To those who use medela electric pumps, how often should you replace the membranes?

hi sisses, how do you clean the pump parts? do you use electric sterilizers? If yes, what brand?

I got my Medela PISA already. I chose this over the freestyle kasi mas malakas daw yung motor and hindi sirain unlike the freestyle plus im a stay at home mom so okay lang na mabigat. Mother of my hubby gave me a medela harmony, libre lang daw from the hospital so she gave me one. I really do hope with all the paraphernalia I bought eh  ma breastfeed ko si baby for at least a year.

I was so excited about my medela pisa, I tried it just to get the feel of it. Kung masasaktan ba ako or what. Tried for a good 3 minutes perhaps and i stopped when i saw parang clear substance sa pump ko. Konti lang naman mga 1 or 2 drops. I researched it and it looks like its foremilk. Natakot ako kasi baka mag contract ako. Sobrang excited lang.

Bought avent manual pump and happy with it. Hindi masakit and madame ako napupump. Medyo maingay lang [textspeak!] pump pero ok na yun kaysa masakit sa breast.
And lahat pa ng parts pwede isterilize.

i have ameda purely yours double electric pump. i bought it 2009 for my 2nd son. ebf ako sa kanya for more than two years, then i got preggy again to my 3rd and was able to use the pump pa rin for a year before the motor broke. i just have it replaced and it's still working. now i'm expecting my 4th baby and still planning to use it.

what i like with ameda:
- madali linisin
- it has car adapter para i can pump in the car if needed
- pwede rin gamitan ng AA battery

i used medela swing for my eldest before. im a working mom but 1 year kami na EBF thanks to that medela swing   i sold it agad when i stopped pumping coz i figured id definitely upgrade to a double pump pag nagkaanak ako ulit. ang tagal kasi pag single pump, 1 breast = 20 mins so total pumping time ko is 40 mins for both breasts. tapos i pump pa 3-4x a day pa.

anyway, im now 14 wks preggy and was able to buy medela pisa online at P7500, 2nd hand.  ok lang naman yun for me coz hygiene-wise i can always sterilize the parts. as long as ok yung makina and the items are complete im good to go.  yung natipid ko ipambibili ko na lang ng spare parts like membrane & tubing. yun yung unang nasira sa medela swing ko dati so i'll make sure to have backups.

medela lang ata ang breast pump na binebenta nila.

i'm now using unimom elec breast pump. i bought spectra manual breast pump nung una pero mahina ako magproduce ng milk e ... nangangalay ako sa manual so i switched to electric. ok naman yung unimom. i ordered via babymama.ph.

i used Medela freestyle double electric pump and happy naman ako sa naging usage nya for me.

I got the Medela Swing Maxi, ito yung pumalit sa PISA nila. Pinagpilian ko Swing Maxi tsaka Freestyle, same naman sila double-pump. Eventually chose the Swing Maxi kasi parang mas efficient ang paggamit ng batteries.

For now, I'm still doing direct breastfeeding so di ko pa nata-try mag-pump. About 3-4wks to go then start na ako pump.

My mommy friends have advised wag muna bumili ng breast pump until you're sure that you can secrete milk. I will be receiving a Medela set coz one of them wasn't able to use it kasi dry sya.

^ from the most recent price list I have from Medela House, single electric pump is 9500 (swing single). For double electric pump, me 13500 (swing maxi) and me 19000 (freestyle).

I was contemplating on buying Medela breastpump because of good reviews, pero aside sa mahirap sya hanapin dito sa pilipinas, sobrang mahal din. willing sana ako mag ipon. Pero nabasa ko dito din sa thread na to yung about sa babymama.ph and yung cimilre and spectra. Na inlove ako sa cimilre m1 kasi maliit lang yung motor nya, double pump na din, may massage function at rechargeable ang battery (sa lahat ng pump sa site eto lang ang rechargeable at eto din pinakamaliit). Gusto ko ng maliit because I will be working and I want my pump to be as portable as possible. Okay na okay ang mga reviews sa kanya kaya decided nako bumili nito sa august before I get back to work. What I like about babymama.ph is paypal yung payment method nila which is trusted na talaga and tested and proven ko na rin. 

Starting nung 3 weeks si baby, sinasanay ko na sya na uminom sa bottle pag daytime tapos direct feeding pag gabi. Buti naman hindi naman sya na confuse dede lang ng dede mapa bote man o sakin. Hopefully tuloy tuloy. And ang gamit kong pump ngayon is yung farlin na manual. Okay naman, hindi masakit, though wala akong point of comparison kasi never naman ako nag try ng iba. Eto kasi yung mura (700+ lang), and maganda din reviews kaya eto muna binili ko temporary lang naman and pang back up pag may electric nako. Nakakangalay talaga sa braso pag manual  yung milk na napupump I have no idea kung okay o hindi, pero I can pump atleast 4 oz on both breasts per pumping session. Padami ng padami everyday yata. Just now 6 oz na. mag 1 mo.pa lang ang baby ko sa 10. I guess ok naman ang supply.

- sis sale yung farlin sa Megamall around 600+ na lang pero wala kasing spare parts at 3 months warranty lang sa parts sabi ng saleslady. sabi nung tindera, pag lumabas daw milk, hold lang daw then release at pump again para lumabas ulit milk. totoo ba yon? o dapat continuous pump?

next month pa naman due ko so di muna ako bibili. kung sakali, kay babymama na din ako bibili kasi yung mga brands makers of breastpump talaga.

@chubbycheeks yung farlin 700 something ko nabili hindi naka sale yun. Yung cimilre m1, di ko pa nabibili, balak ko sa august pa pero 7800 sya sa babymama.ph. not bad para sa double electric. check mo yung site sis, marami ka pagpipilian dun.

@jaguar.paw sorry sis di ko masyadong magets, actually di ko din alam na may warranty pala yun. binili ko lang sya kasi mura, and pang temporary lang muna i've read kasi in a blog na maganda din sya kahit mura. compare mo naman yung presyo sa avent 5k ata manual pa lang. Tsaka yung parts, I think careful na lang tayo para di mawala. Yung ginagawa kong pag pump sa una mabilis, to encourage let down ng milk at pag napansin ko na me lumabas na, yung normal na speed na. parang ganun daw kasi mag suck mga baby, mabilis muna tapos steady na pag may milk na lumabas (courtesy of youtube). Pag naubos na yung milk, ina adjust ko pa yung pump kasi usually hindi pa talaga said yun.

Hi sis!  I just started pumping and di ko alam na ganun pala gamit nung letdown mode haha.  Di ko sya nagagamit dati.  How many minutes ka nagpupump?  I've been pumping for 2 weeks now.  Siguro 5 times a day.
