PREPARING FOR THE EARTHQUAKE THAT WILL HIT METRO MANILA

I live here in Rizal, sa taas pa sierra madre. If you are familiar with place. You can still buy lots na mura pa. There you can have your BOL maayos at malawak pa hindi crowded., mahirap nga lang signal at lagi brownout. Kung criminal ka dito ka banda mag tago hindi ka mahuhulu haha!

wanna start preparing for this as well. napaka helpful ng thread na ito. our place is less than 1km from the fault in makati.  while i was searching info about the west valley fault, i saw this post where in mmda's planning to do a metro wide earthquake drill. maganda sana ang plan, kaso

"Electricity and mobile phone services would be cut throughout the metropolis. All private and government offices as well as businesses, including shopping malls would be closed between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. to simulate the scenario of a 7.2 magnitude earthquake."

Naisip ko, parang ang gulo nga if ever, pero i think we need this to prepare in case mangyari nga unfortunatley yung lindol at lahat tayo, eh nganga. from gov't to private sector to common people.

Our house in Pasig like 3 kms away from the fault line. Then the one in SJDM is about 7kms. Pwede na kayang BOL yun? Magstock na nga ako just in case.

My workplace is also 3kms away, pero hindi naman kataasang building ito, at wala pa rin kaming drill.

At ang prayer ko din, sana magkakasama kaming family pag nangyare yan. Kahit anong disaster.

Any advice if ever (wag naman sana) na mangyari ito tapos the kids are in school and ikaw nasa office and yung ibang member ng family is nasa house?

Are there any things that we can tell the kids or kung ano gagawin namin kapag ganito nangyari?

my daughter's from st paul pasig.  it's like 0.3 km from the fault line

Establish right now what you would do in case of an earthquake. Would you stay where you are or would you leave? If you ask me, I would stay put. Because just the sheer act of trying to get somewhere else puts my life in much bigger risk. Outside, hindi ko alam elements, I can't predict what may fall on me. Although case to case basis yan, my default reaction is to stay indoors.

^ ako din, kung nasa condo kami ni hubby kung mangyari and hindi naman damaged yung building, stay put na lang siguro kami. pero if the admin advises na lumabas muna because the building needs to be assessed for damage, ewan ko san kami pupunta. hindi naman pwede sa car matulog kasi basement din yung parking namin. wala naman open space na mapaparadahan dito. this is my concern.

kung sa office abutan, shempre gusto ko makauwi. my husband works nearby (pwede lakarin kung desperado and roads are not passable). usapan namin sya ang pupunta sa office ko to pick me up.

salamat sa thread na ito. just found out 500meters lang layo ng tinitirhan namin sa fault line. news pa nga lang about the drill natatakot na ako (maglileave talaga ako) what more pagmangyari na talaga.

kung dito kami sa office (makati) malamang konti na lang ang tsansa ko mabuhay. parang naassess na kasi itong building namin before and mataas ang risk pagnagkalindol (forgot na yung term na ginamit nila). kung buhay naman ako, pano kaya ako uuwi ng muntinlupa kung bagsakan ng skyway ang expressway (super kadooper worst case)

naisip ko lang baka dapat kasama sa survival kit ang armas pangontra sa masasamang loob. or pwede ko rin gamitin kung ako ang kailangan na mang-loot. hahaha!

siguro pag may bahay sa probinsya pwede na yun as bug out location. basta marami lang vegetable plants sa paligid. at may poso. back to the basics.

ako nga eh gusto ko na magresign..700meters away lang ako sa fault line dito sa Ortigas..ang dami pang buildings sa paligid namin. eh Paranaque ako nakatira..kamusta naman lalakarin/tatahakin ko pauwi kung maka survive ako. for sure sira lahat ng roads, riot sa labas..buti kung ganun lang. yung bag ko sa ilalim ng table ko is naka ready na. I'm trying to learn and figure out yung map dito sa area namin kung paano ako mas mapapabilis ng uwi..at ano ang puwede kong gawing BOL kung sakaling hindi pa ako makakauwi samin..

will get in touch with our family friend who does survival and disaster preparedness seminar..they also hold their training/seminar sa bundoks..teaching anong halaman ang pwedeng kainin etc..si mama sumali sa training/seminar na yun eh for a few days...as in they would hike sa bundok to find their food, no electricity and water is coming from rivers lang..also doing night training, zero light talaga..etc etc

^ siguro mga sis, we can find out sino sa mga officemate natin ang same area or direction nakatira, tapos pwede tayo magsabay-sabay umuwi. buti na that we walk with other people, as a group. mahirap mag-isa.

i have four kids.  my youngest goes to st paul pasig.  i think two years ago my kids and i talked about this na.  kung papano at ano gagawin namin in case the big earthquake happens.  our main concern talaga is the youngest.  how we're going to get to her in case mangyari yun.  we discussed kung papano na kung wala na communication.  kung wala ng mga sasakyan na makaka travel.  kung saan ang meeting place.  so si bunso was instructed na kung saan sya dapat pumunta para dun namin sya hahanapin.

sis, baka hindi nga ako namatay sa earthquake sa pagod naman.  You won't expect transpo when it happens. If own car naman, I won't risk den na mag-drive that far.

kamusta naman saken, I live in Pasig and work in Eastwood, walang kawala any time it strikes.

Casualties are borne of collapsing structures and not directly because of the earthquake, so maybe consider starting preparedness plans with your homes. This way you'll be more assured that your family will be safe if a strong one hits, at may chance na may uuwian ka pa lalo kung wala or malayo ang BOL mo. If you can have your home professionally checked or retrofitted, please do so.

Just found out our house in Muntinlupa is 0.39km away from the fault line. Natatakot ako for my senior citizen parents na naiiwan dun everyday. Kung abutan man ako ng lindol while at work dito sa Makati, e mukhang di rin ako makakauwi.. depende kung ayos pa SLEX. Nakakatakot

Ang daming important details/tips na hindi pa natin alam/naisip gawin na mahahanp ninyo duon sa discussions and you can also post your questions there if you want to know more on how to survive based sa scenario/location ninyo.

Btw, just a few minutes ago nagka earthquake ng magnitude 4.9 sa Mindoro ayon sa taga duon na nagpost. Ito na kaya ang magtrigger sa west valley fault? ...
