10 years, re-assess po depending sa current financial status mo.
Example if you will find na medyo risky na magstay sa fund na yon, pwede nyo ibenta then iinvest sa less risky na fund.

To encourage you to go into mutual funds, i'd like to share my experience.  2004 i put 2M in one of the equity funds of PAMI.  I just kept it there, but on 2013 i withdrew 350k.  Now 2017, it has grown to more than 7M... You should look at mutual funds as long term investments.  This is good if you are trying to build a retirement fund instead of getting an insurance.

^Wow, lucky you! Can I ask if you put the 2M as one time investment or you do cost averaging?
