getting old

Hi just want to ask sino dito ang mga takot sa pagtanda? Why?

Especially us girls, takot tayo dyan lahat ng "what ifs" papasok sa  isip natin. Nabobother ka sa looks mo,sa figure, sino mag aalaga sayo, no income, etc.

The trick is to not think of it as "getting old" but getting wiser or more fabulous.

Kasi when we think of getting old, all we think about are wrinkles, pagiging ugod-ugod... but actually, we have to embrace age. I'm just in my 20's, but I'm not scared of reaching my 30's, 40's, 50's, etc.

I think of Sofia Vergara, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Meryl Streep. Still rocking it in their 40's and up. And when I'm in my 80's (if I reach that age), I think of Betty White. Such a lively and funny woman at 92 years old.

As for men... Robert Downey Jr. *swoon* Such a hot man at 49 years. He has this charm that guys in their 20's don't quite have yet.

I am seeing a lot of acquaintances and relatives too na nasa 50"s pa lang pero nag start a mag kaproblem especially in the aspect of health and finances.

Yes , lahat tayo darating diyan ( unless namatay ng maaga), it's life's reality. Madaling sabihin na paghandaan natin habang maaga . But , the reality is we are so busy when we are young and time passes so fast. So, siguro we should look 10 years forward to be ready when we grow old.

unlike you, young sissies,  i don't have to look forward to getting old, because I am old  :D .

and you know what,  i'm still feeling the same as my old self in my 20s (maybe this is a stretch, but oh why not), 30s, 40s.  wala pa naman health issues,  other than the grey hair (my choice not to dye),  heck i'm still alive and can still kick butt!  ha ha ha.

life is how you look at it and how you live it.   you can make it as grim and foreboding as you want or you can just relax and take it easy.   with age comes the responsibility of making sure your future is secured thru savings and investments, that is a given.

anyway,  there's nothing to it (getting old),  we all will get there (hopefully),  if you are prepared financially and took care of yourself by not abusing your temple/body,  you're all set to just enjoy it.

btw, i'm not retired yet,  still working full-time in IT, still looking forward to working at least 20 more years.  i love my job kase.

My friend was telling me the other day about her 35-year-old relative na high risk na yung pregnancy because of age and other factors. I was shocked. Seriously, 35 years old and high risk na? I'm turning 30 next year, no boyfriend, not dating, what?!

^medyo OT!

pwedeng totoo yun sis. NABASA KO LANG TO SIS DI AKO SURE KUNG TOTOO TO! based sa evolution psychology kasi women are most attractive to boys when they are 25-30 (pero sa aspect naman yun ng pagfa-family, pagkakaron anak). basta iba timeline ng babae sa lalake e.

kaya nga even teen agers daw na 14-18, nagkakacrush sa older women. kasi instinct ng lalake hanapin yung babae na ok maging pregnant i.e. 25-30 DAW, wide hips, healthy (signs ng heath yung:red lips, beautiful hair, clear skin, etc.).

ewan ko kung totoo yan sis frozen toes :( your opinion?

back to the topic:

oo takot ako tumanda. dami ko insecurities. ayoko rin mag bf ng ka age ko kasi baka dumating time i'll look older than him hehe

It's inevitable unless you die young. But I don't want to worry about it now. I'd rather live in the moment and invest in my health and skin care in order to age gracefully.  May mga nasa 40s nga na bata pa tingnan look at Alice Dixon, Agot Isidro, Lucy Torres, Dawn Zulueta etc. and may mga nasa 20's naman na losyang na.

My friend was telling me the other day about her 35-year-old relative na high risk na yung pregnancy because of age and other factors. I was shocked. Seriously, 35 years old and high risk na? I'm turning 30 next year, no boyfriend, not dating, what?!

Do not woory about that too much. Minsan ang pagiging high risk does not depend much on age but the state of health. I know of women who delivered a child normally even if they are already and their 30s and may mga 20s naman na high risk ang pregnancy. So just live a healthy lifestyle to minimize the risk.

