Hong Kong Guide (Thread 39)

Subscribing to this thread. Planning to go there aroung july or august. Are there good beaches in Hongkong?

Just got back from Hong Kong. I thought I would never like it but I did. Parang Tokyo and Quiapo in one. We stayed af Empire Hotel Causeway Bay which was actually closer to Tin Hau MTR. Small rooms but clean. Location perfect if you just want a place to sleep and have a shower. Madami shops and restaurants around the hotel, atmosphere is like Quiapo but less chaotic.

Weather was ideal for me, cardigan for morning and night. Puro lakad so papawisan din.

Food reasonably priced and tasty. I went to Yat Lok for the roast goose, Tin Lung Heen for the fine dining Chinese cuisine, afternoon tea at Mandarin Oriental and Royal Legend for yumcha. Masarap roast goose pero nakakaumay din. Bumili rin ako at the airport ng Maxims roast goose, masarap din.

Wala lang nga sale sa malls. I went to North Point for the outlets and Sneaker Street and was disappointed. Maraming shops but they all sell the same stock and very ordinary designs.

I also went to the Peak; I liked the place but I'm afraid of heights so I never enjoyed it that much.

I never had a bad encounter with the locals. Maski broken english they helped us with directions. The waitstaff and the cab drivers were friendly too.

today's our flight. hope there's no delay. from the airport, we'll be taking the airport express to hk station in ifc then ride the shuttle to park lane hotel. pero siguro before that we'll eat at Tim ho wan muna before hopping on the shuttle.

It's our 4th day in hk. We're about to check out from hk disneyland hotel today then we'll transfer to novotel nathan road hotel. Mainit pag daytime but medyo malamig sa gabi.

here in hk na. we arrived last night after 2 hours of delay at naia 3. we rode the airport express train and then transferred to the express shuttle bus in hk station which promptly dropped us at the lobby of park lane hotel in causeway bay. our room partly faces the harbor and Victoria park. Today mainit na so I'm wearing sleeveless kaso parang ako lang ata (except for the caucasians) ang naka sleeveless dito sa causeway bay. naka coat pa rin ang mga locals. now the rain clouds are rolling in and the mountains are getting foggy. sana wag umulan coz we're still going out for dinner. went shopping at twindsor,  hysan place, dfs galleria and Times Square. window-shopped at sogo and ate chicken wings, meatballs and hotdog at ikea. andaming pinoy tourists sa daan, mostly families.

Will be going home to manila tomorrow. Nung nasa disney kami nung from sunday to wednesday malamig pa sa gabi. Pero dito sa tsim sha tsui mainit narin kahit sa gabi.

i miss hk! sayang, hindi ako nakapag shopping nung pumunta kami. puro pang pasalubong lang nabili ko.. kulang na kulang pala talaga ang 3 days plus ang aga ng return flight.

hindi ko naubos hk dollars ko, hindi naman siguro sila magpapalit agad ng pera no? mga sis, ask ko rin pala kung naeexpire ba yung octopus cards? hindi kasi namin naibalik eh kakamadali, haha. parang nabasa ko na ito dati sa previous thread kaso hindi ko na matandaan kung anong sagot.. thanks!

thru agoda lahat booking ko sis except sa golden crown in tst. so far ok naman lahat, no problem naman. i think may sarili na syang thread.

it's getting hotter na. today andami nang naka super short shorts and super short skirts na mga hongkongers. Ang mga taga mainland balot pa rin. I was wishing for an umbrella naman while walking in causeway and in canton road in tst. andaming pinoy families staying at park lane hotel nakakatuwa. when we ate pasta at hysan place today, all the staff except the chef (a Caucasian) are pinoys. alaga rin kami ng isang pinay wait staff sa riva resto on the hotel's rooftop. nagpa picture pa kami tuloy with the German head chef. He cut our steaks in front of us. sa sobrang laki ng steak na take out ko pa. baka baunin ko pa ito when we fly back tomorrow hahaha.

just got back from hk last Sunday. from our hotel, we took the airport express shuttle bus going to the hk station. from there, we rode the airport express train for the airport. at the terminal, we had snacks muna at spaghetti house then browsed thru the shops. daming Caucasians shopping at zara. kakatuwa lang coz it doesn't seem like an airport but a spacious mall.

sissies question, meron din bang for rent na pocket wifi sa hk like sa japan? will be in hk this june. was wondering if meron din sila kasi super big help yung pocket wifi when we were in japan. this would be my second time if ever. excited to bring my baby sa disney

^there's a SIM card for around hkd 289 (if I'm not mistaken) that's being sold at the airport terminal 1 for unlimited internet access good for 7 days. your companion's phone can connect via personal hotspot.

^^hi sis! ginawa ko nung nag hk kami, bumili ako ng sim card, 60HKD unlimited internet access for 3 days. ito kinuha ko since 3 days lang naman kami doon. sa GC ko binili since dun din kami naka check-in. if mas matagal ang stay nyo, alam ko meron pa silang ibang sim na mas matagal yung unli period.

To compare Panda Hotel and Best Western Causeway Bay, which if the more preferable one? Both are in good location with similar price.
