Hello.. For me kasi parang hindi dapat.

Me, as in empoyer YES. Not because youre on sick leave it doesnt mean I cannot call you if it is really urgent. There are matters that cant wait until you can return for work. Some processes cannot be stopped just because you're on SL. You also need to consider paano yung company if di nila ala anong gagawin and its urgent tapos naka SL ka. Sometimes it is also better to put yourself in your employer shoes.

If its petty, then its a foul. Hope this helps

If its just simple things then its foul lalo na if kaya naman ng ibang employees or alam ng iba gawin yun. And if the all is beyond working hours, no no rin. Ako kasi i make sure if its work related and nakaleave tao ko, till 5 PM pa rin lang ako tatawag. And if is beyond 5, i normally text my employee if its okay to call because im gonna ask something important.

Badtrip kaya yun kasi imagine may sakit ka nga pero naalala ka lang itext not out of concern sa kalagayan mo but bec of work related things lang.

I am the employer -- so, yes, I call/we call if there is something urgent nobody else can answer/locate/decide on.  I don't think our employees mind -- they know we respect their privacy.  They readily respond naman, may mga malasakit.  70percent of our employees have been with us for 10 years or more.   It's a Triple A construction company,  with hundreds of employees --  so I can confidently state we have good employer-employee relantionships.

Ako I believe that management needs to ensure someone backs up someone else. That is one of the things na hindi ko natutunan sa Pilipinas. Kahit nga manager namin, ine-entrust nya sa kapwa manager or sa supervisor part of her job in the event that she is sick or during vacation.

When I was working in the Philippines, I got calls a lot. It is irritating but I answer the calls because I thought I have to. I felt that I am a responsible human being and I that should. I got calls when I am sick, I got calls when I was about to be admitted at the hospital, I got calls during my honeymoon, and so on. I mind but I feel that I have to after all I am paid to that job.

But then when I moved outside the country, I realized that what we had sa employer ko sa Pinas is poor management. But operations wise, some one backs me up and I back up for someone. So no need for them to call me when I am away. Actually ang personal number dito is for emergency situations lang, as in tipong may danger sa buhay or nasusunog office, etc. We really spend time updating and improving manuals and processes, that way kahit wala kami, talagang recorded everything that we do.

-- yes tama ka sis. tumatawag siya around 8 pm to as things na I know, alam lang niya. Meaning, I ask pa niya ako mag online for that thing.

-- sis I agree! Kapag merong good ER-EE relationship, actually okay lang to help yung boss if in need talaga eh. Kasi tyung concern mo lalabas talaga.

It's a simple matter of putting an automatic out-of-office reply on email and putting the number or email address of my back-up.

Else, I'm not available when I'm SL which is really rare.  Another matter, when I'm on VL only.
I'm still responsible and expected to answer emails for things only I know.

Depends on the situation. In your case, your boss seems to be overdoing it. I get calls from my boss din but I know as much as possible, she doesn't want to. Talaga lang if it's an emergency and she has no clue. But what I know, for the most part, she knows.

May I ask wala ka ba na back up employee for your job? If nasa shared drive naman yung hinahanap nya well thats what I call tamad. I remember I called my employee na naka SL kasi i know every files naman nasa shared drive. It turns out, she forgot to save it sa shared drive just on her computer. So I needed her password for that laptop since it was a contract for that day's client's meeting.  Mga ganun na case siguro understandable pa, pero with your boss na di naghanap muna, maybe he/she needs to learn how to look first before disturbing other people lalo na naka SL.

^ for medyo complicated tasks, yes wala. But during na naka SL ako, ginawa ko parin namna yung job ko, na I know walang ibang makakagawa. Pero, in the end, lahat inuutos na niya without even trying na gawin muna.

Like what I said if simple and nasa shared drive naman na pala lahat, tamad ang tawag dun.

Yes it's ok.   If he needs to call, it means i didn't provide adequate documentation for that process he's asking about.
Or you can look at it the other way too, that you're indispensable, they cannot survive without you.  :)

My boss and ex-bosses usually text me first if it's ok to call. Tipong, "is it a good time to call you right now?"

Ok lang sakin yung ganun. When I'm able, ako na mismo tatawag. Ganun din ako with people I work with na nag-SL. Kapag  hindi nagreply, it means, they really can't take a call. Respeto na lang. Baka tulog or whatever.

As an employee, sakin ok lang, espcially if Urgent talaga at ako lang ang makakasagot.

SL na nga ako and I specifically mentioned na nasa Hospital ako and won't be able to answer ASAP, aba after she received the text, tawag ng tawag eh I'm talking to my doctor tapos ang next text ba naman sa akin ay.. I should be answering her calls because it's my job ek ek.. at galit pa siya...

Pero eto pa.  I am hospitalized, I brought my laptop in the hospital coz my manager asked me to, so that if may urgent pede daw ako macontact. Ok fine, payag ako given that she should contact my back up and TL first before contacting me..
pero nung tinawagan ako while I'm doing a test at hindi ko nasagot..sinabihan ba naman ako na I should be reliable and cooperative. duh.

D ko na kinaya, i sent an email to this manager copied yung back up ko at yung TL ko na mga puro pa cute lang. I told her that I am in the hospital, resting and besides I have a back up and a Team LEad that can answer her queries with the link where they can find the process documents

I just found out na hindi naman pala kinocontact yung back up and si TL because busy daw sila.

ginawa ko ngang chargeable yung naospital ako.. eh parang work from hospital ang nangyari sa kin.

This is the last straw.. I resigned

Minsan kasi hindi din naman ako mapakali pag I know na they need something from me, ako na nag rereply.