If you let your Fears rule you, your body will produce a lotta cortisol -- you will soon have a big puson.

Do everything in moderation.
Get an annual blood test.
Mind your aches and pains, if any -- go see a doctor ASAP.

Some women possess the right DNA to look young longer than most.
Some have brains capable of more.
Some have this or that exceptional talent.
Whatever you have --  develop it as much as you can.  Kanya kanyang role tayo in life.
Being less fearful or obsessed with youth maintenance/preservation is what will make you secure and young in old age.

They classify it as high-risk. It's just something they do, just as a precaution, I guess.

I'm not terrified of getting old. I work with old people and they are a misunderstood group. But I am terrified of getting old and not getting anywhere. That's my biggest fear--an unfulfilled, unsatisfying life. And having a lot of regrets. And being poor.

I have a crush on a certified oldie. :D Sometimes, I think about him and I feel sad. Because he's alone and I wonder if he was ever happy or was he ever in love. Is there anything he wants so bad, still in his life and if there is, is he going to do anything about it or is he going to just let it go because he feels that it is too late for him? Stuff like that. I don't like the resignation that comes with old age.

re: pregnancy risk on older women.  ang understanding ko dyan eh  it has something to do with the "biological clock". yep, the ever terrifying word.  yun pregnancy itself may take long dahil mas kaunti or weak na yun egg cells. napansin ko din yan sa work when older women decided to get pregnant, dnayan yun matagal, nalalaglagan or wala talaga. mas bata, mas mabilis mabuntis...daw ha. may chance din magkaron ng diabetes in the process of pregnancy. nakita ko to sa mga friends ko na babae when they had their second baby after 35. high blood or enclamsia would likely to develop, premature babies or not so healthy babies. so there...

on getting old, i see a lot of this in older friends, mostly girls who are past their heyday. ang fear nila is mostly companionship, getting old alone without anyone to share their sentiments with. sleeping alone at night, lalona yun mga nasa abroad. dito kasi ok lang mag isa kasi mkadami naman kamag anak, lalo na yun nag aantay ng pamana pag nawala ka...sus dami nyan dito. hahaha!

^ i hope so too. i really feel for him too because old people are not that different from us. we always think, they're ok, they've had their time in the sun, they've lived but a lot of them are still very young in their heads. contrary to popular opinion, they still have sex and they still have dreams and goals but a lot of them have become limited either by an illness or a financial blow. so it's sad because they are a largely overlooked part of society.

saka pogi talaga si crush. to me, he's very sexy. ;D

Hindi ako takot tumanda. Actually gusto ko maranasan tumanda. Kayo ba ayaw nyo?  ;D

^ that's what i used to say when i was younger,  much younger.
now i am old.  my only regret is i know won't be around by the time humans start terra-forming and living in outer space.    with the leaps and bounds in technology happening right now,  who's to say we're not getting close to building a spaceship capable of flying into hyperspace.
(teka, am I on the right thread, ba't naging space exploration yata,  ;) )
bottom line, it's good times being young right now.  you still have a lifetime ahead of you to fulfill your dreams and plans for the future.

i think our generation is lucky coz now more than ever aging is not an issue anymore. just look at hollywood and our local showbiz women in their 40's and 50's are still hot. ewan ko ba sa ating mga babae bakit yung iba they have a fear of getting old. as i always say "wisdom comes with age".

im in my mid 30's and already im doing my bucket lists, things i want to accomplish before i turn 40. i'm not scared of turning 40, i know when i reach that age i am a more fulfilled woman and looking forward to more adventures and excitement life has to offer.

i have friends who are my age and those na nasa 40's and 50's and personally i like to hangout with my mature friends more. they have a different aura about them mas calm and happy. and parang walang masyadong issue sa buhay.

i guess the ones who are afraid of growing older are those who have nothing going for them, only thinking about the negatives, don't know what to do with their lives, makitid mag isip etc. may mga kilala akong ganito and i try to stay away from them kasi baka mahawa ako sa kanila.
