How to save on groceries

I've tried different ways of saving on groceries and what worked best for me now is to plan the menu for the 6 days, one day is for left over haha.
Re toilet paper, Kleenex, oiler cleaner, dishwashing liquid I buy in bulk

Pano magtipid ? DO your groceries ONCE a month lang! Common sense will tell it is much tipid kesa every week gastos sa gas, pamasahe etc,

Para makatipid sa mga ibang gamit, bumili ng mga sabon na cheap para panlinis lang sa CR, lababo, at floor.

Mga ibang toiletries sa mga grocery store na.
Palengke para sa mga wet goods.

Usually nakaka 3k kami sa toiletries pero kasama na mga meryenda ni baby, milo, gatas.. etc.
Siguro mga around 6k/month lang lahat lahat ang gastos namin kada buwan. 

Advantage card is useless.  You'll only earn enough to pay for the renewal.

Naku totoo yan.. badtrip nga eh kaya hindi ko na nirenew. Sumobra man mga 30 pesos lang

Agree on once a month grocery. 7k kami normally a month. pero lahat andon na. Hindi na kami bumibili sa tindahan since di naman nagkukulang. buy in bulk din kami sa ibang items. tipid sa gas din kasi.

Subcribing kasi this is a challenge for me.

We do grocery shopping every week. Every other week we shop in Costco (S&R). Normal grocery shopping is for fresh fruit and vegetable and Costco for things that keep like toilet paper, soap and meat.

I try to save by:
1. Writing a list - so I don't forget anything. If I have to go to the grocery store again, malaki possibility of buying extra things.
2. I plan my menu based on what is on sale. I have an idea of what to cook but I adjust the ingredients based on what is on sale.
3. I take advantage of sales - if washing powder is on deep sale (50% off), I will buy enough for one year.
4. I comparison shop and compare by unit prices - I'm lucky kasi I'm overseas and before I go I can check prices online. I keep a list of items that we regularly buy on my phone and their prices so I can check if once place is still cheaper than the other.
5. I buy in bulk - because I buy in bulk, I'm not forced to buy something if it's not on sale just because I need it. For example I will only buy toilet paper when the price is lower than 20 cents per 100 sheets. I can afford to do this kasi I have 6 months supply. If you need toilet paper now, kahit na presyong ginto you need to buy it kasi kailangan mo.
6. Learn your consumption pattern - if you buy too much and end up throwing it away, it's wasted money.

Finally if you bulk buy, make sure you have space.

matagal ko na napansin na mas mahal sa savemore.  Dati kasi nung bumili ako ng sabon, 6 pesos na mas mahal si savemore kesa sa mga small groceries sa palengke.

pansin ko din mas mura sa landmark at mas kumpleto.

pag meat naman, mas mura  talaga sa palengke at fresh pa unlike sa mga groceries, madalas frozen.

para makamura sa grocery, gusto ko ako lang mag isa so i can take my time. pag kasama ko baby ko at mama ko, ang dami kong extrang nabibili.

We also do grocery once a month, averaging kame ng 5k/month. We buy in Shopwise every first Wednesday of the month when the rewards points are x10. Tyaga lang sa pila na tinatiming namin sa hapon para medyo humupa na ang mga mamimili hehe. Mabilis magaccumulate ng points, in a year makakamenos kame ng halos pang isang buwan na panggrocery

Me and my brother do grocery shopping every week. Puro food lang around P1,300 and every last week of the month yung lahat naman - food, toiletries, etc. P4,500.

Sa Robinsons kami since dun na talaga nag-grocery si Mama nung buhay pa sya at yun yung malapit sa amin like pwede lakarin. Pero sabi ng friends ko mas mahal daw sa Rob bakit di na lang daw kami sa SM since may malapit din naman na SM sa amin.

So, last month bale yung for last week of the month namin, sa SM kami nag-grocery ng brother ko. Yung P4,500 namin naging P6,000. Grabe, buti na lang laging may extra sa allowance namin from father or else baka wala kaming pang-emergency. 

At ang ayaw ko din sa SM nagsusukli sila ng 10cents, 5cents eh hindi naman lahat ng tindahan tumatanggap nun. Kahit yata pamasahe hindi magagamit yun.

Sis foxyhauteur, super mahal sa SM as in. Tulad nung Ivory na 10 pieces per pack PHP 319 sa kanila, while sa Shopwise or SNR 250 lang. Yan kasi ang bagong sabon ni husband. Nakakaloka talaga si SM. Kaso matalino talaga sila kasi anywhere may SM talaga.

We have a meal plan good for 4-5days, un meat, fish and veggies sa wet market.
For other items like pangbaon and toiletries, sa grocery. I do it on my own at least every 3weeks, na busog para less dampot ng goods na di talaga kailangan. I also buy in bulk, less trip sa grocery means less gastos.

