Paypal Concerns - Thread 2

Help mga experts.  I need to pay someone via Paypal for some stuff I bought (wanna buy). My problem is, I don't know where to start. Here's my case:

- I have a Paypal Acct (PH) but no bank acct and no credit card linked to it. It has a minimal balance which were payments sent to me when I did some onine work.  I have no existing CC to link to it now. My bank account is only Citibank NA and not Visa/MC.
 
- I need to pay someone in the US for goods I bought.

- I'm having the goods shipped to the US (for consolidation with other goods).

- Seller suggests I put the US address in my Paypal acct.

- How can I pay for the goods? My sis will let me use her CC.

If wala kang CC, meron ang Unionbank na EON card for paypal, parang atm card. You  can deposit first the exact money before paying through paypal or have funds in it dun ako nagsimula. Hindi lang ako sure ngayon kung may required minimum balance na kasi dati wala naman. (I use my CC now)

Now about paying i encountered almost the same problem but Japan based then shipment to US. Japan seller restricts to ship only on the same address in Paypal which is ofcourse the CC address, obviously its not possible so I didn't push through.

I looked for another seller of the same item Japan based also and messaged first if he allows to change the shipping address and agreed so I got it.

Try to negotiate with the seller. If not look for another seller, if none ask about other payment methods! try and try! hehe!

^^good to know sis they say that if its transferred on or before 8am, then by Friday mid day the funds are  there on your bank account na. So yung transfer ko sis maybe later tonight pa yun since it was transferred late Wednesday night, crossing fingers.

UPDATE - Funds transferred at around 10:30pm Wednesday arrived on my account Saturday morning 

sis ang bilis ngayon. I transferred around 10AM Wednesday, nasa BPI account ko na ng Thursday 7PM.

Meron talagang times na ganito na sobrang bilis pero 90% of the time e 2 workings day inaabot.

Kailangan kong maglink ng debit/credit card sa Paypal account ko.

May mga online sites na ayaw i-approve ang payments ko sa kanila kung walang nakalink na debit/credit card.

^just save it sis sa paypal account mo. Paypal verifies the card also..

Hindi din lahat ng CC inaaccept ng Paypal.. I have Metrobank Toyota I need to spend 6k to waive the annual fee yet I cannot link it to my Paypal account.. So for in-stores ko lang magamit or other online sites na direct but not with paypal.

^ Actually matagal nang nakasave ang details sa account, until that time na maraming nagko-complain about hacked paypal accounts. Yung linked debit/credit card, pwedeng kunin pa ng hacker ang amount - kaya mauubos lang ang credit limit or bank account savings sa hacker na yun.

^ah oo sis kaya dapat sa secured pc/laptop ka lang naga-access ng Paypal account kaya nung una gamit ko EON lang kasi dito deposit mo lang exact amount ok na eh pero this past year wala naman akong naging problem. Been using it when im in UK, PH, and DXB..

pwede naman yung dating CC na gamit mo link mo tapos kapag nabili mo na remove na.. automatic nanaman ang add sa Paypal e.. (as far as I know, kaka-add ko lang ng isang CC)

I suggest to only open/access your paypal accounts on the same computer/laptop lang because if it detects another IP, they're very critical and could assume that your account is being hacked.

Just FYI, to clarify things... it's partly true that the IP address doesn't have to do with the suspension of accounts.

Even if you use the same laptop or computer the IP address that you use changes. Yung IP address na gamit mo sa bahay at IP address na gamit mo pag dinala mo ang laptop/tablet sa coffee shop, internet cafe and other places ay magkaiba.

Kahit nasa bahay ka pa, nag-iiba-iba rin ang IP address mo. Mapapansin mo yan kung naka turn off ang router/computer nang medyo matagal (few hours to few days). Pagka-online, iba na naman ang issue na IP address sa iyo.

You can further check with speedtest.net... makikita doon ang issued IP address sa iyo at the moment. Sa PLDT, mukhang 8 hours na kailangang nakaoff ang router or computer bago ka mabigyan ng bagong IP address. Sa Smartbro at Globe tattoo (USBs), twing mag-o-online, iba na agad ang IP address.

Ang nabibigyan lang ng fixed IP addresses ay mga businesses - usually yung mga may malalaking IT infrastractures. Otherwise, automatic lang at paiba-iba ang IP address ng computers sa mga residential subscribers tuwing mag-o-online.

However,

ang nakakatakot ay kung saang country mo inaaccess ang Paypal account. May mga specific group of IP addresses na assigned sa mga countries, kaya mas prone (and there are stories around in Google) na i-suspend ang account kung ang Philippines Paypal account ay inaccess sa ibang country, say sa US, or if you have a UK Paypal account tapos inaaccess sa Pinas. (Pero di nga glacy_rein? Di nasususpend Paypal account mo kahit i-access mo ito sa ibang bansa?)

Pero yun lang, sa hinaba-haba ng explanation ko, I still recommend using your own computer for checking Paypal for the reason na baka mamaya may malware sa ibang computer na kayang magnakaw ng financial accounts.

^i actually opened a separate UK paypal account for my UK, USA, PH transactions then when I went home I used my PH account naman for my UK, USA, JP transactions then dito sa DXB din, hindi suspended PH account ko kahit na PH or DXB transactions. (using my own mac on all locations)

pero dati nako may PH account hindi ko sya nagamit sa UK kase idadagdag ko dapat yung debit card ko from UK bank kaso hindi ko mapalitan ang address line na UK base (they have different type) so nag-open ako ng bago.

bottomline never ako nagka-problem sa paypal except sa pagpapalit ng address. (in which talagang dapat same sa card na gagamitin)

^hidden fees? why sis may lumalabas ba sa statement mo?? wala naman kasing charges as far as i know (cc's to ah)

im planning kasi to set up paypal for my debit card ..pero parang nagdadalawang isip ako kasi baka may fee if inactive yung account or what lol
