What's a good bank to open an account with?

Did you sign the form before the deadline that makes AFPSLAI give you your "dividends"/interest on the 25th of the month after each quarter? If you did not (deadline was sometime 1st Quarter  2014, my accountant Fed-exed me the form which I also Fed-exed back) --  you can get hold of your interest only once a year (Jan 25). 

Parang hindi OT:  yes, AFPSLAI is a good bank to maintain an account with, due to the higher interest earnings ("dividends").   
However,  it is not a bank conducive to supporting your regular spending.  It is a bank for  medium-term saving.

Is Security Bank ok?  I'm planning to transfer one of my BPI accounts to Security Bank kasi mas convenient sa akin yung location.  Mahaba din nilalakad ko to BPI just to deposit tapos ang haba pa lagi ng pila.  Security Bank recently opened at the ground floor of our condo so mas convenient for me mag-deposit, hindi ako tatamarin   Meron din AUB here, but mas preferred ko Security Bank.  Or mas ok AUB?  Help

My experience with Security Bank hasn't been so good.  Ewan ko kung pangit lang yung branch where I opened ha. I recently opened a savings account na 'gold' dapat yung status. Hanggang ngayon hindi pa rin ako nabibigyan ng card, which is supposed to entitle me to a priority lane (walang pila) and discounts sa restos, stores, etc. It's been almost 2 months na yata. Ang dahilan nung branch, wala daw delivery ng card. Parang ang labo.

Was planning to add more money to that account to reach 'platinum' pa naman -- kasi promising yung offers nila for platinum savers. Pero nawawalan nako ng gana.

Oo nga. I am thinking of simplifying personal accounts to 2 banks. I am thinking PS Bank and Security Bank.

May ibang feedback ba about Security Bank? I am happy so far with PS Bank.

BPI

Most common accounts meron ako sa BPI. Their online and app banking features are so convenient.

Citibank - No transaction charge when you use other banks' atm. I can always choose to withdraw from any atm that has no queue

BPI - No interbranch charges; Convenience of fund transfer to anyone via their mobile app

BDO - Can do banking even on weekends

^ leihin, I want Citibank too pero 100,000 ba talaga ang opening? Sayang managers lang yung may savings na payroll account sa company ko ngayon.

Security Bank is promising kasi they have what they call an All Access Account (savings, checking account plus a Masterbank debit card).

I like how both Eastwest Bank and Security Bank are very agressive in acquiring more clients. Dumarami ang branches nila and maganda pareho ang rebranding/redesign nila.

I'm opening an account with BPI because of proximity. Mas gusto ko ipark agad yung pera ko sa account after withdrawing my pay.

I would've gone with BDO but that time when the whole banking system went offline and they had nothing to say about it, nakababawas ng tiwala sa bank...

Yup, ok sa security bank.  They have this gold card, you just have to maintain 100K then exempted ka na sa maintaining balance and ATM withdrawal fees at other banks. May priority lane pa so no need to line-up. 

I also have accounts at BPI and BDO pero laging mahaba pila kaya mas ok ako sa security bank.

i have bpi , landbank at unionbank na may kanya kanyang purposes kaya ko ni open.

Recently nag open ako sa psbank pang link ko sa prepaid mastercard . Ang binigay sa akin na atm e yung debit mastercard na antagal pang ma expire.. ang nilagay sa card ay until 2025 pa. 2k yung maintaining balance at na check ko rin na every month ang crediting ng interest nila..

I will try BDO for my savings account. Turn off lang sa akin ang haba ng pila for deposit, at may payment fee pag province ka magdeposit sa ibang account..

Agree on the long lines. there are times na 1 to 2 tellers lang ang nagaasikaso 

but other than that, BDO is a recommend bank to open an acct with

pwede yan. tawag dyan telegraphic/wire transfer, thats from your bank abroad to any phil based bank.  just ask for this facility.

ang alam ko si pnb, yan ang pinagmamalaki nila pero better ask those banks that are convenient to you. bdo, madaming branches. you can start with them.

okay na -- inayos na nung bank, gold member na ako, so wag na natin i-name yung branch. bagong bukas sila nung nag-open ako ng account, so baka naman medyo nalito lang.

bale they require a total relationship balance of 500k for gold, 1.5million for platinum.

as a gold member you get the 'enjoy' card. haven't tried it pero mukhang promising:

so for now, i am keeping some money sa security kahit medyp pangit yung unang experience ko. hoping it will get better.

Mostly all commercial/uni bank are good for opening an account. best practice is to save in the same bank your ATM, savings and check account in the same bank so it is easy to transact like transfering funds from or to other bank accounts. This banks have online portals where you will have the comfort of transacting business with your bank at the comfort of your home or wherever you are anytime.

If BPI, you have to enroll the accounts.

I figured this out.

If you want to transfer to account you don't own, you need to use the BPI Mobile app. I already enrolled my account.

I have no idea why they don't have it for the website.
