sis, safe naman daw kumuha ng cab kahit gabi na. Sumunod yung friend namin samin the following night and she arrived safe. wala pa atang 45mins nasa Ratchaprop na siya. Just be alert nalang. Thais are one of the nicest people I've ever seen. As in lahat naka-smile at polite nakakahiya magtaray!

^^ yes sis, safe naman din ang mga cabs nila kahit super-late na. Or if madami kayo and gusto nyo yung sure na safe and secure kayo, you can get a transpo service from the AOT counter, para recorded. Fixed rate, depends sa type of car na kukunin nyo - from sedan, AUV's, to van. Reasonable rate na din naman. Otherwise, taxi is ok na din. Pag taxi, just make sure you have the hotel address in Thai (just print from hotel website) para mas madali nila mahanap at maintindihan kung san hotel nyo.

And I suggest booking the hotel for the night na, kahit late na dating. Para maka-rest din kayo, recharged for the next day. Reasonable naman hotel rates sa BKK. Or if you booked a 4*-5* hotel and namamahalan kayo sa extra night dun, just book a cheaper hotel within the same area para tulugan, then lipat sa hotel nyo talaga the following day after breakfast.

One time naman years ago, what I did was I booked a hotel near the airport (na me free airport transfers) kasi mag-isa lang ako and I came from a road trip same day before leaving for BKK. Kumbaga, super-pagod ako nun, baka makatulog ako sa taxi dahil sa pagod, plus I wanted to rest na din asap. Then after breakfast the next day, tsaka ako lumipat sa city.

thanks for these advices ms.fashionpl8 & bagaholic_chewy.. I will keep those in mind. better nga to get hotel na agad so we can rest and have energy for the next day.

sana walang mag-take advantage na cab driver. I have a friend kasi who went there recently and she said there was a cab that took them to a market tapos pinilipit na mag-window shop kahit di naman talaga don destination nila. they pleased the driver pero pilit na pilit so they got off the cab and transfer to diff one. I got scared as soon as I heard that story. sana di ako maka-encounter ng ganon..

i called and talked sa customer service nila ang cancelled nga daw ang mga flights mentioned... kaya pina refund ko na lang kasi if ilagay ko sa travel fund baka wala akong makitang promo rates agad before mag expire, if transfer naman ng schedule baka naman eventually i-cancel na naman nila kaya refund na lang. Now good luck na lang ang 45 working days processing sa refund...haaay

My husband was the captain of our flight, too, but the wife of his FO also flew with us. Twas my first time to meet her. Nice couple. Maliit lang ang mundo ng A320 family. OT na.

A friend is currently in BKK preparing for her Thai wedding, to be held after her wedding in the Philippines. Can't believe the tongue-twister last name she'll be getting! She recently posted photos of the supposed rally sites but the crowds were almost nil. Too bad the protest scares have affected their tourism industry in BKK city itself a lot, with a lot of flights being cancelled.

With all the news of these rallies and flight cancellations left and right, I'm having second thoughts kung sasama ako kay hubby for his recurrent training in BKK next month. I hope things will settle down soon. Food trip ulit! Hehe.

I'm having second thoughts din if I would buy ticket from manila to bangkok. Nakabili na kasi ako nang bangkok to manila nung may promo dati. Ngayon may promo uli yung date na napili ko sa may naguguluhan ako kung bibili ako kasi iniisip ko nga na wag nang tumuloy.

Just got back from bkk last feb. 11. Hindi naman nakakatakot situation dun, madami pa ring turista, though a lot of roads were close kasi dun sila nagpoprotesta, roads around siam, central, yung tulay papuntang mbk sarado din. Kaya walkaton, if you're planning to go to shopping areas ma eencounter mo talaga sila, pero harmless naman they'll just check your bags parang katulad lang dito sa pinas. Just because i felt na safe naman and wala namang threats, 3 times pako bumalik sa areas na mga to.

Flying to Bangkok next week.  Hotels are really cheap because of the protests. We should be fine,  methinks.

My two cents, go! More of media hype yung protests. Yes, may areas na magulo, I guess. But isolated areas and not as bad as it seems on tv. I went downtown, ok naman din. Nice nga no traffic nowadays eh!

Cebu Pacific's flights to and from Bangkok, Thailand continue to operate as scheduled, as the Suvarnabhumi Airport remains operational at this time. We are closely monitoring developments and will provide flight updates as needed.

We have temporarily reduced flights to and from Bangkok, and will be cancelling the following flights on these dates:

5J 931 Manila – Bangkok (February 8-22 and March 2 – 14, 2014)
5J 932 Bangkok – Manila (February 9-23 and March 3 – 15, 2014)

Guests on these flights will be re-accommodated in the next available flights, or they may avail any of the following options:

• Free rebooking of flight within 30 days from original departure date;
• Reroute to the nearest alternate airport; or
• Request for a full travel fund or full refund

hi mga sis, as soon as nakita ko itong post ni sis dimplesgon, i called cebupac hotline and checked our flights if there's any cancellations, luckily, our MNL-BKK flight 5J 931 is not cancelled flight date is March1, then our BKK-MNL flight 5J 930, is not affected kasi ang nasa announcement is 5J 932.
Though yung flight back namin is March 4, so pasok yung dates pero hindi 5J 930.

Kaka-kaba talaga...ayaw ko na mag rebook or cancelled.

^ cebupac's cancellation : since affected mismo ang flights namin, both papunta and pauwi, no choice ako - kasi sila na mismo ang nag cancel.

since i dont' think na magagamit ko agad yung refund within 90 days (yun kasi ang deadline if ilalagay sa travel fund) - baka kasi wala akong makuhang promo flights na gusto ko - pinili ko na lang ang FULL REFUND.

I paid via credit card, sabi ng customer service nung pinrocess ang full refund, mga 45 to 60 working days daw bago mabalik sa credit card ko.

so far ang bilis lang naman.... february 4 na cancel, february 19 naibalik na sa credit card ko yung full amount

so for now postpone muna ang BKK, maybe next year na lang

I was there last week. If you avoid the protest/barricaded areas, the city seems peaceful. I stayed there for a week and I was even walking past Asok (the road was closed and had hundreds of protesters and makeshift tents) a few times. There wasn't a moment that I felt unsafe.

Taxis are easy to find too, surprisingly.

1st time namin in bangkok this july, sana wala ng protests. ok lang ba mag avail ng buffet lunch sa baiyoke for thr free viewing sa observation and revolving deck?

^yup, ok lang yan. Better to reserve para mas mabilis ka makapasok sa resto. Usually, dinner buffet kami sa Baiyoke para di mainit sa revolving roofdeck.

thanks sis! any suggestions na mura but clean na hotel near the area? yung walking distance lang sana. we just need the basic na tulugan with clean bathroom.
