They use it in the US; if there is a high risk for Down's syndrome, they have a choice not to go through with the pregnancy. It's not a routine test in our country because termination is not legal. Pero I asked the OB sono nonetheless if kita na sa ultrasound (just so we can be prepared, if ever); she agreed and measured naman

So sis, if more than 2.5mm yung size ibig sabihin may down syndrome na agad si baby or may possibility lang?

@au_chic: Oh ok. Yung fetal free DNA test is newer kasi so doctors probably recommend this more for checking DS & other abnormalities, I could be wrong. May kasama din itong test for identifying the gender of the baby pero di sinama ng doctor ko

11 weeks na kami bukas ni baby and sa saturday maririnig na namin heatbeat nya. iche-check din daw ni OB sa saturday kung may DS c baby. Hoping ang praying everything will be normal.

@i_am_zayda: when combined with other factors like maternal age, other blood tests, etc, it gives mga 80+% chance na may Down's syndrome si baby. Oo sis, ask the possible rates na for CS, NSD, high risk, or if may complications

@jeune: Yes the fetal free DNA is newer and fairly more reliable. Inggit ako sayo, meron kayo dyan

@duhyan: We heard baby's heartbeat with a Littmann stethoscope at 11weeks parang background noise sya amidst my bowel sounds. We've been monitoring it daily ever since

^ganoon talaga katagal sis bago madiscuss ang results sa location nyo? They don't give the results right after the test?

Yap sis, unless there is something wrong and urgent tatawag sila the following day.  So I am thinking since wala akong narecive na tawag, everything is okay. Yun SOP nila, they are good naman in call backs so I didn't bother to follow up.

My OB didn't mention about that test (Nuchal translucency) , so I am not sure if next visit pa.

I asked my co-worker about Nuchal translucency test, routine check up pala siya dito for 35 yrs old and above.  Kaya siguro di na discuss sakin.  My co-worker advised na wag ko na daw gawin, anyways I won't terminate pregnancy naman kahit ano pa findings.  Kasi siya 38 na ang laki nga daw ng percentage na may down yung anak nya according to the test, nung lumabas inassess yun baby wala naman daw.    Kaya sabi nya wag ko ng gawin dagdag stress lang daw.  Pwede daw kasi magkamali yung test depende sa timing.

Decided not to do the scan too, termination is not an option for us and I'm praying for a healthy baby talaga... And to enjoy the pregnancy na din.

Me din, hindi na ako nagpa check kasi kahit anong result naman si baby, tatanggapin namin. I always pray for a healthy baby every night din naman talaga. We just trasferred in Europe tapos wala pa ako sa system nila, still applying my residency so nong nag ask kami how much dahil walang healthcare, napanganga ako sa presyo kasi 12k sya kung e convert mo. hahaha Sabi ni DH hwag na lang lalo nat  both in laws ko are specialist ng mga special angels.

Just had another utz last sat, pelvic utz na ko yey! Nakakatuwa buo na talaga siya and i saw the little one moving, ang cute! I could watch it all day! Weeee! Im soooo excited!

@det060403 I'm happy for you sis! Ilang weeks ka na ngayon? I'm going on 13w na. My next OB visit is this 24th. I can't wait to hear the heartbeat na rin via doppler. Sana din may ultrasound request ulit ako para makita ko na si baby na formed na talaga.

Magkasunod tayo sis alam ko. 12w6d na ko sa lmp. Though sa utz 13w 5d na sya. Edd ko sa lmp is apr27, maiiba daw sa utz, pacheck ko daw ulit sa 4th month. Oo sis nakakaexcite sya makita kasi yung form nya baby na talaga.  May arms at legs na, may nasal bone na din siya sabi ng ob. Cant wait for the 5th month para mafeel ko na siya!

I just received a letter in the mail about diagnostic imaging that I will do in December at 20weeks.  Routine ultrasound daw to, basta sinabi lang sa letter it will asses the health of the baby.  Praning na naman ako, praying that everything is okay.

My OB Dr. Jericho Luna wants me to have an ultrasound every month, which is fine by me para we get to see the little one more frequently

Grabe ang pimples ko since naubusan ako ng Azelaic acid! From bungang araw types to cystic pimples    meron sa face, nape, chest, and back

Hubby just bought my 2nd tube of Azelaic acid (helps prevent mask of pregnancy too!) and Teranex (glycolic soap). Sana gumana agad huhu.

Since I'm on my 2nd trimester, I'm having nightmares that my cervix is incompetent. Nagpaplano na ko magpa-cerclage :-/

Guys ask ko lang sa may mga experience na manganak. Kasi sabi nila bihira lang daw ang sumasakto sa EDD pero kelan kayo nanganak before or after ng EDD nyo? Ang EDD ko kasi is April 4, 2016 sabi baka daw March ako manganak.

^from my experience in delivering babies in manila's charity wards, yes, bihira talaga sumakto sa EDD

My OB says I can have an elective CS, with my own choice of date and time (if we believe in feng shui or whatnot), basta earlier than the EDD. Letting the baby stay in there longer would risk him/her eating/inhaling his/her own poop = infection = high risk of neonatal death

I've pumped too many baby hearts in my NICU rotation due to fatalities from infections, so ang plan namin mga 2 weeks earlier than my EDD ang elective CS.

Excited na kami na kinakabahan.  And we don't know yet if we will reveal the gender or surprise nalang    Naisip ko naman baka mahirapan silang mag gift during baby shower kung di namin sasabihinr.   How about you guys?  Are you going to have a gender reveal?
