ano ba talaga ang tunay na relihiyon?
« on: July 29, 2013, 03:28:40 pm »
 ???

Are you looking for God or maybe you are looking for religion? I have been Catholic since then but I think I found God much more than in any place. Yes may mga pasway n Katoliko but there are much more exemplary Catholics.

Liturgical prayers, yes paulit ulti but if you understand and ponder on it? its not boring but it is like praising God again and again.

The liturgy is paulit ulit but you can pray your own, mass is the communion of Christ and Man.

Have you ever tried to attend a tridentine  mass, if not try it and tell me you have not felt the power during the worship. I think you have not studied well or you have forgotten your Catholic Catechism.

Finally if you are looking and relying so much on any religion for your faith, you are bound to fail in your search. for there is no perfect religion, so pag nag ka problema dun lipat ka na naman. Religion hopping.

Try watching the "Journey Home" segment of EWTN, you can watch it on you tube, its all about personal accounts of people like you. Their experiences might help you.

Ponder on this Catholic song

In Him Alone
In Him alone is our hope
In Him alone is our strength
In Him alone are we justified
In Him alone are we saved

What have we to offer
That does not fade or wither
Can the world ever satisfy
The emptiness in our hearts
In vain we deny (REFRAIN)

When will you cease running
In search of hollow meaning
Let His love feed the hunger
In your soul till it overflows
With joy you yearn to know (REFRAIN)

May the Good Lord guide you in your search.

There is no One True Religion
(even though that's what some/all religions would really claim, because ALL of them cannot be right ALL at the same time. It's not logical, but ALL of them can be WRONG in some way or another, whether in doctrine, tradition or leadership.)

There is only One True God
(Now, GOD is a Trinity and that is a mystery, as most Christians believe like Catholics, Protestants, born-again, except for the INC (tao lang si JC), Jehovah's Witness (arch angel lang si JC), etc.
(And yes, they have many supporting [misinterpreted] bible verses for that.)
We always pray in the NAME (not the plural name/s with an S) because they are ONE.
In the NAME of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

So I have also pondered upon this Catholic Song

In Him Alone
In Him alone is our hope
In Him alone is our strength
In Him alone are we justified
In Him alone are we saved

(Sola Cristus, and nothing else, not Sola Iglesia, it is not the church or religion or fellowship that will save you, as some of them teach that you need to join in any or all of them. It is only God Himself, our Savior. God alone, whether you are out at sea, or on the mountain tops, where there are no people and no church, God alone.)

What have we to offer
That does not fade or wither
Can the world ever satisfy
The emptiness in our hearts
In vain we deny (REFRAIN)

(What we can we offer to God, nothing, nothing Good except our SINS. Not even our very lives are enough to save us from our own sins. That's why God gave His Own Life for us instead.
Not our 99% good/charity works, 99% good life. No one is holy enough to see God, not the Priest, not the Pastor, not the Minister, not the Saints, not the Apostles/Disciples/Prophets, not Mary and Joseph, they are just MERE people loved and used by God, they give blood sacrifices before Christ was crucified, all are equally Sinners in God's eyes.)

When will you cease running
In search of hollow meaning
Let His love feed the hunger
In your soul till it overflows
With joy you yearn to know (REFRAIN)

(Only God can satisfy our Soul. He put it there, a vacuum only He can fill up. But if we look for it in the people, in the church, in religion, in our own good works. It won't work. Let yourself WORSHIP as God wants you to Worship, not the ways dictated or inhibited by church people, clap or raise your hands up high, sing with all your heart, shout loud, jump for joy, dance with all your might like King David, kneel or drop flat on the floor in total surrender to God. Express yourself to God. When you love someone, you don't hold back your feelings, so why hold back from God, your Creator, your Father, your Savior? He means so much more than anything or anyone in this world.)

Let God choose for you, which church you should go, where your Spiritual life would grow in maturity, where His presence is always there, where the people are truly His children, obedient and submissive to biblical teachings. Never put more importance to a priest/pastor/minister/saint or even a doctrine/dogma/teaching/tradition higher than God Himself. He is above ALL else.

There are may kinds of religion, but be sure your religion brings you back home... not to some where...

