We use an air purifier, we just move it from the bedroom to the living room of our condo.

I think it helps naman, although it wasn't really noticeable naman for us. When reading the reviews, people were talking about waking up and feeling better etc.. pero that wasn't the case with us. But then again, we're not really allergic or anything naman. But when I replace the filter, I can see that it's really filtered out quite a lot of dust rin naman. We live in a high-rise, with a balcony on the bedroom, and dust can be a major problem if we keep opening the balcony doors.

The one I got is made by BlueAir, I got it for about 20K+ from Ace Harware in MoA, IIRC. It only has one filter, which is about 3K, that I replace in roughly 6-8mos. Some purifiers have different kinds of filters, depending on what you want.

There are several other brands available locally, for example, each Ace Hardware branch carries different brands.

But your biggest concern should be replacement filters. If you're not able to replace filters easily, your purifier will essentially be useless. Only reason I went with Blueair was that I saw that their filters were easily available on Amazon, so kahit mawala yung local distributor, I can always order online, and Johnny Air na lang. Although there might be some with washable filters? I'm not sure. Some of the Automatic Center-type stores also carry some purifiers. I think the one at the Landmark/Glorietta Link Carpark have some Sanyo branded ones, pero if I remember correctly, when I researched the filters, mahirap hanapin, YMMV.

We have a humidifier in our daughter's nursery kasi she had eczema when she was younger and they said it will benefit her. We put 4 drops of lavender oil rin at night for better sleep. I read na it's good to add to their routine so she can associate bedtime with this scent.

I bought an air humidifier last feb in a bazaar and I super love it! No regrets sa I think 1,200php na price niya. The seller told me that it could help clean the air around my unit and it works. Allergic kasi ako sa alikabok and ever since i started using the air humidifier, nawala yun colds ko at mas masarap na ang tulog namin ng hubby ko. Bango pa!

yung humidifier niyo mga sis, ultrasonic na ba?there are different types kasi.

Cool Mist - Most common, also referred to as "evaporative" or "wick" humidifiers. Disperse a thin mist of cool air into the room using a small fan. Usually inexpensive, need to be cleaned often for mold and mildew.
Impeller - Work the same way cool mist humidifiers do, using a spinning disk to insert water into a diffuser that breaks down water and emits it into the air.
Ultrasonic - Use a metal diaphragm that vibrates at a high frequency, propelling the moisture into the air. Very quiet operation and typically do not use filters. Recommended for use with distilled water.
Warm-Mist - Typically the least expensive. Boil water which in turn produces steam. Before the steam is released into the air it is cooled. Usually very quiet, yet costly to operate. Not recommended for people with asthma.

Big help ang Humidifier sa amin. Hubby doesn't snore that much. I also don't experience popping sound in my nose every morning and medyo narestore my sense of smell, toddler now sleeps soundly at night, no more barado nose. This is my 3rd humidifier. The first 2 were coolmist ones but parang di significant ang effect as the one we're using now which you can set the humidity level at 50. It has a sensor and automatically stops pag na reach nya na yung level. I read too much humid air din kasi is not good for our lungs. Downside lang nito, a bit tedious to clean daily but I don't mind as long as my toddler can sleep well through the night.

^^lordknight, she's 2 yrs and 7 months now. We bought ours here in Australia kasi we were desperate to get rid of her eczema. Bought it for $79 (http://www.harveynorman.com.au/cli-mate-air-humidifier.html)

We opted for a cool mist kasi I read articles about warm mist humidifiers dangers around toddlers. So I erred on the side of caution.

^ my son is 2 years 7 mos also.   first option ko din yung  cool mist for the same reason as yours.. warm mist humidifier poses a burn hazard.  but now,  im thinking maybe i should get  a  warm mist simply because i believe that warm air is cleaner..

what's the brand of your humidifier sis? is it cool or warm mist?

^ Novita yung brand sis. Not sure if it's available na in the Philippines, dito ko siya nabili sa Singapore. Ultrasonic humidifier that has filter. Can put oils din but I don't use scented oil even if they said it's natural or organic.

The humidifier is for those who stays in air-conditioned rooms and inuubo para hindi daw makati sa throat.  I have a high end vacuum that doubles as air cleaner.  So far ok naman.

I almost bought this air purifier talaga with Hepa filter pero around 23k din siya so decided to vacuum better nalang and clean the curtains, sheets, pillow cases etc more often (as in once a week for the sheets and once a month for the curtains).  Worked well kasi wala ng nagkakasakit samin longer than 2 weeks.  Mga dusts, pollens, dust mites (if you don't have mattress or pillow protections), molds (nakukuha if nagpapatuyo ka ng clothes inside the house) ang isa sa mga causes ng allergies.

My baby has allergy to dust mites so I thought of getting an air purifier.  Based on my research, air purifier can help but it should have HEPA filter (11 or 12 rating forgot the exact rate) to become effective in purifying the air.  Pero sobrang pricey. It would cost you more or less 20k.
As for the vacuum cleaner (sorry if medyo OT), better yung with HEPA filter din coz it can trap dust unlike regular cleaner.
Since mild lang naman allergy nya (no asthma nor respiratory problem), im thinking of getting yung inexpensive lang.  Which one yung  pwede sa A/C room? And yung pwede sa living/kitchen area?

Air humidifier is actually a danger to your health.  We live in a tropical climate.  During rainy season, our humidity level can get as high as the 90s.  That's how many percent water is in the air.  Why would you add more humidity to your room using an air humidifier?  Humidity creates moisture in the air, it's like living inside a sauna.  Bacteria thrives on moisture.  You would find more molds in your bathroom, kitchen, and attics.  They can cause respiratory problems.  Moisture can damage your home.

^ I agree it does not make sense to buy a humidifier for use here in the Philippines since the humidity level is high.

^^ That's what I read also about air purifiers. They need to have a HEPA filter. I wanted to buy a air purifier but it seems too expensive and I think it requires regular replacement of filters. Hopefully in the future the prices will go down

The humidity level is already at 89% right now.  Why are you adding more?  Philippines is one of the most humid countries in the world.

it became kinda uso ngayon sa philippines kasi they always sell it with scents para maging mabango yung room without the hassle of burner oils and candles. safer etc.
