UAE Job Hunting
« on: June 14, 2013, 11:09:15 am »
Hi mga sis,

Anyone of you na nagtourist visa to Abu Dhabi/ Dubai then nakahanap ng work? Can you share your experiences?

Best time to go?
In demand jobs?
Immigration horror stories?
Budget?

Thank you :)

Unless:
1. May immediate family kayo dito na willing to help you during the time na naghahanap kayo ng work.  May place sya na pede kayo tumira, and mas maganda if marami na sya kakilala na pwedeng pasahan ng resume mo o irefer ka.

Saka it would be easier for you to go to places kase familiar ka na dito.

Now regarding sa questions mo...

Best time to go? - for me basta wag summer kase mahirap maglakad lakad kapag summer lalo na if first time mo mag-summer dito maloloka ka sa init.

In demand jobs? - maraming hotels dito kaya marami ring jobs for waiter, waitress, housekeeping, etc.

Not sure.. our other sis here may be able to help you on the exact amount.  Pero take note up to one month extension na lang ngayon ata.
accommodation - if hindi ka titira sa kamag-anak mo, prepare for 800AED/month for bedspace. Not sure if hihingan ka ng advance or deposit. but yan ata ang presyo ng bedspacer around Karama ngayon.
pocket money for food and transportation - just to be on the safe side prepare 1000AED or if kaya mo 2000AED.  yan ay kung sarili mo lahat ng gastusin.

Malakas loob ko kase galing sila sa UK so walang Immigration Horror story, at may budget talaga sila to look for a job, at may maganda silang work experience. Saka minsan dahil kulang sa time (2months) to look for job the tendency is grab mo na lang kahit anong available basta may work lang.  Pero happy naman sila ngayon.

Hi sis. Thank you so much sa pagsagot.. Very informative and setting the right expectations.

This is still my plan B if all else fail.

^No.  I myself applied abroad via agency. I don't have experience abroad, and I don't even have a solid working experience dyan sa Pinas.

At that time (2004) the company here in Dubai went to Pinas to conduct a mass interview with several agencies na located near Roxas Blvd. Later on when we were here na sa Dubai, we found out that dapat wala na pala placement fee coz our employer actually paid that to the agency... ayun tuloy blacklisted na yung agency na yun.

If you want to go here, one reliable agency I know is Chesams na located sa Makati.  Walang placement fee yan, I think di kalakihan ang gagastusin ninyo.  ang malaki lang naman kase before yung placement fee which is equivalent to your one month salary.  Processing fee ata around 5k lang dati, tapos add mo pa yng medical check up fee.

Sis viDai09 get further details of the salary and benefits.

1. Know how much yung salary matatanggap mo. If yung company walang accommodation+transpo provided, ask kung ano exactly ang basic pay.  Minsan kase yung lump sum na binibigay nila andun na yung allowance mo.  Meaning kelangan mo pa magbawas ng upa, transpo, food, etc. from your salary.  Then compute compute if di ka kukulangin sa budget.
2. May medical card ba na ibibigay sa yo?  This is a must, kase I know that there are companies na walang medical card provided sa tauhan nila.  Ang mahal magkasakit dito.  Consultation pa lang umaabot na ng 300AED.
3. May accommodation ba na provided ang company.  If yes, mag isa ka lang ba sa kwarto or sharing? if sharing, ilan kayo sa kwarto.  (this is just for you to prepare yourself sa sitwasyon na daratnan mo dito)
4. May transportation ba na provided ang company?
5. After two years contract, makakapagrenew ka ba? if ayaw mo magrenew, ano ang release procedure nila?  Will they give you a one month extension for your visa after ng end contract (this is good kase if you can use this time to find another job)
6. Yung air ticket, cash ba yan o ticket? (old company ko use to book for our flights, present company ko gives us a lump sum based on the peak economy price of Emirates Airlines)
7. Ilan ang Vacation Leave? baka naman kase every six months uwi mo tapos tig 2weeks lang, bitin yun for me!

Before I came here, yan halos ang tinanong ko sa agency.  Except dun sa release procedure at medical card, di ko sya natanong but fortunately provided naman ang medical card sa amin nung old company ko.

That's a first na narinig ko yang 2yrs contract with every six months ang uwi sa Pinas.  Most company kase would ensure that you at least finish a year before they allow you to go for vacation. And most of them would only give a ticket every 2 yrs.

And sis ano yung 50k na pamasahe? does that mean you are going here for a visit visa?  Right now ata may mas mura pa dyan na pamasahe kase 50k is 4k AED na... or baka naman yang 50k is pamasahe plus visit visa fee?

Once sure ka na sa details and you think ok sya...grab mo na yang opportunity atleast meron ka na daratnang work here.

^Sis princeza08 regarding dun sa Chesams I know they have a website you can check that out, google mo lang chesams recruitment along Makati.  My ex-officemate used to work in their Dubai-based office, pero ngayon daw ata sa Pinas na lang office nila.

Ako I know I got very lucky kase no experience and first time ko yun mag-apply.  So siguro meant to be talaga.

For the time being, iready mo na rin sarili mo sa pagka-homesick.

thank you sis :) dapat talaga maging segurista tayo lalo na pag first time.

I think kargo mo ang tirahan, transpo, etc.

If ok lang sis, PM me the company's name

Wait ask ko yung friend ko who recently had the same situation regarding sa ticket fare.

Basta makalusot sa Immigration, you are ok na.  And siguro kaya may 50k kase visit visa - pamasahe + visit visa fee.