We may all call ourselves believers of God, yet act differently, for even the demon believes in God, remember, there are no atheist among the demons (St. James)... we all believe, only differently... Our daily life (lives) and works will reflect what kind of faith/believer we are...

a lot of the comments here are right and at the same time off the mark. ngek pano nangyari yun? LOL

sis, i've tried a lot of religions and just like you i was raised a catholic, then i tried christian groups din later, buddhism, hinduism, jainism, taoism, our local christian based latin, known as Philippine Kabala, esoteric masters and teachers,

may formula yan. at pag nahanap mo, the different religions will not matter.

its just that sometimes you have to go around to find the "formula" lol.

parang magulang, hindi lahat naieexplain ng mabuti ng magulang. it takes other people pa to explain things better to you. so ganun din ang spiritual belief.

and a lot of times it takes a CERTAIN belief to BRING OUT the BEST in a person - that is doon ka kung saan ka magkakaroon ng pinakamalaking positibong pagbabago sa buhay mo.

kung sa belief C ka makakakuha ng pinakamalaking pagbabago, doon ka pumunta, kahit pilit hatakin ka pa ng galing sa belief A or B or D etc. hindi din naman natin sila masisisi dahil doon sila nakakuha ng pinakamalaking pagbabago sa buhay nila. it may work for you, it may not work for you. you can try, but if doesn't, you'd have to move on.

look for the inner meaning. as most of these beliefs focus on the physical / external meaning.

a lot of people do not know what Hanuman represents. kala nila. yun na yon.
they don't know what Shiva represents at bakit siya blue. kala nila yun na yun.
they don't know what "saints" are. kaya they dont believe. the don't know the inner meaning.
they don't even know the inner meaning of repetition. which has something to do with power and a whole lot more.
and yet, a lot of them SECRETLY seek spiritual healers for help pag sila ang nakulam. even companies are like that.

so look for the inner meaning...the inner teachings...

napapansin ko sa mga taong who feel "pagka-uhaw" sa faith will convert to other religion and would say they found God in that religion, nagbago ang buhay nila etc etc..

for me personally, rather than converting or diverting to other religion, why not deepen your faith by researching what your faith is. as a Catholic, ano ba ang mga teachings ng simbahan na dapat kong alamin sa faith ko. bakit nga ba ito ang kinagishan kong faith simula pagkabata, ano ba ang dapat kong alamin sa paniniwalang ito.

kaya maraming Katoliko ang madaling mag-convert to other religion kasi kadalasan hindi nila alam kung ano ang faith nila, ang babaw ng pagkaka-alam nila sa faith nila. kaya tuloy pag nagka-bf na ibang religion, easily moved and converted.

the irony is, mas marami ngang nagiging mabuting christiano when they leave the catholic faith. hindi naiiba sa pinoy na nag ibang bansa, mas lalo sila nagiging tunay at mabuting Pilipino.

you'll never really know until you've left. but not until you've walked that path, will a person have the right to sow judgement.

dapat nga mas masaya tayo na masaya sila...na may fulfillment sila, na gumanda relation nila sa pamilya nila at sa kapwa...

if one couldn't be happy for others, then there's something wrong with him

whether the person becomes better or not, that's not the point, what I'm saying is, have the person sought his very best effort to find what her faith is, or basta lang "try ko nga sa iba, mukhang mas masaya dun, mukhang mas accepted ako dun, may feeling of belongingness, etc etc.". the problem with us sometimes, we find faults on what we have para lang din majustify ang next actions natin.

a person still doesn't know what she've left kasi nga in the first place, the person didn't exert effort to know "what it is, what it has, what the teachings were, etc.."

my point is you're saying all of these because you have not been there.

when you leave something for something better and you finally find that thing you're looking for,
in the end whether shallow or not ang reason ng paglipat lipat ng isang tao, lahat yun under God's will. tatawanan mo lang later yun. God works in mysterious ways. never underestimate his love.

oh well.. pointless to argue with you, you don't get the point anyway... wag masyadong magpaka-feeling righteous, nakakabulag yan ng pagkatao.

on the contrary, since ikaw na rin lang ang nag-bring-up nyan,  kung sinasabi mong maraming naging "better" christian when they left catholic, siguro nabilang mo kaya mo nasabi yan. with me naman, di na ako lalayo pa, may mga relatives akong naging "christian" kuno, and they think sila na ang pinaka righteous na nilalang sa mundong ibabaw, kung mang-offend ng kapwa wagas, kung mamintas ng kapwa, wagas din... kasi iniisip nila, faith alone can save them, kaya wa pakels sa pagiging mabuting tao at pakikipag-kapwa tao. may isa pa akong kilala, nag-asawa nagconvert to christian faith, iniwan ang tatay nyang may sakit, hindi sinusuportahan man lang, nasan ang support, andun sa byenan nyang righteous na tulad nya.

