my sister is getting maxilink prime with hospital income benefit... however, it's says sa proposal that they'd be allocating 100% to Growth Plus fund.

The question is, we're totally a newbie when it comes to VULs, etc. no idea at all :(

Is it safe to allocate the fund sa Growth Plus Fund instead of Balance Fund? What's the difference aside sa mas bago ang growth plus.

We want to ask sana our experienced GTers before we talk to our advisor..

TIA!

I'm not familiar with the terms but there's no such thing as a "safe" investment. Those should be visible in their website so try to study them and gauge your risk appetite before deciding.
There's also risk assessment that your agent should complete before advising on what fund is best for you.

Besides, pwede naman mag palit ng fund anytime in case you change your mind.

^^Based on the Sun Life website, the Growth Plus Fund is made up more of aggressive investments while the Balanced Fund is a mix of aggressive and conservative investments.

If you are planning to hold, not touch, and not withdraw from that VUL for 5 years or more, it's okay to keep it 100% in the Growth Plus Fund.

sorry for the term "safe".. what i meant was "less risky"  ;D From what i've read and heard, equity fund yata yung mejo high risk (pls. correct me if i'm wrong) .. actually my sister is considering 100% equity fund habang bata pa daw sya saka na lang daw nya i-change, say after 5 years(?)

(ako lang nag-eencourage na mag balanced fund muna sya while we're trying to learn investments, etc haha)...

we want to do our assignment (by asking around and knowing the advantages and disadvantages of each fund) before we meet with the advisor. Just so we know the "right" questions to ask. :P

Thanks for the help ikaela and j.adore

Hi Sis,

First of all congratulations for making the first step into winning in finance which is you've decided to do something. I would encourage you to sit down with a financial advisor with a heart of a teacher that can teach (and not sell) you how to build your finances. Financial planning is just free. If you want to get in touch with my husband which is a Assistant Unit Manager in Sun Life just send me a PM.

FA's wife

I'm interested in getting a plan. My needs are mainly 1) health coverage, 2) saving enough money for retirement. It would be great if my parents can benefit from this as well.

I want to start early while I'm younger, so that my money is already starting to make money. What sorts of plans/riders do you recommend for me? I don't mind allotting a portion of my salary every month for this.

Hi Sis!

Thats definitely fine, just follow up with your FA regarding the OR and the policy once approved. You can also check on doing the payment on any bayad centers or online bills payment through BDO or BPI.

Sun Life FA's wife

Ask ko lang po tama ba na yung first quarterly payment mo sa agent ibibigay and then yung 4th month pwede ng magbayad direct sa office? Ganun ba talaga yun?

Mutual Funds :)

Your timeline - kung kailan mo gusto mag pull out ng funds - totally depends on you.

Kailangan mo lang ma-gets na if you want higher return, higher din ang risk na kinukuha mo. Risk na magalaw ang presyo ng mga units dun sa investment such that kung gusto mo na siyang kunin, you will be selling at a loss. Kaya depending on your risk appetite and timeframe mo malalaman saan mo dapat nilalagay ang pera mo

May separate license para sa mutual funds. Only a Certified Investments Solicitor (CIS) can sell you Mutual Funds managed by an investment company.

Katunayan, may training kami this week. Tapos next week exams na :)

Mas na-appreciate ko na ang different types of securities like equities and bonds

we have a Sunlife Maxilink Bright VUL and we chose annual payment.. is it okay to pay the premium partially? say for example our premium is 200K and is due on November but we'd like to start paying this June about 40K a month until the premium of 200K has been covered.. is that possible? or will Sunlife consider the payments as top up?

TIA, tried asking our agent but unfortunately not very helpful.. (they were very helpful at the start when we haven't signed up yet)..

Alam ko you need to follow the payment plan or advise them if you will change it. Else, top up gagawin nila sa incoming payments.

can someone please show me pano mag compute?

kung 2 kids tapos around 55yrs old graduate na mga anak ko, until when ko kailangan ng insurance?

i think ang silbi ng whole life or yung VUL eh kung naka graduate nga mga anak mo pero hindi naman financially independent, eh sila makakagamit ng maiiwan mo from your plan. pero ayaw ko naman yan mangyari saken.

Mura lang siya in the sense na fixed yung annual premium and after 5 or 10 years, the fund can support this annual premium. Less payout for the clients

But the charges are high especially for the first years of the policy so the fund value is low

@m_lim, what j.adore said.

The charges are super heavy on the first 5 years
then it tapers off from the 5th-10th year then after
the 10th year COI na lang babayaran mo, hahabol
na ang fund value nyan.

^yes, i know hahabol nga ang fund value pero sobrang tagaaaal talaga.

BTID= kung consistent ang disiplina mo to save and invest, reap the rewards later
ka rin. if not, may chance na pag matanda ka na or ma dead ka, hopia ka.
