Hi mga sis! Im at 33wks and 4 days. Nakakainip na yung ganitong stage. Parang ang bagal ng oras. Gusto ko na makita si baby. We're all excited. 1st apo kasi on both sides.

^ I'm not sure if my experienced with my first born will help your fears sisters,, kasi iba-iba tayo ng experience in giving birth pero share ko narin kung sakaling makatulong sa first time moms.

ang natutunan ko nuong unang panganganak ko is to make sure the mother should always feels 'calm' through out the labor. i'm not saying hindi eto magiging masakit ah.. pero yes masakit maglabor kaya ngayon palang iready na ang mind for that. I wont put sugarcoat to it, masakit siya pero hindi ibig sabihin nun ikakamatay mo yung sakit.  ::)

why do you need to keep your calmness and composure through out your labor? it's because if tense ang nanay,, tensyonado din ang baby.  :)  remember that they're also human being. let's not just focus on our own pain but their condition as well. kung magpapanic at iiyak ang mother,, mafefeel eto ng bata at somehow maapektuhan siya. kaya madalas na iistress ang condition ng sanggol. kapag mas kalmado ang nanay mas hindi mahihirapan si baby bumaba sa daanan niya. di ba sabi nga nila satin ngayon buntis tayo na if we are tense and stress,, chances our babies inside feels the same way.

share ko lang that i had my first labor for almost 22 hours. it was really exhausting kasi i started my contraction at 12 am in the morning and i gave birth 9:30 in the evening of the same day! Kapoy talaga.  ;D hindi kasi ako nag dilate agad. hindi rin nabasag ang water bag ko. wala akong mucus plug until almost 8 pm na nung lumabas ang dugo sa panty ko. so the whole time what i was doing is walk and walk and walk. meron akong yellow paper and pen kasi i was jotting down notes also yung interval ng contractions ko and how strong or how long it last till the next round. inoorasan ko siya using my timer. yun kasi nagpapakalma sakin eh, knowing na kapag mas "strong" and mas konti na ang interval ng contractions, i'm closer to the moment that i will get to see my son. where did i get these idea? i was reading a lot of books while i was pregnant kasi di pa uso Google nuon. :)

i also had my labor at home. nung chineck ako ng morning 7 am na @ 2 cm palang ako dilated. I've decied to go home and wait for my labor. may iba kasing babae na kapag hindi familiar ang environment sakanya let's say in the hospital minsan nahihirapan mag labor or bigla nalang nawawala yung pain (same case with Jolina Magdangal). may psychological effect din kasi yun nanay. kaya nga sa ibang bansa nauuso ang  'home birth' delivery kasi mas relaxed ang mommies sa sarili niyang tahanan. uso narin nga ang water birth di ba? hindi ko sinabing gawin niyo rin eto ah.. pero yun nga with my case, i chose to labor at home kasi hindi ako kumportable na madaming tao nakatingin sakin habang sinusubukan kong itawid yung pain ko.

during my labor may times na gusto kong sumigaw sa sobrang sakit but my brother (who is also a pediatrician by profession) always remind me not to do that since baby will get stressed as well. in return, umuungol nalang ako sa sakit.  ;D there was a time i told him na parang di ko na yata kakayanin at gusto ko na ng anesthesia or magpa CS na! lalo na nung closer na yung interval ng contractions.. my brother was just calmed, smiled and said  "No. you're not gonna have anesthesia. it will slow down your progress and vaginal birth is what you want". ako naman nuon Nga nga! hahaha. wala nako kasi ako sa katinuan ko during active labor but you know what? i was glad my brother was there to remind of the birthplan kasi kung wala siya malamang kung ano-ano na ang hiningi ko.

when 9 pm came and i had mucus plug, we went to the hospital na kasi our house was just near to it. they prepped me up and before they wheeled me to the delivery room,, my brother again whispered to my ears, and said "oh wag kang iiyak.. wag kang sisigaw.. kalmado kalang. kaya yan."..
kaya after 3 push ayun tapos ang laban!  :D

Sorry mga sis napahaba ang post ko. bottomline lang na kung gusto kong sabihin is kaya natin to! just keep your composure and your calmness-- all the time. magiging masakit OO pero hindi mo eto ikamamatay promise!  :D akala ko nga nuon hihimatayin ako eh sa sakit pero hindi naman, nagigising nga ko lalo.hahaha. saka talk to your baby during labor, hindi lang ikaw ang nagmomoment kundi pati narin siya. teamwork eto between mother and child din. also have a good support with you like hubby or any members of the family who will remind that this is a stage that you have to go through, at hindi sila pa yung unang magpapanic kesa sayo! Your OB will be there to guide you so trust her on this and most of all, trust your body.

Good Luck satin mga sis! God bless us with healthy pregnancy and safe labor.

- that was my original plan.. home birth.. water home birth kaso wala naman dito satin :( familiar sis yung post mo. feeling ko ikaw yung nabasa ko somewhere. naalala ko yung brother mo na anti- anesthesia! hahaha sa totoo lang, takot ako sa anesthesia. mas gugustuhin ko pa mafeel yung bonggang bongang pain kesa feeling numb. feeling ko deds ako e. lol naiimagine ko na sarili ko na high na high parang nakadrugs due to labor pains. its all in the mind!

