Baby's sleeping pattern
« on: August 17, 2014, 12:24:14 pm »
How old is your baby and what age did he/she started sleeping through the night? Did you establish a certain routine or kusa nalang natulog siya mag isa sa gabi? The past weeks since i had him, ive been obsessed with reading 'how to make your baby sleep through the night' books. Currently i'm practicing Becoming Babywise on my child.

My baby is almost a month old and im exclusively breastfeeding. Nakakapagod siya ha. Pero i know i'm already lucky kasi my son wakes up 2x at night lang and goes straight to sleep. Usually 3am and 6am gumising siya to feed (or i wake him up to feed). 9am is his scheduled wake up time in the morning. He's just extra fuzzy pag 6pm to 9pm or 9pm to 12am.

my baby is now 9.5 months but still wakes me up twice at night to breastfeed. at his age, dapat daw the baby can sleep through the night na. but i guess it depends pa rin sa baby. if he's hungry, then i breastfeed.

Sis when he wakes up middle of the night naman it's just usually to eat/drink milk and he goes right back to sleep? Hindi na yung fuzzy pa and you have to cradle him back to sleep?

Mag 3 mos pa lang ang baby ko. Twice siya gumigising para magmilk, between 1-2 am and between 3-4am ulit.

My baby is 4.5 mos. after his 2nd mo siya nag start to sleep at night with feedings in between. As for sleeping through the night na wala ng feedings, my experience sa 1st baby ko, it happened after his 15th mo. Na. I started to notice Kasi he won't wake up na to ask for milk. Minsan nga I give him pa kahit tulog and he will still drink it. I tried to stop and when he doesn't ask na, I stopped totally. Before that he cries talaga until I give him his milk. I remember our pedia said, once your baby starts solid food including dinner, then the baby can be trained to sleep thru the night. However, if the baby wasn't full enough upon going to bed, of course may tendency to feel hungry and ask for milk.

Naku almost a month old palang baby mo, matagal pa yan before mag sleep through the night. And to be honest, you shouldn't be thinking about that so early on ;) especially breastfed babies. Laging gutom yan kasi breastmilk is easily digested. Normally every 2-3 hours gigising ang newborn (up to 3 months daw considered newborn)

My baby is one year old and she's been sleeping through the night since she was 7 months old. When she's younger, from every 2-3 hours ang gising then naging 3-4 hours.

Also, may witching hour ang babies http://www.babysleepsite.com/newborns/newborn-babies-fussiness-evening-why/ and usually, they also cluster feed

My 2 girls (6 yo and 8 months old) since birth they both sleep at night. Normal na kaagad ang sleeping pattern talaga nila so di kami masyadong nahirapan.

of course first few months, every two hours ang feeding but now for my 8 months old, 1-2x na lang ako nag wake up to feed her - and sleeping yan while drinking milk. so the whole night from 9pm - 7am sleep yan sya. same sila ng ate nya before. so cute :)

my baby is currently on his 8th month. he started sleeping longer at night when he turned 3months. first he would sleep 2-3hours straight before waking up to feed. now, he can sleep 4hours straight at night. he would wake up 2-3x every night to feed. pero sandali lang. like after 5mins tulog na ulit. no need to rock him back to sleep. basta pa latch ko lang then kusa na ulit makakasleep.

My baby is almost 3mos. When she turned 2mos, nag-establish ako ng regular nighttime routine for her. Around 9pm, pini-prep na sya for bed (punas, bihis pantulog clothes and diaper, swaddle/wearable blanket, breastfeed with kwento, burp, read book of may time pa). Then by 10pm, lapag na sa crib. Then pray.
- 1st week - we played "white noise" on my phone to lull her to sleep (she loves the sound of running water). Minsan me paci, minsan wala. She'd sleep for 4-5hrs, then wake up to feed, then sleep again, then every 2hrs gising sya ulit to feed.
She'd sleep on her own pa din: 4-5hrs, then every two hours. Yung paci, nabawasan ang paggamit nya, tipong 2 nights lang for that week.
- currently on our 3rd week, the past 4 nights, she started sleeping longer, 8-9hrs during the night.

Katabi ng bed yung crib so kita ko naman sya while she's there, kahit "tulog" kunyari ako.. Hopefully magtuloy-tuloy ang ganitong routine nya. Laking ginhawa din for me. :)

Key for her is pag nakalapag na sya sa crib, dapat wala na kami TV/computer na naka-on, ang ilaw is yung night lamp na lang sa may side sya and dapat "tulog" na din ako (or kami, if nasa room si hubby). Pag narinig nya kami mag-usap ni hubby kahit bulungan, or if I-on ko tv na naka-mute kahit nakapikit na sya, ayun naaalimpungatan.. sa silaw siguro. so if me gusto pa ako panoorin, I go out sa sala to watch tv, si hubby nasa room kasama ni baby. Or minsan, we watch tv series sa ipad with headphones.

Sis pati nap ni baby mo you just put her down sa crib? Thats what im trying to do, put my son on his crib while still awake and minsan kasi he fusses and wouldnt go down for a nap. Ayaw ko lang i rock or dance around and or masanay na sa chest ko matulog (like now). But id rather have him sleep kasi etong witching hour nagiging witch narin ako dahil nag iiyak yung anak ko. Hay minsan naisip ko he's too young to be taught to sleep on his own (4 weeks old).

Target ko is for him to sleep 8-9 hours at night and for him to sleep on his own (no rocking.. as in ibaba lang sa crib ng gising and he'll sleep na).

^ re naps, naku nira-rock pa din madalas.. Di pa sya nagna-nap on her own, me time lang na nilapag sya sa swing or sa pack n play then maya-maya e nakatulog. Pero sobrang dalang mangyari nun.. madalas nga nilalabanan nya antok nya e.. Ayaw matulog.

