Church rule: No custom vows

Hello mga sis. Can you list down the list of churches na hindi naga-allow ng personal vows? Also, what do you do as a workaround if ever hindi talaga allowed sa church during the ceremony. Thank you!

Good thing our church allows personalized vows. Sabi nga din nung videographer namin it depends daw sa priest minsan. Hmm, not sure about sa Manila churches, but I believe in UST chapel they don't allow that too

Patty Laurel had this great idea of having her and her husband read letters to one another out loud behind a door during her preps. I think you could modify the idea a bit and do the same with your groom if it's really a no-no for the church.

korek minsan depende din sa priest. Sa Paco Chapel din ganyan, i've heard weddings na di inallow ang personal vows dun pero H2B called last week ata and OK na daw ulit ang personal vows.

I'm glad we don't have this restriction in our church/religion. It's my favorite part of the ceremony kasi. :)

Sa San Sebastian, they don't allow it.  Bukod sa time constraints considering oras-oras ang kasal doon, sabi ng pre-cana seminar, it's meant to be that way - yung mismong words ng vow ang sasabihin mo sa asawa mo.  Sa akin okay lang naman.  At least yun ang pinangako namin sa isa't isa.

our church San Sebastian won't allow nga. But ok lang with me since baka sobrang joke lang kaming 2. Might just put it in a letter and let him read it aloud during preps. Hopefully H2B can read my hand writing. :)

if your church/priest won't allow it then you can just say it to each other before or after the ceremony. i've seen videos by my videographer where the couples said their vows to each other after the ceremony during their post-nup shoot and it was included in their sde so their guests can see them  :)

I can relate mga sis. Our church din Shrine of Jesus wont allow personal vows.

ive attended a church wedding where the priest didn't allow personal vows as well. eh mapilit si bride, so nagsulat siya ng "personal message" then she made the MOH read it over the mic before her bridal march. medyo awkward kasi everyone was facing the church entrance, anticipating the bride to come in, then suddenly may tumatawag ng attention dun sa altar. funny din kasi the message was partially comedy pero nasira lang yung bridal moment. kahit yung MOH hesitant sa pagbabasa kasi against din siya sa idea. tuloy everyone was smirking/laughing during the bridal march, im not sure if that was her intention pero hindi maganda kinalabasan for me.

I have friends who just read their vows to each other in private shortly before the reception. It was just the two of them but they were shot by the videographer and the vows were included in the SDE. It was a nice surprise for the guests, not a dry eye in the venue :)

Just sharing what a priest told us before the wedding. He told us that it is important that the vows should be the one prescribed by the Church because the essence of marriage is contained therein. Hence, what they allow are "personal messages" that couples have for each other, where other promises and/or declarations can be made in addition to the Church vows. :) So in our misalette, I indicated: "Personal message to the bride" and "Personal message to the groom".

Yes, I placed:

(Personal message to the groom)
(Personal message to the bride)

Didn't print our actual messages. Surprise yun sis. Hehe  ;D We just read our messages during the ceremony.
