i have decided to open an account na hindi nya alam. it's where i put a portion of my bonuses. hindi naman malaki ang laman, just enough to start over in case gusto ko biglang lumayas. let's say if nag-away kami big time ni hubby. wag naman sana mangyari *knock on wood * pero i want to have enough to rent an apartment, etc. alam nyo yun?

i have seen a friend kasi na as in walang sariling 'emergency' fund, lahat alam ni mister, who is a drunkard. at one point she was worried for the safety of herself and her kids. hindi sya maka-alis agad. she had to borrow from friends like me. nasa abroad din kasi pamilya nya, so wal syang matakbuhan right away.

I have my own savings and investment funds but not hidden. He's aware but only I have access.

Siguro depende sa situation if to hide or not. If you're aware na may bisyo or may "another" si hubby and meron kids involve, it's wise to hide. But, if pareho naman financially okay, I don't think you need to hide, siguro separate accounnts/funds lang.

For me kase, kung ako yun nasa other side of the argument (si hubby yun may hidden money), ciempre I'll feel betrayed na baket may hidden.

We each have our own savings account.. but I manage his account, too. He knows all my bank accounts but he doesn't know the exact money I have in those accounts. My hubby lets me handle our finances naman so I just update him every now and then how much is saved na and how much na yung may utang sakin.. I have a lending business kasi.. so in case, anything happens to me, he knows where the money is. What I dont tell him is the money I have secretly stashed in my closet. I keep money in our house kasi just in case may emergency and di makapunta bank. It's safe naman where we live but I'm thinking of opening another account for it na lang.. and he also doesn't know of my insurance na ang 100 % beneficiary ko is my mom.  :-*

I was advised din by my tita to have a secret account but I don't think this is wise in our case. Hindi naman makwenta hubby ko, magastos lang..  ;D

100% transparent. We know each other's salaries, bonuses, savings pati expenses. We share savings account and credit cards.

To answer TS' question, I think it is okay to have separate accounts but I don't vote for the idea of hiding it from your partner.

Same. :) Nakalatag lahat ng bank accounts namin. Pati monthly gastos or kinapuntahan ng pera at kinitang pera from business. Super transparent kame. Though sa bonus ko from my work, hinahayaan na nya, basta anything na bonus. But I still tell him na napunta sa ganito yan, ganyan, ganun. :)

samin naman ang usapan, pera nya - pera namin, pera ko - pera ko. haha. kidding aside...  we're newly married (less than 1 year) and we decided na ako mag manage ng financials.  hubby just keeps his allowance for his daily needs, etc. then everything else is deposited to our joint account. i'm the one paying the household bills, utilities, grocery, etc.  we are both aware din of how much our salary is.  wala naman secret.

But, for the first 6 months of our marriage, i kept most of my money. hindi ko pa sinasama sa joint account. and hubby is okay with that.  i told him kasi that I want to save money for emergencies i.e. for my dad / immediate family.
i just paid for all the "wants" like eating out, movies, and all my other expenses like cellphone bill, office food, transpo.   6 months after, i just keep a small percentage of my salary for my personal account, then all the rest is for our joint account na.  i allocated our salaries such that his will be for the needs, and mine for the wants.  pero bawas muna ang savings.  everything is accounted for, except for our personal accounts na di na namin pinapakialaman.

we are both transparent naman with our money. he is aware of all my personal accounts and investments.  and pag mag ttravel ako mag-isa, i give him all my personal account details para pag may nangyari, ma withdraw nya.

i think having a personal account is okay kasi para may pang bili din ng stuff na hindi na kailangan pa ipaalam sa partner.  like if mag iipon ako ng for luho or for his gift, it will come from my personal account and not from the joint account.  or kung may family emergencies, i won't dip into our joint account. nag agree naman kami both sa ganon setup. :)

Hide your savings account if your husband has a physical /emotional/economical abusive tendency, addiction (drugs, gambling), habit of cheating, etc. You'ĺl never know when you might need an emergency fund.

But if your husband has none of the above mentioned tendencies, then better to be transparent. Hidden accounts could trigger friction or other trust issues in your marriage. And syempre, maganda pa rin ang honesty between spouses.

Works best for me yung ganitong setup kasi less money management and less discussion sa pera. If we want to buy something, tingin lang sa bank account. Kung may pera, go. Kung wala, eh di wag muna bumili. If also helps us plan better for investments and for the future. We know when we can buy a new car or make upgrade sa bahay kasi nakalatag lahat ng pera eh. We also both know kelan kailangan magtipid kasi makikita naman kung may pera or wala. We give money to both sides of the family and kasama na sa budget yun.

Hehe. So I usually buy gifts, the day before his bday para may element of surprise. Makikita na lang nya in the next few days na nakacharge na sa card. Hehe.

It helps that I am married to someone I can fully trust when it comes to money.  :)

I don't. Sa amin we are very transparent, we always talk. Whether its a big bonus or a small salary increase  we tell each other and we celebrate those. :) although hubby manages our finances and pays the bills. When I get paid I transfer everything to the joint account. From there bahala na si hubby mag-manage.

This works for us. I think sobrang important kay hubby ang trust. At the same time align din ang goals namin so we always say we are a team.

I do have a personal account but maintaining balance lang ang laman. We have our own credit cards, that's what we use to buy presents for each other. We seldom use our CC, we use our joint account for living expenses.

Parang doomsday prepper lang. Hehe.

Nope, not hiding money from hubby

We both have own account. Pero hindi alam kung magkano.
Hubby knows the exact figure of my salary
Kaya alam nya I have savings.

as long as all fixed expenses are paid and shoulder by him.

Plan ko dati magtago kaso naisip ko what's the use
Sabi sa "secrets of fascinating womanhood" its a husband's job so be it  :)

ako hindi. I tell him kung magkano salary ko, bonus, at even yung earnings ko from my sidejobs. eh sasabihin lang naman eh, di ko na ibibigay sa kanya eh. hehe. ako pa rin may hawak ng ng lahat ng income ko. alam nya din na may sariling akong bank account, pero di nya alam how much yun. and never nya audit yun. may separate bank account din naman sya. basta importante lahat ng bills at needs naming sa bahay are always settled, then no issue.

both naman kami ni hubby open for this. I handle all the money, kumukuha lang sya kung magkano kailangan nya..

I have a savings account that he doesnt know. I consider that as our lifetime saings kaya no matter what, di sya pwedeng galawin hehe! di magagalit hubby ko if he finds out someday.
