I'm planning to open a Kiddie account for my son. According to the SB branch I visited .25% lang interest pero sabi sa SB online, 0.50% naman. Any sissies here who has a kiddie acct under SB?

Yes and that's because it's a term used for VULs(insurance product)

Nagpadala sila ng email, market update and what has been causing the performance of the equity fund to lag? Nakatanggap din kayo mga sis?

Nag top up ako last week, para pag bumalik sa level nung unang pinasok ko na pera kahit paano may kita

@tischarmedlife O.50% sis ang interest ng junior one account pero you should maintain P4000 to earn that interest. :)

Baka kasi last year lang sila maganda ang performance. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Anyone familiar with the FWD bancassurance with SB? What's your take on this?

I was supposed to invest in UITFs this week, but the bank manager offered this and after talking to a FWD agent, it seemed like the better deal. May insurance component, but it's mostly investment (UITFs also but with lower NAVPU - less than P1) that you can't touch for the next 5 years.

Sobrang bagsak ng SB Equity fund ngayon (uitf). If you have funds, sa BPI nalang muna, either high Dividend or the equity value fund.

Meron na akong initial investment sa SB 10K and mababa presyo nya ngayon pero nag add ako 10K ulit today kasi mas maganda buy now na mababa ang value. If long term naman plan, I think ok lang. Planning to add and add lang for long term investment, hopefully after ilang years e super taas na ng value nila.

neni: the fund mentioned in the commercial is Security Bank's Peso Equity Fund. It has only been in existence for 5 years. Since its inception 5 years ago, the fund has blown all other pooled equity funds out of the water when it comes to performance.

However, the fund has not been tested yet in a bear market. It clearly shines and dazzles in this bull run, but we have yet to see how it performs when sh!t hits the fan. Right now, it isn't even a bear market yet, but the fund has become a laggard.

As for BPI and BDO's equity funds, they also have their heyday. This year, it is BPI doing well. But had you invested with BPI 5 years ago, you would have bitterly watched all other funds overtake you and leave you in the dust.

In short, don't chase returns or over-analyze which fund is the best performer. It is better to set a target for yourself -- say, double your money or have enough to buy a car/pay tuition/buy a house and lot -- and stick to it.

kobekitten: It sounds like you were being sold insurance. If you came for investment, then stick with a UITF. Unless you really should be insured, there is no need for you to pay the extra charges and be limited by the rigid redemption period/charges in the investment-linked insurance.

That is one downside of banks' UITFs -- they don't have the same customer service as mutual funds. If you go to a bank not knowing about UITFs or what to get, you will most likely be sold insurance rather than be given a pure investment product.

^ thanks for the feedback. I studied the VUL that was being offered and realized that I don't need insurance--at least not at the moment. I've decided to go for pure investment instead (UITFs).

Has anybody had experience with fraudulent/unauthorized transactions in their DEBIT cards? Did Security Bank give your money back?

Thief was able to use my SB ATM to purchase items without entering a PIN, but only by signing. When I opened my account, I wasn't made aware that the SB ATM, or any ATM for that matter, could be transacted PIN-less.  >:(

Just an update. I got my money back. I LOVE SECURITY BANK ;D
