Hello mga sis, hihingi ako ng tips kung paano mag "scout" ng mga amateur/newbie na photographer/videographer sa ganitong industry pero may potential. Budgetarian kasi ako mga sis, kaya naghahanap ako ng pasok sa budget ko na 30k-40k p/v, kung mas mababa mas better. Aware naman ako na medyo risky kasi baka hindi makapagdeliver, kaya gusto ko magpahelp sa inyo. Binasa ko yung mga post dito yung ibang sis naman nagtry din naman sa newbie kaya mababa pa nakuha nilang rates pero ngaun kilala na sila kaya mataas na ang rates so hindi na pasok sa budget ko. No worries mga sis okey lang sa akin kung wala ng mga albums, save the date. Ang mahalaga sa akin may service para sa prenup, sde saka yung sa wedding okey na sa amin. Sis kittenchi, share ko lang experience ko, i booked an amateur/hobbyist photographer for my daughter's birthday. What I did was, nagsearch ako sa instagram ng hashtags (ie photographymanila, photoenthusiast, etc). I actually found a lot, yung mga public profile na pasok sa taste ko, i messaged them and asked them if they cover events or kung may nacover na sila, and if they're interested to cover your event. Most enthusiasts would be thrilled to say yes. I got lucky with my pick for my daughter's party kasi magaling sya. if yours is the first wedding na ikocover nila, be very very specific lang with what you want para guided din sila. Our wedding photographer (Efjay Deleon) was a newbie din nung binook ko sya, i found him sa Wedding Suppliers Philippines na facebook group. Pwede ka rin magpost doon and specify your budget.

@MandJ2019 sis super helpful nung binigay mo na link, nagcheck ako ng mga rates nila pero focus muna ako sa pictures nila kasi dun ako magbased sa kukunin ko, sa video kasi wala pa ako naiisip na style na gusto kong maachieve.

Tomatostellar, some are even willing to do it pro bono, x-deal lang. they cover your event and use your photos for their public portfolio. Pero syempre pag wedding coverage iba yun kasi more than 12 hrs silang magwowork nun, so most likely they'd require a fee. But for 3-hr events like bdays, some can do it for free. Maraming talented photogs who are yet to be discovered. Tapos sa videographer sa kanila na rin ako nagparecommend. Madalas mga kaibigan din nila na hobbyist din.

Kittenchi, sana makahanap ka. Two years later i still feel na sobrang swinerte kami kay Efjay, his rates then were super inexpensive. You can try checking also Bamboo Kite Photos, the owner Rap Hernandez shoots for Efjay too, as far as i know cheaper rates nya. Good luck!

Hi sis kittenchi17! You might also want to check Mariel Florendo's portfolio. We booked him (yes, he's a HE, LOL) as our p/v supplier and super bait kausap. We got a lot of freebies din! He was a former freelancer ng Nice Print kaya his works are of high quality. Budget bride din ako kaya baka pumasok din siya sa budget mo

Madami na talaga budding suppliers especially sa photography.
May tips lang ako:

1) Like I said before, scout sa area mo. Or if not sa immediate area at least proximal. No OOT, plus madali kausap sa call time wala ka problem. Meetings wala din.

2) Set your budget. Pero magbigay ka ng plus or minus 5k ganyan. Medyo lawakan lang mga sis. Kasi several years later, yung photos ilang beses mo yan marereproduce, mapopost ganyan.

3) Huwag magpadala sa pangalan. Yes madami sikat. Pero madami din magaling na budding. At madami din sikat na so-so ag output. Ako, if budgetarian, find a team na fairly new para malakas pa ang fire and passion.

4) TIME of your wedding. I cannot emphasize this enough. Look at the samples sa portfolio nila na pareho sa time ng wedding mo. Photographer din ako kaya I know how very different ang pagshoot sa night and sa day. Make or break to mga sis. If you want set your prenup time sa time ng wedding. Practice na din diba.

5) Style. Iba iba. May crisp, bright (Like CamZar, Bob&Zab ganyan), may fine art like Toto, Nicolai, Jaja, may Cinematic/Journalistic like Myio, Daydreamer etc. Set the style you want and doon magshortlist.

6) Rapport. Make sure you feel you can be friends with your photographer. Mga sis, mahirap kapag wala nito. Very stiff and artificial ang shots. Ang chaka naman diba.

Hi sis rain monterola, Shootme Photo bride ako last year

Jayson Chavez (the owner of Shootme Photo) is one of my favorite suppliers. Maayos siya kausap and ang noteworthy ang output.

We had to reschedule our prenup last year due to personal reasons and Jayson was so understanding. He also provided valuable inputs tungkol sa prenup location para mas maganda ang shots and hindi kami nagkamali na magtiwala sa recommendation niya.

He values time - lagi siyang dumadating ng mas maaga sa call time.

It was so nice to work with the whole Shootme Photo team, magaan sila kasama and they would really assist you lalo na if di ka masyado marunong magpose (like me. lol)

I had a song in mind for my video SDE, sa photo SDE namin, hinayaan ko na sina Jayson magdecide and it was one of the best decisions namin. Everyone fell in love with the photo SDE! Ang gaganda ng shots and the song - first time ko narinig ang song na ginamit nila but it was heartwarming and upbeat at the same time. I guess one of the reasons why I think the song had such an effect was most of my guests downloaded the song as soon as they got home, some of them posted the lyrics of the song in their socmed accounts and some used the lyrics as their Skype status.

I still watch our Photo SDE everyday and I fall in love with it every single time.

We haven't gotten our Wedding albums yet - and it's entirely our fault kasi di pa kami nakakapili ng photos. Si Jayson pa nga ang kumokontak kay hubby for our choices. lol

hi peachlipstick thank you so much for your review. Actually I am leaning on getting them as my wedding photographer because very affordable and very easy to talk to.

Hopefully I get to experience the kindness and professionalism they did towards you. And I need that kind of supplier wherein they show their patience in their client specially in projection/poses because honestly me and my H2B are sort of camera shy. ahahaha! So good luck to the team.

Hello I'm back! 

We finally found a Photographer for our wedding (actually we already booked one before P/V however we had to let go of them and yung the DP since mejo madaming negative reviews about them and we don't want to take the risk). we decided to get a separate P/V team nalang para at least yun yung forte nila. we got Bamboo Kite Photography by Rap Hernandez he shoots with Efjay and A&A Photography kaya ang ganda ng mga shots niya very creative and affordable ang packages niya. we met him and may na build namang connection between us kaya on the spot booking ang nangyari.

Now I'm looking for a videographer and nahihirapan akong mamili kasi parang ang gaganda nilang lahat and yung price range nila halos magkakadikit lang.  Considering Indemand wedding films, Reel Story Videos, Woodstock Cinema, Kreative Machines and Cinecreations. Any other recos sis?

sis rain monterola, you're in good hands kay Jayson. I felt na was a concerned friend more than a supplier a few weeks before the wedding nung inaatake na ako ng anxiety dahil sa paggawa ko ng mga DIYs. He even called me to help me calm down.
