JAUNDICE: How long does your little ones had this?

Until what month does your baby look yellowish? Mine is 2 months but i think it's normal.

i remembered my daugther had jaundice while i'm breastfeeding her, eventually after she refusemy milk and we switched to formula, ok na sya, di na sya yellowish, i guess nasa milk ko yung dahilan kung bakit sya yellowish before..

as long as walang negative result from the newborn screening, yellowish skin tone of baby is normal. Maraming factors yan, milk, vitamin deficiency. Better talk to the pedia for concerns like this one.

all of my sons had jaundice few days after birth due to ABO incompatibility. depende sa pedia ang approach sa kanila.
sa eldest ko, sunbathe lang. (pero rainy season na yon)
sa 2nd child ko cont breastfeeding to help lower the level of bilirubin plus bililights sa NICU.
sa 3rd son ko naman, yung pedia nananakot na mag recur kahit na daw bumaba, nakaka MR daw ang jaundice etc.... pero yung neonatologist highly recommended ang breastfeeding, bililights....
sa 4th son ko, hindi lumabas kaagad yellowish nya so na discharge na kami. our current pedia just advised us to sunbathe twice a day. then we observe the daily urine and poops ni baby. after 3 weeks improve na ang colour niya.

as observation ko, ang pinakamatagal nawala yung yellowish yung sa eldest ko more than a month. pero hindi naman alarming.
sa 2nd and 3rd ko, nasa 1month. pero mapapansin yung gradual improvement ng skin color nya.

my 4th son is currently 4weeks old today. he's not as yellowish as before na, but since he has darker and mapulahin na skin unlike his dihia and sahia, mas napapansin.

ang sabi daw kung saan una lumabas ang paninilaw, dun din daw huli mawawala... usually sa face and eyes..

Yung baby ko 3 months na ngayon and hindi ndin sya yellow konting konti na lang din yung nasa eyes nya. He's continuing to take phenobarbital then by the first week of july we'll have his bilirubin test to know if it's normal. Normal naman yung newborn screening niya.

sis are you breastfeeding?  na try mo na to stop for a week then resume nlng if mawala ang yellowish color ni baby.  pedia 1  advised this while pedia 2  said continue lang breastfeeding.  nag stop ako (pero continue mo lang pumping para di mawala milk) after a week nag clear ang color ni baby...  bili of our son is normal naman

both of my daughters had jaundice during their first few days.

1st daughter: sunbathe lang. after 5 days normal na.
2nd daughter: before we checked out from the hospital she was cleared.

Normal naman sis ang medyo yellowish sa umpisa. With my daughter it was breastmilk jaundice and it lasted as long as I was giving her breastmilk (4.5 months), kahit nung mixed feeding na kami. Her pedia had tests done to diagnose that and minomonitor namin lab results. Pero she didn't advise me to stop breastfeeding.

With my son naman, nawala na yung yellowish color after 2-3weeks kahit exclusively breastfed siya. So I guess depende talaga. You should consult your pedia nga para sure.

My son had jaundice when he was born. They put my son in a machine called photo therapy for 24 hours. After that jaundice gone!

Many pedoa doctors under estimate jaundice. I think people should be careful with this. lalo na rainy season ngayon. My 10day old son was diagnosed with this. buti na [textspeak!] our pedia friend asked us to have him checked and the results were quite high. We rushed him to the hospital and had phototherapy. WalNg araw kasi. 3days kami here with the round o clock phototherapy. Hope this will suffice para hinde na bumalik yung jaundice.

You may research kn the side effects if jaundice is not treated. Nakakatakot. So I suggest not to take jaundice lightly.

Tama po, there are many kinds of jaundice. There is Physiologic jaundice (usually 2nd day of life) and is a normal phenomenon and responds to sunlight exposure. May mga jaundice po na related to milk: breastfeeding jaundice happens around 5th day of life and is secondary to decreased intake. Breastmilk jaundice occurs later and is secondary to an enzyme sa breastmilk which causes the bilirubin (yung nagcacause ng paninilaw) to be recirculated sa system. Itong breastmilk jaundice ang inaadvice to stop breastfeeding temporarily (kung sobrang dilaw po at mataas ang bili levels ng bata) while ang breastfeeding jaundice naman ang ine-encourage to increase frequency and amount of breastmilk given to babies. Pathologic jaundice happens usually within 24hours after birth. Pwedeng secondary to ABO incompatibility, infection, etc. Normally po, we will request na for bilirubin levels if the baby's jaundice goes beyond two weeks. Pwede ring makatulong ang pag-observe ng poop at weewee. Some kids with biliary atresia having poop na kulay chalk. Those with neonatal hepatitis may have dark urine naman. Case to case basis pa run.

Hi mga sis! I have 6 day old LO. Kanina lang  parang nanilaw si baby nung nagising sya at umiyak ng umiyak after makatulog ng 4 hours. Nagworry ako bigla kasi nanilaw yung kilay at ilong nya habang umiiyak. Tapos pinabreastfeed ko. Biglang nawala. Normal po ba to? Sa saturday pa kasi kami papacheckup ni baby

My OB confirmed that my LO has a physiological jaundice. She advised me na paarawan si LO kaso tag-ulan na ngayon. Any other alternative para maging normal color ni baby?

Physiologic jaundice will go on its own. The reason lang why we advice sunlight exposure is to hasten the elimination of bilirubin. You will notice that even if you don't expose baby, it will disappear soon.

My son is 3 weeks old and still has Jaundice. Nag papa araw kami if there's sunlight, so far nabawasan na. Sabi ni pedia, if breastfeeding, talagang matagal mawala ang jaundice. Sometimes daw up to 3 months. And she assured me not to worry too much. As long as baby is gaining weight and very healthy, then it's all good. Hth!

My daughter was not yellowish anymore by the time we saw her pedia a week after she was born. She was given vitamin K at the hospital.. I breastfed her, and was instructed before we were discharged from the hospital to sit near the window when I fed her in the morning.
