The Hungry Hound at BGC

Most of the dishes we had for dinner are calorie-laden and not exactly healthy. ;)

Duck fat fries - yummy!  crunchy yung fries, not too salty and most of all, not oily.

Smoked baconsilog with brown rice - even with the brown rice, this is a sinful dish.  But I couldn't resist.  I like this more than Poco Deli's bacon slab.

Pennette (mini-penne) with meatball and roasted tomato ragu - I like the tomato sauce, ang fresh ng taste.  The meatball itself is just okay, mas winner ang sauce.

Asian fish and watermelon salad - pang-counter ng fatty food. :)  The romaine lettuce, watermelon and mango are very fresh and ang sarap ng tangy dressing niya.  The fish is perfectly cooked and again, not oily.

Luna at BGC

The place reminds me of Central Perk sa Friends na show.  :)

Brewed coffee - very strong, just the way I like it
Pili pecan pie cup - perfect with coffee but something I will not order again
Calamansi lime pie cup - okay din ito but the calamansi taste is a bit too tart for my liking

Sana mas marami pang choices for dessert. Hindi ako masyadong happy sa dessert choices.

Mad Mark's in Kapitolyo. Serving is huge for its price, usually katumbas nito sa mga resto is 500++. May 2 side dishes pa. And the ice cream (Half Baked Madagascar & Javan chocolate) are  yummmm! =)

71 Gramercy - such a good discovery. The formal dining area is the perfect date place. Cozy interiors and a great view of the metro (what else can you expect if you're in the tallest building in the Philippines). If you can get a reservation, ask for a booth by the window. Price-wise, surprisingly it was not that expensive. For the food we ordered below plus a drink for me and the hubby, we spent about php 2.3k:

Potato Leek Soup - smooth tasting. Quite surprised with the generous lump of crab that was served with it.

Maryland Crabcakes - very fresh! But I still prefer the Crab cakes from M Café

Mushroom Risotto with Truffle Oil - perfectly cooked. Not too dry and not too creamy.

Chicken Marsala - generous serving. Since my husband had a heavy merienda before dinner, we ended up sharing this and the risotto. Chicken is flavorful, tender and not at all dry. Halfway through my slice, I discovered that the chicken was not thoroughly cooked. The manager was very apologetic. They gave us a new full serving plus a complimentary order of cheesecake.

Good food, good place and good service. Definitely coming back and will try their steaks and ribs

Recovery Food - food is so-so. Nothing impressive at all that my husband were surprised with the line and the reviews about the food. I had their tapa and personally I prefer the ones from Rufu's , Gram's Diner and even the lowly Tapa King. My husband's curry is good daw but forgettable. Though prices are not expensive, for the quality of the food namamahalan ako.

Green Pastures

I've wanted to try Green Pastures for the longest time because of the raves from people. Lagi Lang mahaba ang line. Attempted once but after waiting for almost 90mins we decided to eat at Corazon. So when my friend and I decided to meet up for an early lunch, I recommended this. We ordered the following:

Pinoy Egg - Longanisa-encrusted half-cooked duck egg served with salad. Yummy. Serving is quite small but it was very filling.

Tequila Sloppy Joe (can't remember the exact name) - their yummy take on salpicao. The beef was tender and I like the spicy-kick of the sauce.

My friend liked the sliders she ordered. The serving was generous that she did not finish it.

Rant: when I came home, I started having diarrhea. I thought it is because of the 2 glasses of their Kalamansi Juice (btw which they said was bottomless but they charged me for the refill). Turns out my friend had diarrhea too. The only items we shared were the Pinoy Egg and the fries that came with her burgers. It's either any of those two or tummies are not used to organic food.

I rather stick with Chef Robby Goco's Cyma.

Project Pie at Eastwood

The pizza is awesome!  Love love the crust and the variety of toppings to choose from.

Bellini's at Marikina

What happened to the Bellini's I used to love?  Husband and I dined here and we spent 2.3k for the following:

Pasta Vongole - had 3 tiny pieces of clams; hindi masarap kahit na fresh ang pasta
Spinach ravioli - I give it an S (satisfactory) rating.  I noticed that instead of truffle oil, what was drizzled was olive oil.
Four-cheese pizza - may halong Kraft cheese.  Ugh!
Pinot grigio - the saving grace of the meal.  Kaya rin umabot ng more than 2k ang meal.

Prices are not cheap, especially considering its location.  Bellini's at Cubao Expo used to have really yummy and authentic Italian food.

I am starting to think that the raves about Marikina restaurants are just that: raves.  So far, yung mga kinainan namin na supposedly famous restos in Marikina may palpak in one way or the other.

Patio Vera in Marikina

Better than Rustic Mornings in terms of ambience and decor (or maybe just becus I haven't been to Isabel Garden at night yet)

Food prices are affordable but the servings are hefty and taste good too. We ordered seafood pasta and steak ala pobre. The pasta was filled with clams, oysters, shrimps, and squid; hinde lugi at all. The steak was tender and thick; it was bigger than the 6oz steak I'd usually order in Outback. For dessert, we ordered almond sans rival and coffee (single serving still god for two-- it was served in a coffee press). We paid 1400 in total (including refillable iced tea, coke in can, and 2 garlic rice).

Medyo matagal na 'to but first time namin natry - sambo kojin.  Service was perfect.  As in sobrang maasikaso waiters - they will volunteer to get food for you and suggest food that are good.  Food was ok lang.  I didn't like the maki and sashimi wasn't so fresh.  The tempura was ok, the shrimp na tinimplahan ng waiter was quite good also.  The meat, ok naman though yung iba medyo matabang.  But over-all, ok naman.  Super busog kami and i find it sulit for 589.00 since marami din choices :). Marami rin sila promo for bday celebrants, grads, etc.

Poco Deli at Kapitolyo. We ordered Truffle Pasta, Bacon Slab, German Sausage Sampler and Italian Sausage and Cheese Pizza. It is all worth for the prize. Sarap lahat!  Try also their blackout chocolate cake and carrot cake. Yummy!

Kettle, Shangri-La East Wing - my husband and I loved this restaurant, which is funny because we don't like Tender Bob's at all and they have the same owner. We ordered the oven roasted squash soup, smoked salmon salad, US angus short ribs and Australian lamb. The squash soup had the right kind of nuttiness, the salad had a really good dill ranch dressing, and my short ribs were so tender, with just the right amount of chipotle bbq sauce. My husband loved his lamb too, and the truffle brown rice was a winner. Will definitely go back!

Sunshine Kitchen - we got this voucher from Deal Grocer for their weekend brunch. Really yummy dishes, but the servings were so small! Like I could have eaten the whole thing that they served for me and my husband by myself. That small. So just a tip: don't get the vouchers!