actually ikaw yung pointless. ako gets ko sinasabi mo. dumaan na ako diyan eh. ang tanong, gets mo ba sanasabi ko? or are you just mirroring your ignorance?

alam mo sa explanation mo pa lang kita na ako klase kang tao. with all those negative things you mentioned. well, ang tanong bakit yung ang nangyayari sa paligid mo. ang tanong bakit negative mga nakikita mo?

cased closed. its on you. hahahaha

Have you considered that maybe you don't need a religion? Maybe you can reflect what think you are missing.  If you think you are missing/looking for deeper faith in a god/gods (depends on what you believe in) then maybe research on different faiths. Faith in people, maybe join groups that help people. Wonderment in the miracle of life, maybe learn science?

^ I agree with this one.

Laging may point in time na lahat ng bagay sa mundo tatanungin natin -- on what is on our raison d'etre, our faith, our own selves, everything around us. In this point of time, we feel that whatever we usually do or whatever we usually think is already that bland.

Kaya nga may "identity crisis" di ba? We try to find ourselves and in that course, we question anything and everything that comes through our lives. We resort to all other religions, we change our lifestyles, we change our discourse, but at the end of the day, we commit to whatever we think that is important and essential to our lives, that includes the faith which you think will bring out the best in you. :D

That's why I feel na agreeable rin ang POVs nina akthung and bluish_mommy. Kesyo sasabihin na eto ang totoong faith kasi sabi ni ganito, friends mo nasa ganung religion, may perks na ganyan pag kasali ka sa ganyang religion -- well, those superficial things won't definitely help. Pag yung pagiging Catholic naman yung para sa isang tao, he will definitely end up being a Catholic if he learns the profound inner meaning of it. This is why I ended up remaining myself being a Catholic kahit na I am practicing other beliefs and even though I have a lot of anti-theist (which is generally perceived as openly and aggressively atheist) and agnostic friends :D

-------------------------------------

OT na medyo related naman sa topic: Sorry, I just felt the need to react on this one:

...may mga relatives akong naging "christian" kuno, and they think sila na ang pinaka righteous na nilalang sa mundong ibabaw, kung mang-offend ng kapwa wagas, kung mamintas ng kapwa, wagas din... kasi iniisip nila, faith alone can save them, kaya wa pakels sa pagiging mabuting tao at pakikipag-kapwa tao.

Sorry ha sis, but the problem is not on the religion they belong to; the problem is their own selves. If their attitudes changed for the worse when they changed their religion, then their reason for doing so was to feed their own ego -- for example, they felt like "they have transcended into a being higher than anyone else," as you said, "iniisip nila, faith alone can save them."

Hi sis nettai, slight comment lang. Hindi lahat ng open and aggressive atheists ay anti-theists. anti-theists mostly believe that religion is harmful and should be eradicated; many 'out' atheists don't necessarily share this belief.

^ Whoops, sorry for the wrong choice of words sis. It should be "generally perceived" (as in 'wrongly perceived'), not "considered". Editing my post. :P

According to many alternative sites/news which is up to you to believe sunako16 is that religion was originally created by the Vatican to control people;  to have power over them by asking you to believe that they were appointed by the creator as a someone to lord over you thereby you must give your absolute obedience and to question them is a blasphemous act that results in death and excommunication.

So to answer your question is that you don't need any religion to be identified with.  The creator (god) does not punish people because they did not pray hard every sunday or send you to hell because you had failed to tithe, its  the Vatican who use fear to control people into submission.

That's okay sis nettai, no problem. Gusto ko lang ma-clarify kasi very varied din ang atheists hindi din sila makahon sa iisang paniniwala. basta hindi naniniwala sa deity/deities atheists yun. pwede ding maging atheists and secular humanists, pastafarians, anti-theists, etc at the same time.

^^ to be fair sis allura, lumabas din ang ganyang findings sa anthropological studies (Jared Diamond, etc) that religion was to control people and unite them towards achieving a single goal, unite against enemies, and to enhance the chances of a certain community to survive and win against enemies.

as for me all religion are lighthouses and we are ashore.  whichever lighthouse shines the brightest for you, there should you go.  there is not one better religion than any other. each is flawed because it is managed by men.  hence religion is the lighthouse to which one you think brings you home to God should be your guide.
