^^ Hi sis rae, mukhang ok rin sa BPI a. :)

^Hi sis Ma.Jewel_1987. Yup, that's it in Investment tab then Subscribe. Sa pagkakaintindi ko every P5k pwede magka-CoP. So I guess pwede for example up to P9k pero under 1 CoP lang sya.
(P5k atleast to the Peso Equity fund, not sure with other types of uitf baka same lang rin.)
Tapos sa Subscribe, meron link na view subscriptions. Dun mo makikita rin yung link of the reference number for your CoP, if successful(I guess naka-depend rin ito sa business banking day). Magkakaron ka ng text and e-mail confirmation once available.

Almost 4k each na ang paper loss ko sa 2 UItF ko sa SECB.  Nakakalungkot talaga.. And I'm so torn between opening another now that navpu is so down or I just let my existing recover maybe after 5 years.. Hay

I have a Peso Asset Varierty Fund and so far I am happy naman (sadsad kasi nung bili ko last month) kumikita naman sya. i have a few q's:

1.)In this time, is it a good time to get an Equity Fund? Mababa na ba o pwede pang pababain? Im thinking one time big time na for high dividend habang mababa pa.

2.)Saka tama ba ako isipin na since si BPI and BDo ay tig 150+ na yung Navpu, magigigng ganun din security bank (awa ng Dyos) should i decide to stick it out with them?

3.) if i want to increase ny invest, ent sabisa kin kailangan cash out muna tapos pasok ka ulit. pero bdo is not like that.

hope you sisses can help.

1. The Phil Stock Index is at its lowest range this year. Mahirap timingan ang market if mas bababa pa. Anyway, sometimes, when we wait, baka never na tayo makapag-invest. I suggest, to start now and aral along the way.

2. Don't compare the NAVPU to check kung ano yung mababa per fund, look at the performance.
To illustrate: Php 150 NAVPU pero yung ROI is 100% = doble pera mo.
Php 1 NAVPU pero yung ROI is 0% = hindi naggrow ang pera mo.
Also, past performance doesn't predict future performance. Last year, best performer si Security Bank. This year, BPI ata. Kung long term, I think in the end halos parepareho lang yan kasi susunod lang sila sa philippine stock index.

3. Trading ba yung sinasabi mo sis? Mag-t-trade ka ng UITF. I read a blog post about it. Pero for me, if mag-ttrade ka, magstocks ka na lang. UITF is more for longterm investment. Mahirap kasi timingan na magcacashout ka pag mataas tapos pasok ka ulit kapag mababa. You have to be really knowledgeable sa kung paano tumatakbo ang stock market para magawa yun. And it might cause you unnecessary stress na magbabantay ka nang magbabantay.

Hi rae,

thanks for patiently answering my questions  ;D

1.) medyo i'm scared with equity yet and malaking halaga pa ipapasok ko. admittedly im not in the agressive zone yet pero i want the rewards that goes with it. im just worried na im getting ahead of myself and waiting may cost me at baka sumipa na navpu.

2.) hahaha all i got was tataas din sila which is OK with me.

3.) what im planning is increase my investment (e.g. from 30k to 40k) ang sabi sakin ng naghanalde kailangan cash out muna taps invest uli para ganun.

Sobrang lugmok ng SB now. Di ko tuloy sure kung sinwerte lang sila last year or what. Parang flash in the pan ang dating kasi. Or is that how banks really are? I understand some banks perform better than others in one year, then the next iba nanaman. But ang baba kasi talaga ng SB now so nakakaduda. I'm thinking of just adding funds to the more established, albeit conservative banks like BPI, or even BDO.

^^ Nalito ako by what you meant by cash out. :D  I thought, when you convert stocks or other funds to money or cash,  you "cash out". Although iba iba din kasi.

Maybe yung sinasabi sayo is peso cost averaging. Don't put everything there agad in one go. It's more conservative that way. Eg kung may 120k ka, divide it in 12 tapos mag-invest ka every month ng 10k. That way, pag mataas pala yung NAVPU pagpasok mo, makakabili ka pa at succeeding months in case bumaba.

Security Bank's Peso Equity Fund is not the worst performing fund this year, believe it or not. It's UnionBank's Large Cap. Equity Portfolio at -13.34% YTD.

Security Bank seems to be following UnionBank fund's pattern where they are the absolute superstar in bull runs, but are the worst when things go south.

The good thing about this is the stellar returns in their good years more than make-up for the losses in the bad years. UnionBank is not the best now, but had you stayed invested in them since the crash of 2008, you would still have more money today than in any other managed fund.

Compare this with BPI's equity funds that people seem to be so dazzled by right now. BPI was super kulelat in the years when other funds were making a killing. I don't understand why the +/- 3% that BPI's equity funds are making above the benchmark is already putting stars in people's eyes. Well, hopefully, this is the start of better fund management in BPI and not just them being ultra-conservative again.

Anyway, if Security Bank continues the pattern, -- and IF you can stomach the downtrends -- then maybe it's a good idea to stay invested in them.

Security Bank's performance is actually comparable to the index. It was just in the last year that they took a more aggressive stance, which paid off for them in 2014, but became a major liability this year.

@ikaela, if you were to pick a BPI UITF (equity), which one would you pick? If ever lang ah, lesser of all evils. :D

Anyway, I will subscribe to SB's UITF just as soon I get the funds =) Nakahold pa ang pera because of some circumstances....

My paper loss is nearly 10% now. I should have redeemed it when I still had
a 10% paper gain, total kaka alis lang nila ng holding period. Oh well  ::)

Don't chase returns daw so I'm just holding on  ;D
