Choi Palace in Eastwood City Mall

- I was so excited to eat here pa naman sana cus I've read a lot of good reviews kaya super na-disappoint ako. We ordered yang chow fried rice, fried squid in salt and pepper, wonton noodles, and shark's fin siomai. Masarap naman yung wonton noodles and fried rice but their fried squid, grabe ah, hiyang hiya naman ako sa laki ng breading and sa liit ng squid sa loob. I've had this dish in other chinese restos like Hap Chan and King Bee and theirs were really good, siksik sa laman and madame servings. But yung sa Choi Palace, super boooo! Yung breading pati tasted so cheap, parang sa tabi-tabi lang. No justice for 360/serving.

Plus, sayang lang ang ganda ng interiors nila kung pinapabayaan nila ang wait staff nila na matulog sa mga chairs ng tables! While there were customers around!!! Buti sana kung tago, eh kaso kitang-kita namin silang nakahilata from where we were seated eh samantalang ang lapit lang ng table namin sa entrance.

Oh well, lesson learned. At least lang na-satisfy na din yung curiosity ko.

Pho24 along libis - the fresh spring roll was good but the pho was so so lang. cheaper than pho hoa pero bland talaga yung broth.


Mexicali - rediscovered the wet steak burrito. so filling and yummy!

beef brocolli - this i love! sobrang lambot nung beef. nagustuhan din sya ng 13 month old ko.

fried spareribs, salt and pepper - love din namin, yun lang ang lalaki ng gayat.

sweet and sour fish fillet - ok naman kaya lang, may breading yung fish. di ko alam kung bakit.

black gulaman with lychees - sarap.

mixed fruits - this i love! swak sa tag-init! masarap yung fruits na kasama (mango, watermelon, pineapple). also with almond jelly, sago and ice.

service was fast.

Just tried Legend of India along Jupiter. Winner ang Indian food. We've tried so many Indian restos na, and this is one of our new faves. We tried the Chicken Biryani and Pahktooni and I tried their mango with yogurt shake. Masarap lahat.

Spices at Peninsula Manila

Tom yum goong - very refreshing and authentic; I like the fact that there were 4 big and fat prawns
Crispy catfish salad - I love the balance of flavors in this salad; my favorite
Mixed satay - surprisingly, I liked the lamb satay (I am not fond of lamb); the sauce was on the sweet side though
Phad Thai - very good, hindi tipid sa prawns, my husband really enjoyed this dish

Napadami kami ng kain ng jasmine rice.

This will be our go-to restaurant if we are craving Thai food because I get a 50% discount on food for being a Pen Club member.   Our total bill shocked us kasi mas mura pa siya than our bill at another Thai resto na mall-based.

I've been an ofw for almost 8 years and nakakahiya mang aminin, i can say wala na akong alam masyado sa mga kung anong uso sa pinas, pati mga the place to be. Ang mga kinakainan namin yung mga alam ko lang dati, ako kasi tinatanong saan ko daw gusto. Share naman kayo sisses kasi i'll be back in pinas for 1 year maternity leave. Lagi ko naririnig yung kapitolyo. Marami daw kainan dun. San ba yun? Pati yung little tokyo ba yun? Thank you po!

Ate at pf chang's the other day and masarap yung shrimps with walnuts and yung beef with green onions pero yung chicken lettuce wraps and grilled salmon medyo salty

^^ haven't really tried a lot but i liked Charlie's Burgers in Kapitolyo.. and Poco Deli (but tried their Makati branch, not the one it Pasig). Little Tokyo is in Amorsolo St., beside Makati Cinema Square.

Where I tasted the BEST crispy pata ever - Comedor (House of JR's Crispy Pata) in San Jose, Batangas 

This is a small hole-in-the-wall place in San Jose, nagulat pa nga ako that there was a dining place in that area, which was beside an RCBC branch. We were all seriously impressed with their crispy pata! I was expecting the usual crispy pata, which I actually don't enjoy eating that much because of the too-meaty or maanta taste. I was very pleasantly surprised with THIS one, though.

That was the best crispy pata best I've had so far, beating the ones I've tasted in Manila restaurants. Skin was very crispy and somehow light, meat fork-tender and flavorful on its own, ligaments/fatty part not overwhelming. And walang lasang too-porky or maanta!

Service is really nice and attentive, what you'd expect and more from a small restaurant whose owner is hands-on with the operations (yes, we got to meet JR himself hehe). Bonus pa because background music isn't the usual medley of songs you'd hear currently on the radio - we were serenaded by a smooth flow of instrumental music featuring slow-rock music from the 80s and the 90s, while attacking the fantastic crispy pata I believe they started with paluto requests for crispy pata, dati puro orders lang. Then they opened the restaurant where their loyal clients can sit down and enjoy the food.

Worth the trip from Manila(and the calorie, and fat, intake hehe), IMHO. And very fortunate for us who are within the Batangas province.

