Go epidural!!! I gave birth a month ago and good Lord salamat sa epidural. From 2cm onwards yan ang sinisigaw ko while laboring and waiting for 5cm.. e-p-i-d-u-r-a-l.  Nung 3cm ako they sedated me na kasi nagwawala na ako. hehe seriously though i would have cursed a lot without anesthesia kaya im thankful meron na ganyan sa panahon ngayon.

Hi sis,

Nung umattend ako ng pregnancy seminar sa St Lukes, hindi ko makakalimutan yung sinabi nung OB na speaker, hindi naman daw competition ang child birth na kapag hindi ka nagepidural or any other available form of anesthesia na pwede, eh mas angat ka na from other moms.

And based naman sa past experience mo na all natural, hindi sya naging pleasant for you. Discuss with your OB kung ano yung best option mo for pain relief, may iba pa naman aside from epidural.

Agree with vain_kixie, I would say go for the epidural! Hahaha I went into labor naturally but was progressing really slow so they augmented my labor (ie. same medication as inductions). My contractions came fast and strong and unfortunately the anesthesiologist went home and had to be called back in. I was begging for the epidural na and my OB asked the resident anesthesiologist to give me something in the meantime. They injected something that made me groggy but didn't lessen the pain at all! I hated that (whatever it was they injected - thru my arm and IV) and it burned so bad going in :(

I'm normally terrified of needles but seriously when they came to give me the epidural (I saw the huge needle) I was so happy. Add to that pa I had contractions while they were administering the epidural so I didn't feel a thing!

I did get the chills, but they just put two comforters on top of me and I was fine. I think I fell asleep pa for awhile....4 hours later I was fully dilated na :)

I was at the very early stage of contractions when my doctor suggested epidural. That's right, it's not that those who gave natural birth should looked down on those who chose to go the easier way. Yung pagpapalaki ng anak ng sukatan ng pagiging mabuting magulang.  But I can't imagine noong araw ng walang choice kundi i-endure ang sakit ng panganganak.

I gave birth last month and I had my epidural at 7 CM. Hindi na Kinaya ng powers ko. At 5 CM when I got admitted, nag chichikahan pa kami ng junior intern ng TMC, siya ng rerecord ng contractions ko. At 7 CM, I begged him na to call the Anes cause hindi ko na kaya!!! Ayoko na makipag kwentuhan sa kanya cause I can't speak nor understand what he's saying. Haha!

After the shot, calm na ko ulit, sabi ni intern, nakaka smile na daw ulit ako. And nakaka tulog din ako. Hubby was with me too kaya all out support ako.

Sis, I'm curently 39 weeks and due next week.

This time, kung kakayanin ko without epid, mas gusto ko pa rin kasi less drugs ang matatanggap ng katawan ko e hindi naman na ako bata. Plus magpapa-breastfeed kasi ako like sa firstborn ko so gusto ko hindi sleepy o groggy ang baby paglabas para makapag-latch agad. Takot din ako sa after-effect na chills pero in-assure ako ni OB na naeexperience lang yun dahil sa lamig ng room temp so what they do daw hinihinaan ang a/c.

So yun.

I chose not to have an epidural before dahil sa side effects nya at hindi para maging number 1 mother. It's the side effects that I'm avoiding. I've heard of being forgetful and sumasakit ang mga kasukasuan kapag malamig after having epidural.

I was able to give birth to my son before without epidural. Now with my second, I'm planning to take childbirth classes to help minimize the pain.

I'm no hero but I prefer to go natural if I can tolerate the pain.

Takot nga akong operahan since bata pako. Takot rin ako sa dugo.

If I had a choice of Epidural vs NCB -- knowing my low pain threshold, go Epidural. IMO, I would harm myself and the baby more if I get too stressed out with the pain.
I am CS all times, btw.

But I know someone, gusto ko sagasaan:  "I give birth easily, just like pooping."
Sh1t!  Some sure are luckier. Hahaha.

When I gave birth to my 1st baby 18 years ago, di pa uso ang epidural. Since induced labor ako, grabe ang pain! As in nakakakita ako ng stars if I close my eyes.

Ngayon sa 2nd baby ko, I'm no longer as young. Baka di ko kakayanin yung pain pag induced ulit.

I've experienced both.  Sa first baby, epidural with episiotomy. siguro hindi ako marunong umiri being a first time mom.   Five years later, sa secord baby, natural na natural,  walang cut at walang tearing or anything sa loob, kaya hindi na kailangan ng doctor in attendance.  Inusyoso pa nga, dahil sabi nung delivery nurse 'hey guys look at this,  no bleeding no tearing', tinginan naman yung ibang nurses.  Yung 2nd baby ko, hamak laki doon sa una,  8 lbs 12 ounces as opposed to 7 pounds.
The only thing is, after my natural delivery,  i had lower back pain for like 2 months post.  Sobrang sakit, as in naiiyak ako, considering mataas ang tolerance ko sa pain.  Yung pain,  parang contraction pain coming from the lower butt area. Yung sa epidural,  after gumaling yung episiotomy like a week later,  wala na.
May naka experiance ba ng ganino,  the natural delivery was a breeze pero may severe post birth contaction pain?

^ natural birth din ako sa first born ko, that was 4 years ago..
Mabilis din yung recovery ko, like after a day ako na naglilinis ng room namin and EBF pa ko nun.

Now at 36 weeks and id still go for natural birth, OB is keep on asking nga if i am sure na talaga.
Sure na ko and sana kayanin ulit and hoping for faster recovery ulit like before, pero sabi nga nila... every pregnancy is different so sana kayanin ulit  :)

I was aiming for natural birth pero ang ending nanghingi ako ng EPI.

Since I'm keen nga on giving birth naturally wala akong anaesthesiologist na naka-standy. Nanggaling pa siya sa bahay. :) . Hahaha.

And nagwe-wear off pala EPI, kasi noong almost fully dilated and effaced na ako, may na-feel akong pain na hindi ko kayang idescribe in words.
