I think "not peeling" doesn't mean tretinoin is weak. It just means your skin can just tolerate it well. Esp if you don't have acne and are just using it to prevent premature aging, 0.025% is enough (for me). It's still xtimes stronger than retinol.

^ Agree. In fact, you should NOT peel. If you're peeling, it means either it's too strong for you ("downgrade" to a lower strength product), you're usung it too often (make it every other night, or every 2 nights), or you just have not found the product for you (like, you may be reacting to its base ingredient).

Thank you sis rae and roxyhart. Does it mean that i'll just have to continue using stieva .025% and need not upgrade to retin A .05%? By the way sorry OT na naman, I want to incorporate estee lauder ANR synchronized recovery complex II in my regimen in the morning and on nights when i don't use tret. I usually stop using tret pag alam kung may event na maiinitan ako like 4 or 5 days before nang event nag i stop ako mag tret. Is it safe to use estee lauder during those times or is it also like tret that you should stop using pag maiinitan. I also stop using tret 4 days prior and after my facial. Do you think it is safe to use ANR during those times?

Thanks sa mga input sisses. I actually think it's starting to peel now which, now that it's happening, is really scary. Reddish sya sa areas under the eyes (It feels a little raw to the touch here too), side of nose and corners of mouth.  Not too bad naman, tolerable and not very noticeable (not yet, shucks!) . But is that normal? I'll super hydrate na from now on! Nag over wipe kasi yata ako ng face flannel (aka bimpo lol) tapos morning after nag salicylic toner pa ko (annoying blackheads still won't go)

Question: is it just me who sting with cataphil? Weird pero I don't experience that when I put on tret o  yung second cleanser (body shop nutriganics), only when I massage on cataphil, e gentle finger massage Lang naman ginagawa Ko.

Kasi I've been Reading up on Caroline Hirons beauty blog since I started with tret and she use layers and layers of products together with tret. I'm sure there is a system there pero Di ko pa na-decode. Haha ang complicated kasi with all the -oxies and -cymides etc. Routine Nya is
2x cleanse
Acid toner
Hydrating toner
Mist
Serum
Moist

Sabi Nya when in doubt, tret At night and the other product in the morning.
But that's just what one blogger says-- iba iba kasi sinasabi Sa ibang sites Kaya nakakalito. I hope you can help sort this out for us..

luna laxa: Dont put tret under your eyes =) And yes, once your skin is irritated it will really sting when you wash your face especially with cetaphil hehe Physiogel is a bit better but it still stings! My face is irritated again now so I stopped using tret for 2 days.

Whaaaa this is what I hate about tret. It hurts, and I looks so ugly every now and then. Actually if you are sensitive to tret... retinol is a good substitute. It does the same thing, except it is milder since your skin will have to convert the retinol into retinoic acid (same as tret), and so it is gentler. Its been proven to give the same benefits over time.

Only reason why I dont use retinol is that the local products here are loaded with fragrance which Im sensitive to and I get allergies. But when I get a chance to get retinol products in the states. ROC is good and Neutrogena rapid wrinkle repair. Philosophy's Help Me has also a good amount of retinol and I get that when its available at Beauty Bar.

@luna_laxa yes, it's 'normal'. Did you put tret on the sides of the nose and the corners of the mouth? Don't apply tretinoin in those areas. Also, if you still have the product insert, it lists there everything that you should expect (e.g., irritation, peeling, redness, etc), pati directions for use andun din

@pret_ty68 I used to use 0.1% tapos I went down to 0.05%, and now I'm using 0.025%, I don't plan on moving to a higher concentration anymore. What I like about 0.025% is I don't get THAT irritated if I accidentally put too much.

@chili1113 I agree on retinol, another reason why I don't buy retinol products is because ang mahal nila. Compared to tret and mahal ng retinol. Recently I found a cheap one from Derm A. But walang info on ilang percent yung retinol nya.

pret_ty68 , Estee Lauder ANR is not at all like tretinoin. Ok lang kahit mainitan. But then again, we've all learned that sunblock is very important, right? Don't worry about it being an irritant; it's not. I go out a lot in the sun to swim, run, whatever; I also use it every night, I pair it with acid toner plus tretinoin or glycolic acid-activated night cream and I'm fine. If any, my skin has never been this good.

Tretinoin, however, is not my "powerhouse" skincare product, kumbaga. I know it's the number 1 anti-ageing ingredient, it's just that I don't rely on it to do all the heavy work of skin regenerating, brightening, anti-ageing, etc. My acid toner (especially my acid toner!), serum, night cream are my powerhouse products, so I can go easy on the tretinoin na.

Saka I really invest na high quality skincare products (they do not come cheap), which she strongly advocates for diba. Medyo tumagos sa akin when she said, if you spend more on your handbags, shoes, and clothes than on your face, you'll be an old lady with a vintage closet and an alligator skin in no time hehe.

what other acid toner is out in the market? i find p50 too expensive kasi although if i have enough moolah, i would totally go for it..

I have been off from tret for a long time, this is the reason why I came back to GT. I have to get back on tret kahit na marami na ako gamit na skincare products now than before. Somehow I feel na there's something missing and I guess tret nga yun. I have used Retin-A before, yung cream type, and I don't know if I will be buying that again or yung Steiva na. I guess I have to ease into it again 

I also use EL ANR and I don't want to keep that out of my regimen. Out of stock ba ang Steiva?

I stopped using cetaphil, I can't take the sting anymore. And considering Wala naman sya nagagawa for my skin except cleaning it, I deem it not worth it lol. I use coconut out instead which work better on cleaning and leaves my skin moist.

So given the choice, you guys will go with retinoin? Tret is so drying kasi and scary so if the milder one is better, I'll try source that. I've read good review on Paula's choice, anyone tried it? Hey OT, what happened to PC Ph? I can't find their site kahit their fb page.

I'm curious with the ones you don't follow. Wala pa kong skin care logic so what she says I just follow haha. Although the products she advocates are really hard to come by. (Maybe we should make a thread para we can give each other tips on the products and (esp!) where to buy them.)

I just ordered night resurfacing from Zalora. I hope okay naman sya kasi its  4% Lang pala? I'll use this muna until I get my hands on p50. What do you think, should I alternate this with tret even if it's just a mild formula?

^You can never completely remove freckles except by laser. But tretionoin helps to lighten them. But not by much and takes very long. For freckles, tretinoin with Obagi [textspeak!] Derm system seems to work best for me. because of the hydoquinone. It is not good for long term use though.

I went to a Mercury branch in Marikina, yung tipong malayo sa main road, meron sila both Retin-A and Steiva sis! Have used Retin-A na before but I stopped kasi for a long time, so naisip ko mag-Steiva nalang kaya muna ako na 0.025%?