When i went home last year july, dumiretso kami sa newport. Aside from addict na parents ko sa casino, gutom na gutom pa kami. We went to "Mercado" (?) for breakfast, nasa loob ng casino yun. Ang sarap grabe! Super bondat ako! Hindi ko alam kung namiss ko ang pagkain sa pinas or talagang napakasarap lang. Buffet pala yun. Matagal ng sinasabi sa min ng parents ko yun, hindi ko lang pinapansin kasi kala ko ginagawa lang nilang excuse yun para magcasino

my first time at adobo connection. ordered kuya's fried adobo. nothing much to rave about pero masarap ang leche flan nila!

1st time namin sa Krazy Garlik ATC branch. we ordered:

Fettuccine Oriente - ang sarap ng sauce nito! creamy!
Spaghetti Parmesan - this one is masarap din kaso nakakaumay. i also like the garlic bread na kasama sa pasta...
40 Kloves Chicken - we ordered 1 whole chicken. medyo payat ang chicken, haha pero masarap yung sauce si bf tsaka yung friend ko na guy napaorder ng kanin ang sarap daw sa kanin eh

thumbs up sa place and waiters. attentive sila all smiles at ang babait! like ko yung glass nila dito. and pati yung water. may lemon, cucumber and mint panalo!

baby back ribs - love! the meat and bbq was perfect.
grilled fish - love din!
onion rings - babalik-balikan sa sarap
fried oreo - love din!
coffee creme brulee - masarap!

service - ok naman. mababait yung mga crew. and oh! to those who have toddlers, may high chair sila. 

lahat masarap. sayang wala yung red velvet cheesecake.

Koi Restaurant at Thunderbird Hotel and Casino Binangonan
- I've read so many bad reviews about the restaurant here and I've also experienced it myself when we tried their dinner buffet back in 2009. I was so hesitant to eat here last Saturday but since it was a long drive from the hotel to the nearest resto in Antipolo, we decided to stay and try the resto again.

BAD IDEA.

We ordered yang chow fried rice and beef kare-kare (which boasted of having US beef angus). The yang chow fried rice was so bland, I felt like I was eating plain white rice especially if I closed my eyes. The beef kare-kare was the biggest disappointment. Priced at P450, you'd at least expect a little bit of goodness in there. The serving looked promising but that was where it all stopped. The bowl had so much creamy sauce in it but with very little of the actual food you were supposed to eat. The US angus beef they boasted of were so few and so little! Grabe ah, eh sa Kanin Club nga 4 na kame hinde pa namin naubos yung kare-kare sa dami! I didn't want to complain too much cus I knew it would upset my husband who wanted to try the resto but I stopped eating after a few spoonfuls. I couldnt take the blandness and the absence of beef in our food.

We shouldve taken that extra 30-minute bakc and forth trip to Hap Chan instead. I wouldve been a very happy girl. Oh well..

lugang cafe - we ate dinner last saturday. we love the Xiao long bao and brewed iced tea. the roast chicken so-so lang nasarapan ako sa balat but the meat is matigas. we also love the service, hindi na need manghingi ng water kusa nila nirerefill.

Mey Lin at Megamall Atrium

Cheap, fast and tasty naman ang food.  My family tried one of the packages. 

Squid with special sauce - loved the sauce pero ang nipis ng squid slices
Yang chow fried rice - sarap
Sautéed string beans with garlic - super malasa but the dish was a bit cold na when it was served
Steamed fish - so-so
Pata tim with cuapao - winner, sarap and tender ng meat, hindi pa gaano fatty, my sons loved the cuapao

Not a restaurant but more of a hole-in-the wall, Hassan Kebab and Steak at Katipunan (Blue Ridge)

My husband and I really enjoyed our chicken kebab and beef shawarma combo plates (rice for me, pita bread for him).  Super flavorful ng chicken kebab. It's better than Persia Grill.  Super duper cheap pa kaya babalik kami dito.

Walang a/c at walang ambience dito pero sarap ng food kaya pala maraming customers gabi-gabi.

^ mukhang masarap itry yung Hassan sis, may nabasa akong blog about that, iisa lang ba ang store nila?? ...pag chinese food sa MOA, yan ang gusto namen puntahan.. sarap den ng noodles nila, tapos hand-pulled pa yung noodles, diba nakikita naten sila gumagawa sa salamin, kaya kakaiba

^ Tanungin ko, sis, next time na magawi kami doon.  On the way kasi ang Hassan pag pauwi na kami.  Kahilera niya ang Countryside Barbecue na favorite daw ni JLC.  Laging maraming sasakyan na nakaparada sa banda roon kaya sinubukan namin ni hubby.

Next time, try ko yang hand-pulled noodles ng Mey Lin.  Nagustuhan din namin ang service kasi mababait sila sa mga bata.