Problema ko ito. Ang laki ng nagagastos ko sa pamamalengke at grocery. Ito ang composition namin sa bahay:

1. M-Th - 3 adults (me, H and yaya)+ baby (5 months pa lang)
2. F-Sun - 5 adults (me, H, mama ko, yaya and part-time all-around/weekend lady)

Weekly kami namamalengke at grocery tuwing sabado ng umaga after having breakfast. we spend:

1. around 1,500 - 2,000 per week sa wet market (gulay, fish, chicken--we seldom eat beef. H does not like pork).
2. around 1,000 -1,500 per week sa grocery (Yakult, sugar, Cooking oil, adult powdered milk for me, cans of evap milk, detergent, baked goodies for merienda, coffee etc)

in a month 10-12k ang nagagastos sa food. my mom gives me around 1k per week for food.minsan namimili rin siya ng dagdag if she wants to cook a special dish for us. minsan may dala rin siya additional food like salted eggs, longanisa.

however, kasama naman na dito yung baon namin for lunch. H and I bring homecooked meals for lunch at work.

i do not prepare a weekly menu bago pumunta sa grocery kasi wala na ako time...pero siguro dapat ko na ito gawin para makatipid.

eto yung sitwasyon ko ngayon, im a working mom..

-weekly ang grocery at wet market ko..
-meron akong menu plan for 1 week..
-daily paguwi ko ang luto ng ulam (si yaya ang taga hiwa)..

baka matulungan nyo ako kasi napapagod na ako sa ganitong sitwasyon, 
nagbasa basa ako na [textspeak!] iba 2 weeks ang menu plan then meron ngluluto na ng weekends
para weekdays init na lang..
kung mag 2 week menu plan ako, worry ko ang gulay, kasi madaling malanta,
ang seafoods, hindi na ganon kafresh kapag tumagal ng ilang araw..

plus yung mga toiletries namin,
iba ibang araw ang ubos, nagtry na akong itake note kung kelan ang ubos ng isang bote ng shampoo, pero sa dami ng ginagamit, hindi ko pa matapos at parang ang hirap..

sample: ngayong weekends maggrocery ako ng mga paubos na, then next week may need na naman igrocery kasi may paubos na uli..

di naman ako pwedeng mag hoard kasi limited lang ang storage namin
at wala kaming kotse, hirap mag jeep na sangkatutak ang bitbit..

Sulit ba talaga yung Shopwise wise card, especially during 1st wednesday? Pansin ko kasi may mga items sila na mahal, like 5-30 pesos difference sa Robinsons. Or baka mas sulit pa sa Landmark? Dami ko kasi nababasa na mura dun. Thanks!

I agree na mas mura sa Landmark. We do our groceries once a month sa Landmark Trinoma. Minsan I ran out of stocks especially when my toddler requests to bake him goodies, my go to place is Shopwise. For the Maya (1kl) cake flour, nasa 115 php sa kanila while wala pang 100 sa Landmark. Although I went like a coupl of times during the night (near-closing), they have these vegetables, onions, garlics on sale which are really super low like 100++ for a kilo and more.

Recently din I noticed na yung mga beverages talaga and sugary drinks have gone up high. We are Milo people sa bahay kasi favorite ng anak ko, from 225, 275 na sya ngayon. We consume like 3 to 4 big bags of these a month. Also, a lot of other items nagtaasan din. So sad. Bumaba nga tax, nag domino naman yung mga bilihin. Wala ding kwenta.

One tip I have though for people who likes eggs, buy from direct seller. We used to buy sa groceries, yung nasa around 80/dz. Some eggs are mej hindi na fresh. One time I had a leche flan project and needed lots of eggs. I looked in olx and found a direct seller that sells 145 php for 30 pcs of grocery-size eggs. Super sulit for me. Lumalabas na wala pang 5 pesos per egg, whichis around 60 pesos lang per dozen.

I agree.  I also do my grocery sa landmark. Mura na malinis pa, unlike sa SM. Sis may minumum ba yung supplier mo ng eggs? TIA

Malinis nga sa Landmark. If only malapit ang Landmark Trinoma sa amin. Kaya kapag napupunta kami doon. Nag hohoard talaga kami ng grocery items. Lagi nga lang mahaba ang pila lalo na yung after office hours and weekend. Tiyaga lang talaga.

Isa pang tip kung mahilig kayo mag-abang ng mga vouchers, coupon codes na ginagamit sa online shopping like Lazada, Honestbee, Shopee. Dito talaga ako nakakatipid ng bongga.

Agreee na mas okay mag grocery sa Landmark, mas makakamura talaga. Pag naggogrocery ako sa Landmark Makati natutuwa rin ako kasi lahat kumpleto sila 

Once in a while antabay antabay lang din sa S&R. I also save bucks from their sales at discounts.
