Ugh, I know. Their fund managers made such horrible moves in the first quarter. They struck gold in MAXS, but in everything else -- dropping DNL, betting big on casino stocks, having NIKL as their top holding -- they lost horribly.

Nasabi niyo na all the reasons why Security Bank's equity funds are kulelat this year. They're invested too heavily on non-moving or underperforming stocks while they're under-invested or not invested at all in high flyers. Their current top holding alone, which is NIKL, dropped by -10% just yesterday.

This I have to say though: Security Bank's equity fund remains to have the best track record and historical performance in the past 5 years among all pooled funds. They haven't been beat -- yet.

Has anybody had experience with fraudulent/unauthorized transactions in their DEBIT cards? Did Security Bank give your money back?

Thief was able to use my SB ATM to purchase items without entering a PIN, but only by signing. When I opened my account, I wasn't made aware that the SB ATM, or any ATM for that matter, could be transacted PIN-less.  >:(

@Kobe, the same policy for credit cards would probably apply
i.e. your liable for all transactions before you reported the theft/loss
of your card.

I hope not for your sake though.

Why didn't you know about the signature based capability of your
card though? As far as I know, the bank explicitly advertises that
your ATM card can be used online, etc.

My Security Bank ATM is still the old local Bancnet one. But yours
is probably the newer one with Mastercard.

All of my ATM cards are local, even my BDO one(It used to be
a Mastercard Debit card) except for my EastWest ATM Card.
It's a VISA card but I only keep 200-500 pesos. Pang paypal :D

Kung may mastercard yun, malamang nakuha na nya yun details dun sa card mo. Pati yung security code sa likod. I think pag-online purchases, pwede magawa ng kahit sino yun as long as alam nya yung details dun sa card mo kahit walang pirma-pirma.

@kobe

@heartfortress @mxherr5 @drowningpanda @cutemama

it appears that the merchant does not strictly follow security procedures (to require a PIN). and you're right @cutemama, it was used in SM. i filed a report already and talked to the manager of the branch where i opened my account. they've been great, very attentive. i hope i get my hard-earned money back.

^ It's not that SM didn't follow security procedures, it's that it is a debit mastercard. Ganun din with BDO debit mastercards before. Di talaga kelangan ng PIN.

Pero you can ask for a chargeback. And they should allow that.

Right, and whoever stole your card could ask
for signature imbes na pin.

If I remember correctly sa BDO, you can charge
a smaller amount if signature lang. Yun na ang
parang "security" nya.

^ Most of my friends redeemed na. Ako nag-top up, haha. Long-term funds naman sya, and medyo mataas talaga risk appetite ko, I'm just not sure if I'm being smart about this.

actuall, long term talaga dapat pagtingin sa UITF. also, iba iba ang galaw ng performance. dati naman di maganda ang performance ng BPI pero ngayon, mas ok, esp yung equity fund.
