^ I'm not sure if my experienced with my first born will help your fears sisters,, kasi iba-iba tayo ng experience in giving birth pero share ko narin kung sakaling makatulong sa first time moms.
ang natutunan ko nuong unang panganganak ko is to make sure the mother should always feels 'calm' through out the labor. i'm not saying hindi eto magiging masakit ah.. pero yes masakit maglabor kaya ngayon palang iready na ang mind for that. I wont put sugarcoat to it, masakit siya pero hindi ibig sabihin nun ikakamatay mo yung sakit.

why do you need to keep your calmness and composure through out your labor? it's because if tense ang nanay,, tensyonado din ang baby.

remember that they're also human being. let's not just focus on our own pain but their condition as well. kung magpapanic at iiyak ang mother,, mafefeel eto ng bata at somehow maapektuhan siya. kaya madalas na iistress ang condition ng sanggol. kapag mas kalmado ang nanay mas hindi mahihirapan si baby bumaba sa daanan niya. di ba sabi nga nila satin ngayon buntis tayo na if we are tense and stress,, chances our babies inside feels the same way.
share ko lang that i had my first labor for almost 22 hours. it was really exhausting kasi i started my contraction at 12 am in the morning and i gave birth 9:30 in the evening of the same day! Kapoy talaga.

hindi kasi ako nag dilate agad. hindi rin nabasag ang water bag ko. wala akong mucus plug until almost 8 pm na nung lumabas ang dugo sa panty ko. so the whole time what i was doing is walk and walk and walk. meron akong yellow paper and pen kasi i was jotting down notes also yung interval ng contractions ko and how strong or how long it last till the next round. inoorasan ko siya using my timer. yun kasi nagpapakalma sakin eh, knowing na kapag mas "strong" and mas konti na ang interval ng contractions, i'm closer to the moment that i will get to see my son. where did i get these idea? i was reading a lot of books while i was pregnant kasi di pa uso Google nuon.

i also had my labor at home. nung chineck ako ng morning 7 am na @ 2 cm palang ako dilated. I've decied to go home and wait for my labor. may iba kasing babae na kapag hindi familiar ang environment sakanya let's say in the hospital minsan nahihirapan mag labor or bigla nalang nawawala yung pain (same case with Jolina Magdangal). may psychological effect din kasi yun nanay. kaya nga sa ibang bansa nauuso ang 'home birth' delivery kasi mas relaxed ang mommies sa sarili niyang tahanan. uso narin nga ang water birth di ba? hindi ko sinabing gawin niyo rin eto ah.. pero yun nga with my case, i chose to labor at home kasi hindi ako kumportable na madaming tao nakatingin sakin habang sinusubukan kong itawid yung pain ko.
during my labor may times na gusto kong sumigaw sa sobrang sakit but my brother (who is also a pediatrician by profession) always remind me not to do that since baby will get stressed as well. in return, umuungol nalang ako sa sakit.

there was a time i told him na parang di ko na yata kakayanin at gusto ko na ng anesthesia or magpa CS na! lalo na nung closer na yung interval ng contractions.. my brother was just calmed, smiled and said "No. you're not gonna have anesthesia. it will slow down your progress and vaginal birth is what you want". ako naman nuon Nga nga! hahaha. wala nako kasi ako sa katinuan ko during active labor but you know what? i was glad my brother was there to remind of the birthplan kasi kung wala siya malamang kung ano-ano na ang hiningi ko.
when 9 pm came and i had mucus plug, we went to the hospital na kasi our house was just near to it. they prepped me up and before they wheeled me to the delivery room,, my brother again whispered to my ears, and said "oh wag kang iiyak.. wag kang sisigaw.. kalmado kalang. kaya yan."..
kaya after 3 push ayun tapos ang laban!

Sorry mga sis napahaba ang post ko. bottomline lang na kung gusto kong sabihin is kaya natin to! just keep your composure and your calmness-- all the time. magiging masakit OO pero hindi mo eto ikamamatay promise!

akala ko nga nuon hihimatayin ako eh sa sakit pero hindi naman, nagigising nga ko lalo.hahaha. saka talk to your baby during labor, hindi lang ikaw ang nagmomoment kundi pati narin siya. teamwork eto between mother and child din. also have a good support with you like hubby or any members of the family who will remind that this is a stage that you have to go through, at hindi sila pa yung unang magpapanic kesa sayo! Your OB will be there to guide you so trust her on this and most of all, trust your body.
Good Luck satin mga sis! God bless us with healthy pregnancy and safe labor.
