May issue ako when checking folios ng mga HMUA. Di consistent yung makeup or sa lighting yun? Lahat halos ganun eh. But kay Eds kasi consistent kaya I can't determine yung skills din ng HMUA unless you do trial with them which is costly naman. :/

It's hard to rely lang sa mga photos especially now that usong uso ang filters and beauty cameras. You wouldn't know until you actually tried them. How about sa bridal fairs,  may bayad ba ang trial?

I think nasa lighting and camera ng hmua yun kaya minsan di consistent. medyo iba nga hitsura ko from the official photos against dun sa before and after pics nya.

Oo sis mahal magpatrial (2500 in my case), yung makeup trial ko sinabay ko sa isang wedding event para sulit na. I was willing to invest kasi for me important ang hmua para magandang maganda talaga yung bride hahaha. Kasi kahit simple lang gown basta maganda yung bride ok na.

When I went to the Themes & Motifs fair nung March, walang bayad ang trial. Marketing strategy na rin nila kasi yun. That's how I booked Lindsay Lin. I passed by her booth when a lady sat down for a trial. Di pa ako masyadong nakaikot nun, pero I liked her portfolio. Nung bumalik ako tapos na ang HMU trial nung girl and I so loved her work! I booked her agad. Tanong nga niya sa'kin kung gusto ko daw mag-trial muna before booking her. Sabi ko I'm happy with how she did the other lady she still offered, pero I didn't take it na rin dahil may break out ako sa face that time. But I really loved her work.

If I would book a make up artist without a trial, I'd go for mayone bakunawa or lindsay co alog.

Hi bellagirl, do you have to pay for Albert's accommodations aside from the OOT fee? My wedding will be in Boracay and I have no idea if I need to pay for his flights + hotel too. I assume it's just him and an assistant? Hair styling is already included in that too, right? Thanks for the info!

Hi duxelles, no didn't have to pay for accommodation because we're only 2hrs away from Metro Manila. A friend of mine got him for a Cebu wedding and the rate is 90K: bride+2 and 40K OOT Fee, also had to pay (on top of the rate) for the flights and accom for him, assistant and hairstylist. If you'll get retouch only he will leave after your make up is done and it's only the assistant who's gonna do your retouch. If you get him for 2nd look he's gonna leave before reception starts.

Yes kasi you're sort of paying for their lost time in manila na they should have been doin other gigs.. I think that's why they charge OOT fee pa even if the airfare, accomm and food are paid for na..

My friends suggested that I try any HMUA and then give them my peg. Is this advisable, or should I look for hmuas who actually do my kind of style?

wow! nagpatrial ka pa ba sa ibang MUA other than her? may konting issue lang ako, kita mo ba yung pinaka recent na bride na pinost nya? parang di ko masyado bet yung hair and make up.. :/ okay naman nung nagpa trial ako sa kanya kaso di ko din naman masabi kasi di naman na ako nakapapa trial sa iba.. :l

Same lang ba ng brand ng makeup ang gamit ng mga artists? worry ko lang kasi if i book a cheaper HMUA baka cheap din yung makeup and maging oily agad ako during the wedding? If same lang naman then I can opt for artists that has cheaper rates dahil mukhang madami rin namang magagaling na mas affordable.

^i dont think same sila. Most MUAs use high end products (MAC, MUFE, RCMA, Estee Lauder, etc etc) but i've seen some who use naman drugstore ones (L'oreal, Maybelline, etc). Even brushes magkaiba. The cheapest na nascoutan ko na high end would be in the range of 8-12k siguro. Pero i saw some na inexpensive talaga like 1.5k lang. When looking for a MUA you can ask naman sa mga product line na ginagamit nila, i even ask them how they clean their brushes and sponges. Most of them naman ay very hygienic pero para sure, ask mo na din

Not just the expensive vs. cheap make up products but probably the technique as well. If super mahal nga ng makeup tapos maling technique or usage most probably pangit din kakalabasan.

^ you're right sis but i've seen some before and after photos ng mga affordable HMUA na pwede na rin naman, concern ko lang talaga yung products na gamit nila. Kaya i cant decide whether to get an expensive HMUA na magagaling talaga or yung medyo affordable lang na magaling din naman

Just curious, do you girls have makeup pegs or looks that you want for your wedding? Like dramatic eyes + nude lips or no-eyeliner but flushed cheeks?