Sis Jaguar.

^^ oo sis na ishare ko na rin yung story ko ditto sa ibang topic! labor story yata. its my fond memory of my kuya. he lives in the US now. ngayon nga that i'm 31 weeks pregnant i really do miss him!  :-* he was my strong hold during that moment. mahirap kasi kung yung kasama mo ang unang nagpapanic kesa sa mother. i think tinuturo yan sa birth classes. mahalaga talaga ang support. sila kasi ang makakapag isip ng maayos at hindi ang nanay. may times talaga hihingi ka ng pain reliever para kasing nawawala ka sa ulirat (normal yun) pero kapag ang bantay mo ay katulad ng kapatid ko.. deadma!hahahaha..

my husband now is the one who will be with me through out the labor. may briefing na siya kung ano dapat niyang gawin. hindi ko kasama sister ko sa hospital, nerbiyosa kasi siya. baka mauna pa siya mag advise sa OB turukan ako once she sees me in pain.  ;D

gusto ko ng home water birth pero hindi rin available dito. my sister in law by the way is a registered midwife/doula sa UK so binibigyan din niya ako ng tips since matagal nakong hindi nanganak ulit. dun nga daw very calm ang mother. walang eksenang pang pelikula.hahaha. minamassage nila ang likod, my calming music, dim lights, warm bath.. anything na magpapakalma sa nanay. kasi ang purpose anesthesia/epidural is to calm the mother kasi yung ibang nanay natetense sobra when they go into active labor, so sa ospital nila they're advocate on doing the natural way. the least medical intervention as possible.

@sis lovemeagan thanks for sharing :) I will put in this mind na trauma kasi since na confine ako 9 ads due to pre-term labor...during that time I cried several times sa OB because of my fear I was 23 weeks then, but thank God si husband calm siya talaga, ngayon nga I'm trying to practice na wag mag panic lalo na pag pain ako, if kaya ko ng wala ng epidural I will do that....

anyways, kahit nanganak nako dati tuloy parin ang research ko kung anong dapat gawin. i wont say im expert kahit ba naka ere nako hehe. so nag aaral parin ako para hindi parin ako matakot or kabahan (yes may kaba parin siyempre ako! ). mabuti nalang may Google na ngayon. :) saka prayers din, it really helps lalo na sa mga mommies who are about to deliver soon. walang impossible sa dasal.

^ sis nicoleta have you experienced a very bad diarrhea with a combination of a backpain? that's the closest thing i can compare with. the pain is almost similar or should i say even greater than that!  :D lalo na when you reach the last stage of your labor and almost ready for pushing. this is not to scare you ah but its always better to be prepared in your mind.  :)

by the way mga sis, you're welcome. we still got time to read up and prepare (emotionally and physically). dagdag ko lang pala ang proper breathing techniques during labor. it's a great help din para satin. :)

thank you for sharing your stories. nakakahelp talaga now that malapit na rin ako manganak. First time mom and really don't know what to expect eh. I know there will be pain pero hinde ko alam upto what extent. I just pray and hope for the best. I talk to my baby na wag niya ako mashado pahirapan. Huwag naman sana ako matrauma sa sakit.

I will talk to hubby to stay calm and remind me to stay calm too. May tendency pa naman si hubby to give in pagnaawa na sa akin yun.  hehe

Thank you again and keep the stories coming. )

God bless everyone!

^ sis Jaguar.Paw you mean yung clitoral piercing?  :) ilang weeks to go kanalang ba? I think kung malapit na due date mo baka pede mo na ipaalis kasi somehow pag malapit ka na manganak mamaga ng konti yung vajajay mo. some women experienced swelling in genital area. bawas din sa discomfort and irritation.

yes mahal nga ang water birth sa both hospitals na nabanggit. maybe because we are just starting this method sa Pinas kaya konti pa ang market nila, mostly sa mga mayayaman pa.  :D

finally umikot na pala baby ko sa tamang position @ 31 weeks and 1 day! whew, kinabahan kaya kami ng Dad niya kasi last time hindi pa siya naka position pero may catch eto,, hindi siya malaking baby at madami pa akong room sa uterus na pede niyang ikutan plus maayos din ang level ng amniotic fluid ko. we still have 7 weeks to go for full term so meron parin chance magpa sirko sirko parin siya diyan.  ;D
close monitoring nalang talaga kami every checkup.

im working also with my diet now. malaki akong magbuntis pero hindi malaki si baby. tama naman gestational age niya sa LMP pero small baby daw. well hindi naman kami malaking tao na mag asawa, malaking babae lang ako dahil buntis plus manas din kasi,, pero we'll see kung pano pa namin iimprove weight ni baby sa luob. 2 weeks from now may blood sugar test ako. sana nga rin hindi mataas.

it's almost mid of July na. ambilis ng panahon. good luck na sa mga naka scheduled for this month! :D

@lovemeagaiin30 pareho tayo I'm 31 weeks na din. When ang due mo?

I'll ask my OB.

I'm aiming a normal delivery with no epidural sana and sa clinic lang ni OB manganak. Ayoko talaga mag CS.
