Hi mommies,
First baby ko, it's a boy and he's due on the 2nd of December.

Super excited kami ni Hubby kasi just in time for his birthday ang pagdating ni Baby.
I've had an easy pregnancy so far, in my opinion. Di ako naka-experience ng morning sickness, minimal naman yung sensitivity ko to certain smells, no headaches whatsoever. Pero syempre, andyan pa rin yung namamagang ilong, yung sobrang pagkaantok, yung occasional backpain, yung slight manas and pagiging iyakin.
So far I've had two OBs. The first one (Dra. Marisa Reyes) came very well recommended by many moms here in GT. Kaya lang nalayuan kami sa clinic niya. We live near Sta. Lucia, and since madalas matraffic sa may Imelda/Felix Ave., nagdalawang-isip kami kasi baka when the time comes, mapaanak ako sa daan ng di oras (her clinic and affiliated hospitals are all in Antipolo).
So I switched to my mom's and my sister's OB. Siya ang nagpaanak sa sister ko sa two babies niya and everything seems to have gone well. However, parang iba yung naging experience ko sa kanya. You see, I'm fat, but despite that, I've been doing well healthwise (no hypertension, no diabetes, no heart issues, none). Para kasing lahat na inassociate niya with my size.
Sa lahat ng lab tests ko, good ang results. Nagkaroon lang ako ng UTI, for which she recommended a course of antibiotics.
Ang pinagtataka ko lang, every time we visit her, she gets a high reading sa aking BP. Kaya ko nasabing nakakapagtaka kasi I have an SIL who's a nurse and I also have my own auto BP machine sa bahay to monitor my blood pressure. Ever since sinabi niya na may gestational hypertension ako, we've been monitoring my BP every day (one reading sa automatic, 2 manual readings sa spygmo). She also gave me Aldomet (Methyldopa) which is an anti-hypertensive med.
Sa araw-araw naming pagkuha ng BP ko, 110/70 and 120/80 lang ang range ng BP ko. Pero sa tuwing nagpapacheck kami sa kanya, same ang nakukuha niya na results (130/90 or 140/90). So when I told her this, nagpakuha sya ng BP ko sa may ward nurse. Funny thing is, same ang nakuha ng nurses sa nakuha ng SIL ko sa bahay (110/70). Pinakuha niya pa ulit kasi hindi daw sya kumbinsido. Same lang din ang nakuha.
Yung worst na naexperience ko with her was my last check up. We asked her a lot of things after niya ako kunan ng BP (which, as expected, gave the same results as she got the last time -- 140/90) and she declared that I had pre-eclampsia. Sabi ko sa kanya, is it possible for me to have this condition and not feel anything/not have any symptoms? Sabi niya hindi daw, mararamdaman ko daw yun. The thing is,
wala nga! Sinabi niya na I will have headaches and mamamaga daw yung face ko, manlalabo ang mata and eventually kumbulsyon. But I have experienced none of these. Tapos sinabihan niya pa ako na yung isa daw niyang pasyente sinabihan niya na may hypertension (160/100) tapos di daw naniwala sa kanya, ayun kinumbulsyon.
She had recommended medicine for me and I was taking it religiously. Kahit yung prenatal vits ko (Obimin Plus) is supposed to be for women who had gestational hypertension. I've been sticking to a diet that's good for me and my baby. She said that I couldn't take long walks or exercise too much because I had low-lying placenta (Grade I lang naman and it will improve as my baby grows according to her), but I make sure that I am active and every week we take short walks sa UP para di masyadong maging mabigat ang katawan ko. So I asked her why, despite all of these, why do they not seem to help at all? Wala syang naisagot, kundi kasi nga daw mataba ako. Sabi niya rin na dagdagan yung dose ko ng Aldomet (from once to twice a day).
Sabi niya magpa-doppler velocimetry daw kami to see if the baby's umbilical cord was the right size kasi kung hindi daw, papaanakin niya na ako at 32 weeks kesa mamatay ang baby ko. Pigil na pigil lang ang luha ko nun kasi nakaka-frustrate and nakaka-worry. Paguwi namin ni Hubby, hagulgol ako sa bahay kasi feeling ko ansama kong ina and my baby could die because I'm fat. Hay...
Ayan naghinga lang ng sama ng loob. I hope you could help me with any of the following:
1. Magkano ba yung doppler velocimetry and will it hurt?
2. Should I change OBs? I've found a good OB in the same hospital, but I wonder if I'll be breaking any rules and if it's a logical move since I'm already 6 months on the way.
Thank you in advance and I would really appreciate your advice regarding this situation.
