Balance between living your life and saving for your future

Me rin sis as of now I don't have a computation on how much goes to what but Im more into saving more now for my future and my family's future.  I'd rather splurge next time than now when Im still young and can still do a lot of things.  Maybe in 5 to 10 years thats the time I can relax and spend more time with enjoying and relaxing

It's different when you have a child na. For me mas madali mag save kapag wala pang anak. Pero kapag may anak ka, andon yung mas malaking motivation to save kasi alam mo na kailangan lagi kang may pera. Hindi pwedeng wala kasi may nakaasa sayo na bata.

For us, the rule is kailangan makapag allot kami ng funds sa investments, savings, basic needs, bills to pay, education, etc bago kami gumastos ng kung ano ano for travel, shopping, etc. In short, bago kami mag luho dapat lahat ng priority mauna.

So kung walang extra, manahimik sa bahay haha!

I firmly believe in saving first then rewarding yourself after. mahirap kasi iyong biglaan may emergency tapos wala kang madukot sa bulsa.

Yes, I think its balanced naman. I go for % allotment so I get to enjoy the now and save for the future.

I'm in my late twenties already and sad to say, ngayon pa lang talaga ako nag-start building my emergency fund. I tried living on 30% of my gross income lang, sobrang tipid talaga. I'm still single for now, but lumaki na rin yung percent ng ginagastos ko kasi I realized I can't live without buying some wants--like clothes and skin care products.

What I do now is that I save big chunk of my salary on the first 11 months of the year. Tapos all income and bonuses that I will receive on December will be spent for travels or kung saan ko gustong luho. Konting splurge lang during Jan-Nov like eat out, movie saka I buy clothes talaga kasi need sa office.

I used to deactivate my fb account from time to time kasi naiinggit ako sa mga college friends ko when I see their travels, big purchases like cars and whatnot. I tend to compare my life to them. Pero ngayon I think I'm ok na, I focus on my goals on how much I should save for this particular year. And hindi na ko naiinggit sa iba, it inspires me now to see them on my newsfeed and I always tell myself na konting tiis pa, I will get there eventually.

I noticed also that I have changed my habit na when I'm online here in GT. Mas tumatambay na ko ng matagal sa 'Savings and Investments' thread kesa sa 'Let's Primp and Prettyfy'. Nauubos kasi pera ko dun

Every salary:
10% for tithes
20% for savings/emergency funds
20% for insurance
20% investment
30% to spend :
Monthly savings for kid's tuition para naman saved money for exams /tuition time
Grocery
Gala with kids, weekend outings, etc

if medyo paubos na ang allocated "fun" budget, we go visit my friends, and they play with their kids, or just hang out, they watch tv, I cook their favorite pancakes and popcorn, and I go to my friend's houses, or we just meet to jog in our sports complex, or join zumba in our local grocery na malapit sa amin, haha,. simple happiness
