Mga sis may tanong po ako regarding sa pag change ng citizenship. May apply kasi ako and yun country na pinag-aplayan ko walang dual citizenship so kelangan ko i-surrender ang Philippine passport ko. Naginquire ako sa embassy and in case gusto ko magbakasyon sa pinas considered alien na ako, it means travelling like a tourist at need na ng visa. Meron ba sa inyo na same ng case ko and any idea kung nag-iisue ba sa atin ng National ID for foreign Filipinos, may ibang country kasi na meron nito and hindi na nila required ng visa if they want to travel back to their home country. And one more thing, if in case mag change na ako ng citizenship does it mean useless na din ba pagibig at SSS ko? And what if gusto naming bumili ng property sa Pinas possible kaya? TIA

i'm a US citizen by naturalization and it's true that once i've taken the oath of allegience,  i've given up my Phil birth citizenship because the US does not allow dual citizenship.  pero Philippines DOES ALLOW dual citizenship for natural born Filipinos.  that's what expats do to acquire properties sa Pinas, stay longer without needing a visa and run for office.   all you have to do is go to the Philippine embassy of your city/country with the requirments (the original Philippine issued birth certificate for one or Philippine passport if you kept it).  you don't get another passport per se,  they issue a letter that you keep with you and shop to the Phil immigration when you enter/exit Pinas.
so you have 2 important documents when travelling between US and Pinas.  you can lookup dual citizenship for Filipinos in the web.
my late parents had that arrangement bec they retired in Pinas and needed to own property to live in.
in summary, you can re-acquire your Filipino citizenship only for the purpose of owning property, living there or public office.  for US citizens, the US gov't does not care as long as you don't use the Filipino citizenship here in the US.
anyway,  that's for US citizens,  idk how different other countries are.

Thats the problem sis for them to give the new passport they have to collect my Philippine passport, so no chance to apply dual citizenship.

Saan country yan sis? My husband works for the DFA as Vice-consul, and he's asking why is that country asking you to surrender your passport when a PH passport is PH government property, not personal property.

Anyway, if that is what's the other country is asking you to do, then as what TysLolakins advised above, go to the PH embassy there, present at least one of the ff: your birth certificate, passport (if possible), marriage contract, or Voter's ID,  to re-acquire your PH citizenship. Once you re-acquire your PH citizenship, the PH embassy can issue you a new passport. You can visit cfo.gov.ph (look for dual citizenship) to know the other requirements. But my husband advised na asikasuhin mo muna naturalization mo dyan, kasi you have to be a naturalized citizen of that country first bago mo mare-acquire yung dual citizenship. You have to present pa kasi sa PH embassy yung proof of naturalization mo dyan sa other country.

Kung gusto mo magbakasyon sa  Pinas, considered as balikbayan ka,  you don't need a visa, if they ask for a proof of your being a former Filipino, dapat may dala ka lang na proof like old passport or  birth certificate (pero usually, di na sila naghahanap nun, they can tell naman basing siguro sa looks or sa pagsasalita) .  I've  lost my Philippine Citizenship din due to 'naturalization' but ilang beses na din naman akong  pumasok ng Pinas  at wala namang problema.

Sis the country is Bahrain. I already asked the embassy dito and yun nga ang advise sa akin they cannot process dual citizenship since Bahrain government is not allowing and I have to surrender my Phil passport. So you mean sis pwede pala? Why the embassy did not inform me the possibilities? Naguguluhan tuloy ako. Kasi according to them its not possible.
