Not sure about adapters, but I think Spectra pumps are compatible with any wide neck bottle. I have the Spectra 350 naman.

Question. If I warm a bottle of breastmilk that was previously refrigerated, tapos hindi naman pinainom kay baby, or hindi nagamit at all, can I just stick it back in the fridge then warm it again for use in the next feeding session?

hi sissies! 1st time mom to be here and im currently 20 weeks pregnant. gusto ko sana magbreastfeed kaso i dont know kung pwede kasi yung left nipple ko is inverted. I'm not sure kung makakapagbreastfeed ako sa left breast ko. :(

TIA! :)

Nipple cream..

Do I need to buy this? If yes, what brand can you recommend that is safe for babies? Unless nipples need to be washed off talaga before latching.

Thanks! :)

^^ For me, no need to buy a nipple cream. Ang gawin mo lang ay ipahid yung breastmilk mo around your areola and nipple then air dry as per my OB which is effective naman for me.

^Pigeon, Mustela and Lansinoh are all safe for babies.

Inadvise na ako ng friend ko na maglagay ng nipple cream from my 7th month of pregnancy onwards to condition my nipples before baby's arrival. Nilalagay siya before matulog and after shower.minamassage ko sa nipples at areola.

Hi Sarah! I'm still breastfeeding my 17 months baby so I'm happy to give any advice, especially because I had a great lactation nurse when I gave birth. What I learned is that it's more important for the baby to have the areola in his mouth instead of just the nipple, so you can still breastfeed even with inverted nipples. But if you're really concerned, you can use a breast pump to get your nipple out before feeding, and after a while, masasanay na and it will remain out.

My breastfeeding story:
I started breastfeeding as soon as the baby was out, but there was only colostrum for the first 3 days. I was really worried about not having enough milk so I used a breast pump on Day 4 and it caused me overproduction and then I developed mastitis.

I found my lactation nurse and she helped massage my blocked milk ducts -- SO PAINFUL. Instead of worrying about milk production, you should pay attention to whether the baby latches on properly. The trick I learned is you press down your nipple/areola to one side (like pindot ng button but to left or right) and then move the baby's open mouth next to it, and then let go. It will pop inside the mouth with enough breast tissue to stimulate the milk ducts.

If you're really really worried about  milk production, try pumping once a day (better in the evening). You won't get a lot of milk but it will stimulate your breasts to produce more. Also, I ate a lot of oatmeal every day (1 cup raw oatmeal) and fenugreek every day for 3 months. Drink lots and lots of water and get sleep (really hard with a newborn but you must rest to produce milk).

There are some foods you have to avoid, esp anything mint-flavored and parsley. If your milk is not flowing properly because of blocked ducts, I recommend the recipe that my lactation nurse gave me:

3 oranges divided into 5 pcs each (don't remove peel) and boil in 2 cups water until reduced to 1 cup.

Good luck!

Coco cola, ako din I never used nipple cream. Masakit breastfeeding for me at first, tiis lang talaga. There was a time na pag maglalatch baby ko on my left breast parang feeling ko kinakagat ako ng piranha. Lol. Ganun talaga. They call the initial latch pain the sixty second sizzle. One day I just realized hindi na masakit, or siguro naging mas efficient nurser lang baby ko. Tiisin mo lang hanggang kaya mo. It gets better.

Saranghae, lactation experts say don't pump til you're about 6 weeks postpartum. 6 weeks recommended kasi more or less established na supply mo. It sounds like a happy problem pero it's not. It causes babies to be fussy at the breast dahil sa lakas ng letdown, gas problems, etc. I followed that advice kasi maternity leave naman ako and wala naman mawawala sakin. But I have friends na nagpump kagad. Wala naman silang naging problem as far as I know. If you want to 'prepare' for breastfeeding, ask your OB about taking Natalac. Effective daw yun. Also, read up on breastfeeding. Yun lang no matter how much you read nothing really prepares you for the realities of actual breastfeeding. Dati basa din ako ng basa. Nagamit ko naman ibang nabasa ko but siguro 80% of my breastfeeding journey is trial and error talaga. Good luck!

^sis we first tried bottle feeding kaso ayaw nya, gusto nya lang direct latch kaso i have to get back to work kaya we tried cup feeding, mahirap and messy. we also tried dropper feeding, but after awhile, ayaw na din nya iniipon lang nya milk sa mouth nya then iluluwa after. then back to bottle feeding kami, we experimented on different brands, and now were using pigeon peristaltic plus na nipple. pero she only feeds sa bottle pag inaantok na sya. experiment ka nalang what works on your baby.

^^bottle feeding kami. Di ko na sinubukan yung cup feeding even if it's recommended over bottle. We use Pigeon Peristaltic Plus nipples also. So far so good. Wala namang issues si baby alternating between breast and bottle.

^same here sis, wala naman issues si baby when alternating between breast and bottle. but hirap lang talaga siya i-feed, and the only way to feed her is pag-sleepy na siya, dun yung hassle, mahirap magpatulog ng baby para lang maka-feed. baka kasi she got used to me nursing her to sleep since birth and naassociate niya feeding time with sleepy time.

I'm on my 4th day of breastfeeding and my nipples are very sore. I know it's due to poor latching ni baby. Thanks sis Chiotz for the advice I'll try it later if it will work on me.

I tried putting ice sa nipple before feeding but parang nanigas pa ito. Warm compress helped a bit but I know I need to work on baby's latching.

Bottle sis. Ang daming nagpipilit dyan sa cupfeeding na yan.. mahirap yan case to case din kase yung sa akin ayaw talaga gawin nung MIL and yaya natatakot sila baka raw ma choke, I can practice that if siguro ako mismo nag aalaga, so wala kami choice kung hindi sanayin sa bottle, so ayun ok na nman no nipple confusion.