Minsan naman, nakakatulog while nursing. Then ilalapag ko, ayun didilat at iiyak.. So madalas pag afternoon nap e karga sya.

vain_kixie, 4 weeks is most definitely too early to start sleep training. Ang dami ko rin binasa about that kasi dyan din ako nagstruggle. I sleep trained my daughter when she was about 6.5 months old... and then when she can put herself to sleep na during naps and even at night, I weaned her off her night feeding so she wouldn't wake up na in the middle of the night. By 7 months, she naps and sleeps in her crib in her own room na. No more night feedings as well. But before that, bigay hilig kami. They're only babies once, so if she wanted hele, ihehele namin sya. In my opinion, you cannot spoil a newborn baby.

from Baby Center's Sleep Training Article (cant post the link since nagtetext speak)

When can I start and what are the stages of sleep training?

The first three months
Don't try to impose a sleep schedule or training program on a newborn. Your new baby will need to feed every few hours, around the clock, so it's normal and healthy for him to sleep for just a few hours at a time. Respond promptly to his cries, feed and comfort him, and try to sleep when he does to minimize your own sleep deprivation.

I asked our pedia and a pedia-friend and they both said as early as five weeks pwede na mag-establish ng routine for play&sleep. Basta they said na for sleep-training wag lang muna yung "cry it out" method kasi too young pa nga sila for that. And introduce the routine gradually.

Depends din kasi sa baby. For one of my nephews, he only started sleeping through the night almost one year old na. Whereas yung siblings nya, my other pamangkins, started sleeping through the night between 2-4months..

I have a friend naman, she starts sleep training pag one month na babies nya. It worked on her first daughter (almost 3y/o na ngayon), pero sa second e she's still working on it at 7 weeks.

my son started sleeping through the night when he turned 1. as in no milk, no crying. just plain sleep. he will sleep at 9pm and will wake up at 6am.

0-3 months, he wakes up every couple of hours to feed.

3-6 months, wakes around 2-3 times

6-9 months, wakes up twice for milk.

9-11 months, will wake up once for milk.

clarify ko lang what I mean by sleep training... sleep training as in she's able to sleep on her own without rocking or feeding her to sleep.

Kami, nagestablish kami ng routine as early as 2 weeks... ligo, whole body massage, swaddle and rocked to sleep by Daddy with nursery rhymes playing in the background and may humidifier kami in her room na may drops of lavender essential oil na naka turn on basta gabi na. Also, when it's night time and nagising sya, we do not play with her, or talk to her. Basta no stimulation. Nagagalit ako pag kinakausap sya ng Mom ko pag nagpapalit kami ng nappy in the middle of the night. And we only use night light pag nagising kami. We don't turn on the fluorescent light or the down lights. She was never a difficult baby. Lagi syang tulog pag gabi and hindi sya awake ng matagal. 2x lang sya awake for more than 2 hours (ng madaling araw) in her whole first yr. We have been sooo lucky with her! I think the fact na nadifferentiate namin ang diff ng morning and night, helped heaps! Also, up until 7 months old sya, we co-slept.

Then when I started sleep training her (6.5 mos old sya), shempre nandun pa rin yun routine na naestablish na namin when she was still a newborn. Nagbasa basa lang ako ng techniques and tried which one works for us the best. I found the complete extinction method worked the best kasi yun ibang technique like icheck every 5 minutes, then 7, 12 mins and so on?? Di nagwork samin kasi lalo syang umiiyak when she sees us. And yun pick up every 5 minutes? Naku lalo syang nagigising pag pinick up kahit inaantok na. We still coslept with her until nagwean sya from night feedings at 7 months.

So yun, 7 months old palang she's been sleeping through the night na. And no worries about her nutrition kasi nagadjust ng kusa yun feeding nya ng umaga since she's no longer waking up at night to have her bottle. So from 5 bottles during the day and 1 at night, naging 6 bottles na during the day. So she was still getting enough nutrition.

Bagaholic, pwede pala yun ganun na masanay sa rocking and dancing during naps pero pag night time sleep can sleep on their own. Ang important lang sakin is for my child to sleep through the night like yours when he is older.

Sis oreo thats what im doing, establishing a routine para when he is older and i can sleep train him na it would be easier for him to adjust. Regarding crying it out, how many days did your daughter cry it out till she started sleeping on her own without whimpering?

^ sis, I think nag-matter kay baby ang bedtime routine namin. Hehe..

Sana by 3 months sleeping through the night narin baby ko. Since week two naka routine na kami. Though wala pang mga reading of books etc kasi konti lang wake time ng newborn.  Mga what time siya nagigising in the morning to feed if you start the routine at 9pm?

Balak ko kasi pag sleeping through the night na siya lilipat ko na sa nursery niya. Right now he's in our room, sleeping on his pack n play. Pansin ko he sleeps better on his own, wala kasing magulong katabi and natatakot ako baka madaganan namin.

^ pinakamahaba niya sleep na walang feeding in between was 8-9 hrs. Lately, 6-7 hrs.. usually nakakatulog sya around 9:30-10.

Me day na parang pagod siguro sya, iyak ng iyak kasi inaantok kahit 8pm pa lang and nag-nap naman ng hapon.  So 8:30pm nagstart na kami bedtime routine.. then tulog na sya around 9pm.

Madalang na kami maka-read ng book now. Kinukwentuhan ko na lang (in a soft voice) ng whatever while breastfeeding. Then pagkalapag sa crib, pray kami then kausapin ko ulit ng sandali after pray. Then iwan na sya on her own, tinitingnan ko lang from the bed hanggang sa makatulog sya.
