What's a good bank to open an account with?
« on: June 11, 2013, 11:49:48 am »
I already have a bdo account.. Both passbook and savings. Nagapply din ako for easy savers account with bpi..

I want two more sana.. Im thinking of metrobank or eastwest?

Reason for doing this is for convenience lalo na kapag offline ang bank and para maparte parte ko savings ko.. This way hindi ko siya magastos..

Di kaya mas hassle at inconvenient kasi you need to deposit funds sa isa pang bangko? As in fall in line sa loob just to fund that third account?

Sa dami ng BDO at BPI ATMs I think nasolve na ang convenience mo of withdrawing funds.

Have you ever considered time deposits? UITFs? These products prevent you from spending money.

Mayroon kasi akong BDO, BPI at Metrobank.

I don't advise keeping multiple accounts to have control over savings.  Mind that the minimum balances you have to maintain for keeping the accounts mean less interest. Plus, since  your sums are scattered into several minimized accounts -- vs 1 significant account, you don't get better rates.
If your concern is slf-control vis-a-vis your savings, you can gain better committing to a time deposit/SDA placement.

It is preferable that, given only unibanks are considered, convenience dictates your choice.

just had to agree with this... ano ba ang dahilan kung bakit kaylangan mo laging mag-withdraw ng money from ATM? pay bills? just do it online

pay for your groceries? just swipe your ATM at the cashier

cash for commuting and small purchase on sari-sari store or canteen, keep a cash envelope where you'll put your weekly allowance

leave the envelope at home and just bring your allowance with you every day.

getting a checking account is also helpful in some ways.  like paying for monthly amortization that are not available thru auto-debits

i'm actually guilty of having several accounts at several banks (BPI, BDO, Metrobank, Landbank & Unionbank), but those are for business kaya marami

Personally, it's only BPI & BDO for me.  Hubby has the Metrobank account under his name.

i'm actually guilty of having several accounts at several banks (BPI, BDO, Metrobank, Landbank & Unionbank), but those are for business kaya marami

Ako rin maraming accounts sa iba-ibang bangko. Pareho tayo ng mga bangko, haha.

I tried eliminating them para concentrated lang ako sa 2 to 3 banks, pero di pwedeng bawasan eh for several reasons.

Yung Landbank ginagamit ko to receive PAGIBIG loans.

Unionbank simply exists for Paypal. Wala kasi silang charge sa Paypal withdrawals as compared sa ibang banks. If only na tatanggalin lang ng BDO o BPI yung Paypal fees nila (na hindi mura) eh, i-gi-give up ko na talaga itong account na ito.

2 lang ang bank ko. BDO at BPI. I also use the BDO Online to transfer funds to my mother's account. BPI naman is very convenient for me because of BPI Express Online. I make time deposits, monitor my balance, etc. using only the internet. Ayoko ng masyadong maraming banks dahil baka malito ako. haha.

I opted to maintain na lang three banks.. I opened a bpi maxi savers for savings tsaka for paying bills tapos yung eastwest basic savings account na 100 lang ang maintaining balance.. Lipat ko dito yung mga panggastos ko like food and transpo kasi may charge bawat deposit sa cash card and kapag winithdraw ko naman lahat hindi ko macontrol sarili ko lol..

So ayan yung reasons ko.. Btw meron din ako unionbank pero for paypal ko hindi ko to nilalagyan ng laman

Hi I'm planning to open an account din... I only have my metrobank atm and want a savings account. How about sa BDO or BPI?

Another question, is the maintaining balance locked - you can't spend it, or is there penalty lang if you do? And once you open the account, does the maintaining balance count as your savings or not? Example if the bal is 1000, and you add a deposit of 500, does your savings total to 1500 or 500 lang? Sorry first timer here. Thanks! :D

BPI and BDO lang din ako may account. They have online banking kaya super convenient for me.  :)

Is Security Bank ok?  I'm planning to transfer one of my BPI accounts to Security Bank kasi mas convenient sa akin yung location.  Mahaba din nilalakad ko to BPI just to deposit tapos ang haba pa lagi ng pila.  Security Bank recently opened at the ground floor of our condo so mas convenient for me mag-deposit, hindi ako tatamarin ;D  Meron din AUB here, but mas preferred ko Security Bank.  Or mas ok AUB?  Help :(

I have 2 savings account in BDO. Just recently i opened one with BPI. The only thing that i considered was the accessibility of those accounts.

I was supposed to open a passbook account with BDO. When you have a passbook account daw kasi, mas mamomonitor mo yung pasok at labas ng pera and since you have to withdraw over the counter, tatamadin ka galawin siya. But in my case, i realize that it's just a matter of discipline. You have to be responsible on your own accounts. And feeling ko kasi, with passbook, pag tinignan ko siya and for example malaki ma yung andoon, feeling ko magiisip ako ng kung [textspeak!] anong gastos because of my savings. Pag konti naman, feeling ko ma ffrustrate ako to work and work para dumami yun laman. Since both have online banking naman, namomonitor ko pa din naman. And everytime i plan to withdraw for my expenses, i check my balance muna siyempre then withdraw what i only need. And just in case i ran out of cash, debit card naman sila lahat though i make sure na hindi ko naaabuse yung debit capacity niya. Kaya nga never ako kumiha ng CC to avoid swiping galore, bakit ko naman gagawin sa debit card? Discipline pa din.

I will try BDO for my savings account. Turn off lang sa akin ang haba ng pila for deposit, at may payment fee pag province ka magdeposit sa ibang account..
