there's a healthy type of envy and a bad type of envy...

healthy in a way na, you will work harder and be better to achieve the same things or the things that you want.

there's the bad enby, where you would belittle yourself, be depressed, spread lies or damaging stories about your friends or actually put yourself in a very bad debt just to up your friends

ganoon talaga ehh... usually ang mga friends natin sa FB ay mga childhood friends or former classmates.  nagkakataon na iyong class clown before ay nasa ibang bansa na ngayon with a beautiful wife, a grand house and what not

parang ma-feel mo, bakit sila nandoon na.  ako nandito pa rin.  as our sisters here said, we don't know the story behind the pictures.

ako, click close agad kapag nagsisimula na akong mag-visit ng wall ng iba... alam ko sasama lang ang loob ko, kasi feeling ko wala akong achievement compared to them

di ko lang ma-close talaga ang FB kasi it's a form of photo album for hubby... nasa malayo sya at sa FB nya lang nakikita ang pix ng mga kids... so i need to keep that FB

Thanks for this thread. I actually thought it was just me. Before FB era, I used to be okay naman but people started posting pictures of out-of-town trips especially with family and yes, I am envious. I miss my family and I wish we can have bonggang summer vacations as well.

I am also in the process of avoiding FB and just focus on maintaining a constant communication with my parents and in working hard so my parents can have a relaxed and happy life after retirement.

bihira na lang talaga ako magbukas ng fb and I am happy to say na I feel better naman, hindi ko na masyado napi-feel ang inggit :)

Hi! parehas tayo. I know i've responded in this thread na pero...

Like ngayong summer, hindi naman talaga kami mahilig lumabas ng family ko, so bonding lang sa house and bum around and minsan pumunta sa family or friends na malapit. Pero sa FB, puro vacay galore. minsan, i feel like a loser. And besides, I am in grad school so i prioritize studying.

Normal lang minsan ang mainggit pero if this brings you sadness and unhealthy thoughts of course ibang usapan na. Ako  inggit but seldom  naiisip ko na I can do better than them. I can afford such luxury but why I'm not into it? The answer is, I don't need it, hindi ako mahilig sa mga bagay na ganun. Sometimes naman indulge din but I'm not bragging to much sa FB then ayaw din ng hubby ko pasikat.

i used to avoid fb rin para maiwasan ang envy. but then, di naman "na-cure" ang root cause pag iniwasan, andun pa rin. kindly read the poem desiderata, it enlightened me. plus have a heart that is grateful. minsan mahirap, but thank God for every little things and you'll get there.

FB is really not a good gauge of figuring out who among the people you know is truly successful,  truly beautiful, truly happy. I see it more as kung sino na lang ang may pinaka-free time at kung sino yung mahilig magconnect with other people, LOL.

Tsaka yung sobrang daming foodie/vacation pics (I'm talking about 200 pics upwards here), hindi ba sila naubusan ng time sa vacation nila at mukhang puro picture-taking na lang ginawa? Sorry if I offended anyone here, just my thought.

(Bihira naman ako atakihin ng FB envy. I'm more concerned about how people are oversharing nowadays. I mean, sigurado ka ba na you wanna share your girls' night out/getting wasted pics with all of your 800 friends? Upload it on the internet na ang dali na i-copy-paste? I mean, I know okay lang sa ibang tao, but I'm sure that some of them forget that there are near-total strangers on their list who now know more about them than a casual acquaintance should!)

Facebook is a stage. A lot that goes on there is for show. Kaya ako I rarely open my FB feed, and the only reason it's still active is because of Candy Crush. LOLs.

Go out! Have fun! Stop checking your feeds :D

does this happen to you? as you browse through updates like your favorite shop is about to go on sale... someone got a new dog... oh, a yummy food post... someone posted a funny status... not another selfie... ah great, an inspirational picture quote... tapos ISANG NAKAKAINGGIT NA POST! EXIT FB!

...will not check fb for the next 3 days.  :P

hahaha ako naman my linkedin envy. im having a career rut right now and there are times when i check in on other people's job hisotry and current psoition and pit them with what i had.

i check my friends' (and sometimes other people's) work history and compare my age and my position with them. most of the time i feel sad and a failure afterwards because i wsnt able to take care of my career as well as others (even those younger than me)

as for Facebook envy, yes i was envious of people getting married, having babies and having fab vacations. pero i try to see what i am most envious of and analyze what i
am envious about,

haha exactly [textspeak!]'s happened to me sis angelzero, a lot of times pa, to the   point na gusto ko na ideactivate fb ko pero I didn't and couldn't for the famous reason (living overseas and want to stay in touch with family and friends)... what I do now is I seldom visit fb and hide/unsubscribe people who make me feel envious

yung iba kasi i think they want to project a perfect life for others to be amused and not think of them as losers. others naman i think they use FB as an outlet of their feelings na hindi nila kayang ilabas in person.

personally, never akong nainggit sa mga friends ko sa FB. i think kasi i'm satisfied with my life kaya i don't feel that kahit naman may problema rin ako, i just don't feel envious of them  :)

Same here sis, also busy in grad school. I was able to spend a summer vacation naman with my boyfriend and friends but I super envy those na kasama ang family kasi lalayo namin. Looking forward to a bonggang vacation na complete ang family. :)

Thank you for this thread..

I usually post pictures with my friends, relatives, family and bf at selfies photos.. Other than that wala na.

At pinakaimportante may peace of mind ako..  Blessed for having a happy family, supportive partner, generous siblings, loyal friends.. Blessed daahil nabibili ko lahat ng gusto ko at nakakain 3x-5x  a day.  Blessed dahil wala akong utang sa ibang tao.. :)

If naiingit ka sa facebook friends mo then i think you should take a good hard look at your life. Expensive gadgets? Eating out in expensive restaurants? Going on expensive trips? So what? If you do those stuff will it make you rich? People will still know hindi ka mayaman so why bother? Now thats what i call a loser. An expensive gadget is no match for good memories among friends. Yang iphone 5 na hawak mo 3 years from now wala na value but the fun times with your love ones will only become more precious as time passes. Vacations? With all the promo fares nowadays going abroad is very easy na and sobrang daming option. With enough planning this is possible nowadays as long as you have a job. Count your blessings nalang and be thankful for what you have...there is so much more to life than those material things.  :D

I'm so glad I found this topic. I thought ako lang din ang nakakaramdam ng ganito everytime I open my fb account Thank you sissies for sharing how you overcome your insecurities and dealing with the negative vibes everytime inaatake kayo ng envy with your facebook friends.

I find it helpful for not logging in my fb account since I will be upset lang due to my frustrations with other people's achievement. But we must do the right thing and we must not let our negative attitude lead us to our life. God is the architect in our life so whatever this life's journey bring, we must trust Him no matter how good or worse our endeavor might be. Count your blessings so we'll know how rich we are even not in material things.
