^that's sad to hear. iwan mo lang siguro until tumaas ulit.

december and january pala ako nakabili, at the lowest nasa 1.73 yata yung navpu ng equity fund, and now it's in the region of 2.08. so parang 16% gain? anyway sana umabot ulit ng 2.6 which is the highest inits history.

Relax lang po guys. Yes sometimes its frustrating lalo na pag may loss ang investments nyo however if you have long term goal thats only paper loss. Remember di lang lagi down ang PSEi tulad ngayon slowly moving up na ulit sila. Even me I have loss and also I have gains na din basta keep on investing and apply peso cost averaging that way mawawala [textspeak!] pag ka inis nyo kasi kahit papaano [textspeak!] ibang investments nyo is may gain. keep on monitoring lang and tiwala lang sa mga fund managers natin and sa economy lalo na nandyan na ang tinatawag na change is coming. :)
 ;)

^True. The SB Peso Equity Fund still has a very good 12.45% return per annum since it was created. The benchmark, the PSEi, is at 12.14%.

Sure, the downturns in the SB Fund are really scary, but that is the risk you accept in investing in an aggressively managed fund. Hopefully, it will be like Union Bank's Large Cap. Phil. Equity Fund. It goes from star fund to kulelat fund each year, but overall, Union Bank's fund has averaged a very respectable 17.82% return per annum.

For you to see that kind of return, you have to stay invested and continue investing. AND you also must believe in Security Bank's fund managers.  ;D

If your faith is not that strong, stick with the middling funds at UCPB, MetroBank, or BPI's (or go with index funds). They all have their heyday anyway. Like last year it was BPI. This year, it's BDO's time to shine.

To those who have the cashback credit card, kumusta naman? Napapa-waive niyo yung annual fee? Ano lumalabas na average % rebate na nakukuha niyo?

Not sure kasi kung kunin ko ito or yung credit cards na 1-1.5% rebate on everything. Hassle din yung feedback na kailangan physically pumila dun sa Globe/Smart/utilities para makuha yung 3% rebate, at yung ibang supermarkets naka-tag as shopping instead of groceries.

No but you need a savings account to use their online platform so when they mandated old savings account to have a maintaining balance from 500 to several thousands(5k ata, sorry I forgot) I wasn't willing to have that much just sitting in a savings account so I stopped contributing to my Security Bank UITF.

Coincidentally, I wasn't able to cost average down because of this. I just found it too inconvenient to go to the branch to invest every time.

Just opened a Build-Up Savings Account yesterday, my first account with SB. It came with a passbook and ATM (which will be released by next week).

Nagapply ako ng UITF kahapon, ang bilis lang.
Fill up lang ng form online, tapos wala pang 1 hour may tumawag na sakin from Security Bank. :)

Nag-open din kami ni hubby ng Money Builder account, yun gagawin namin for EF na account. Para madisiplina na rin kami na ang EF di gagalawin unless totoong emergency. Hindi na namin kinuha yun atm para wala na talagang temptation. Pag nareach na namin yun 50k ipapalipat naman namin ng Premium Builder Up account para meron perks na up to 3 withdrawals in a year pero still 1%p.a. pa rin ang interest.
