Hi! Newbie here so di ako maka-reply sa  PM. Pasensiya na. 😊

This is also equity fund but with dividends. May additional buffer or cushion pag nakaroon ng downturn ang market. Tipong you're getting the best of both worlds. 😉

Ugh, I CANNOT with our Sun Life agent. First, she likes to mention na "piso pa lang" yung mga funds nila. Classic mistake of insurance companies' self-proclaimed financial advisors -- it is NEVER about the NAV!

Today, she tried selling me this fund fact sheet of their latest fund, the Dynamic Fund, and it says there that the fund grew 6.6% from Jan-Mar 2015 while the PSEi supposedly only did 5.7%. LIES -- the PSEi was skyrocketing at that time and was clearing close to 10% YTD. Their fund DID NOT outperform the PSEi, as they claim on the fund fact sheet.

How can they sleep at night knowing that they're intentionally misleading people? And these people are supposed to be finance advocates! Maybe it's a small thing and maybe people don't care, but I just absolutely don't like misinformation especially in finance.

3. On your third question, I would advise that you capitalize on the Guaranteed Face Amount sa magiging policy mo. This would serve as a "safety net" sa investment mo. Protected kumbaga yung mga in-out mong savings na nilipat mo sa insurance investment mo. It also takes commitment and siyempre kung ano rin yung magiging comfortable sa iyo na i-allocate mo sa policy mo. Kung may naka-standby ka lang na pera sa low interest earning investment vehicle, it's really much better to look for other avenues that would maximize your returns.

By the way, try to check on the new product, Growth Plus Fund. Very promising. ;)

Good luck! :)

Hi! Sorry nakikibasa & tanong. Just asking what you mean by capitalize the Guaranteed Face Amount? Do you mean to say she should choose a different plan?

ganun din sinabi ng agent ko sis.. piso palang daw. pero buti nalang hindi ko na kinuha. :-(

@m_lim and gilmonica, BPI came out with a more down to earth description of
a dividend focused equity fund which is:

The fund will tend to lag behind "regular" equity funds during bull(up) markets
whereas it will not go down as much during bear(down) markets.

Doesn't mean it will but it will tend to.

@ikaela, I would like to think that she didn't mislead you maliciously
and that she was just ignorant.

Check out http://cdn.sunlife.com/static/philippines/Products%20and%20Services/Mutual%20Funds/Static%20Files/Fund%20Fact%20Sheets_March%202015_Dynamic%20Fund.pdf

The figures she gave out are correct but the 5.7% return is for the fund's benchmark
and the benchmark is not the PSEi. It's 50% of PSEi and 50% of some bond index

And about the piso fund thing. I personally believe it's tantamount to being unethical
but I guess it works from a marketing perspective. You can tell by how many posts here
getting excited by a new fund and that since it's new it would be "cheap"

^Thanks for the link. The one I was given showed the Dynamic Fund was invested in, like, 90% equity, so it makes no sense to me why they would use 50 PSEi-50 bonds as the benchmark. Or is that what makes the fund "dynamic", na pwede magshift between aggressive and conservative depending on market conditions? Hay, ako pa nag-explain sa sarili ko (pertaining to my agent who only seemed to care about the projections.)

I wish I could say that our agent is just trying to sell a product to us, but she tells me things like, "guaranteed na kikita kayo diyan", "wala kayo talo dito", on top of the "piso lang kasi kaya ang laki ng kinita". Blatant lies. Also wish we got a different agent, but... we needed to return a favor.

yeah, and I personally think it's unfair to use such
an index. maybe the index should also get adjusted
along with the fund's allocation to keep it fair  ;D

Wow, that won't be a healthy relationship. Maybe
try to educate her? I'm sure she's lying to you
unknowingly.

I have a friend who works for Axa and she
spouted the same "lies" but that was years and
years ago.. she knows better now.

I'm interested in getting a plan. My needs are mainly 1) health coverage, 2) saving enough money for retirement. It would be great if my parents can benefit from this as well.

I want to start early while I'm younger, so that my money is already starting to make money. What sorts of plans/riders do you recommend for me? I don't mind allotting a portion of my salary every month for this.

Ask ko lang po tama ba na yung first quarterly payment mo sa agent ibibigay and then yung 4th month pwede ng magbayad direct sa office? Ganun ba talaga yun?

Yes, but I trusted my agent and we still transacted at
their office. My next payments were online.

^ Hi Sis,

I think the closest to what you want is a VUL product na may critical illness benefit. Yan yung existing.

Although may narinig akong chismis tee hee!

Meron daw irerelease na product na may kasamang health benefit this coming July. Iba pa ito sa critical illness.

Details, di pa binigay e. Niluluto pa lang daw

You need to sit down with a financial advisor so you can discuss everything in details.

What's the difference between SunLife VUL and SunLife Pension Plus Plan? Ano ba ang mas magandang kunin. This is for my hubby, our main goal is for retirement fund at the same time education fund for our daughter.

As far as I know, Sunlife no longer sells Pre-need plans so your question
is moot. Pension Plus is no longer available.
