There are 2 kinds of members: the PRINCIPAL - employee or member of the Armed Forces
And the ASSOCIATE member: ang spouse, child and grandchildren of the Principal. Children-in-law and grandchildren-in-law can NOT be AFPSLAI members.
Whether Principal or Associate member: you can have BOTH the Green and Red passbooks, and the Yellow 1 too.
The GREEN (sorry, may PSSLAI din kasi ako so I get confused with the colors; blue sa PSSLAI eh)
GREEN passbook = CAPITAL CONTRIBUTION. It is printed there in front of the passbook.
The interest may go down from year to year. It went to as high as NET 22Percent years ago, now it is down to NET 15.5 p.a.
The Rules common to ALL members with regards to the Green/CapCon account:
1. You can deposit only every 1st 3 or 5 days of each quarter. (Sorry, cannot remember if first 3 or first 5 days kasi matagal Ko na reach the 1mio Max deposit allowed)
So, IF you have not reached the maximum deposit yet: you can add to your account only on Jan 1-3, APRIL 1-3, July 1-3 and Oct. 1-3. After that, no more deposits accepted for the current quarter.
2. If you wanna withdraw your INTEREST, it is allowed only every quarter too, starting on the 25th day of the month AFTER a quarter.
So, you can start withdrawing only on and after April 25, July 25, SEPT 25 and Jan 25.
For ASSOCIATE Members, the Rules for the Green/CapCon account:
1. You can DEPOSIT ONLY 30THOU PER QTR
(This is the latest rule; dati 100thou tapos trim down to 50thou; tapos ayan MAXIMUM DEPOSIT PER 1st 3 DAYS OF EACH QTR TO GREEN/CAPCON account is 30THOUSAND)
2. MAXIMUM DEPOSIT to GREEN/CAPCON account is 1MILLION.
(Once upon a time, 3Million. When this last rule came - we had to take out our excess 2million).
You can withdraw any amount from your Green/CapCon acct anytime BUT your interest will significantly go down.
To what interest? Depends on when you withdraw and how much stays in your CapCon acct.
ALL MEMBERS may open a RED/SAVINGS account.
It earns NET 3 percent
No max deposit, no account maximum too
You can deposit anytime, withdraw too anytime... Interest is based on Average Daily Balance
But you cannot treat it as a regular bank savings account. There are limits to how many times you withdraw before they lower your interest
You can withdraw the interest same sched as for the Green/CapCon account.
If you told the teller/new accounts person you want to deposit more than 30thou -- automatic Bibigyan ka ng RED/Savings account. I am quite sure you were asked how much you were depositing. If You got confused about the 30thou and didn't get the Red account from my earlier post -- I hope this post clarifies it.
What did you check on the form asking how you want to get your dividends/interest on the Green/CapCon account??
I chose to have it in checks to be picked up from AFPSLAI.
My mom chose to have hers deposited to a Landbank account. (ayaw Ko na maintain another account just for those dividends. Landbank isn't 1 of my 4 existing banks.)
Next time you go -- ask what the other options are para makuha mo your dividends.
May 1 option dyan, as long as your interest for the quarter does not go over 30thou -- AFPSLAI automatically keeps your interest as principal in the Green/CapCon account. So it is up to you if habulin mo pa to fill up the kulang to complete the 30thou.
IF sobra Naman - they will put it automatically in the Red/Savings acct the amount over 30thou for the quarter.
So, you check on that form how you want AFPSLAI to deal with your interest.
The new YELLOW passbook is the EDA (I am abroad now & can't chk the exact name. Basta EDA

. )
Nagka gulo last April 25-27 kasi DEADLINE daw for opening of the YELLOW Passbk to be able to get the interest for the Jan-March quarter.
You present your GREEN Passbook with your AFPSLAI ID & you fill up 2 forms
Eto, warning: IF on your passbook meron ka ka-and/or (kami lahat ganon kasi in case anything happens, makuha pa din the funds di ba na hindi pa hold for BIR; or if we are abroad, somebody else can get the interest check) -- that person must also sign your 2 forms.
Then they issue you the Yellow passbook.
Have that updated. Then you can get your interest.
Como I chose to pick up checks from AFPSLAI -- no need to pila to update the Yellow passbook. I just presented it together with my AFPSLAI ID & Green passbook to be able to get my CapCon interest check.
Find out the procedure for whatever collection method you choose.
I went myself with all my cousins kasi to get the Yellow passbook -- you must show your face.
A messenger is the 1 who picks up my and my family's and cousins' post-quarter checks: so, we send an Authorization letter, our AFPSLAI IDs & Green passbooks; and now, add that Yellow passbook.
My Red/Savings, I do not get the interest - add on na Lang yon to my principal.
But I think that is not reflected in the Yellow passbook. "I think ".--- better check.
I hope the above clarified the different accounts.
2 Lang Naman sa AFPSLAI: the Green/Capital Contribution account with Net 15.5% p.a. Interest
& the Red/Savings Account with Net 3% p.a. Interest.
Whether you are a Principal,or Associate Member, you can have both accounts
The difference Lang is in the maximum deposit per quarter to the Green/CapCon & the maximum deposit allowed for that account.
Yung Red/Savings: same same rules for all
