This is exactly the reason why I am trying to emphasize properly the dress code through my invitations. Gusto namin the moment they see the invites, alam na nila what to wear.

We didn't expect them na gastusan pa magpagawa ng gowns and all, especially kung di naman mayaman. May ilan kaming tita na nagslacks and fancy blouse na lang, and pinayagan naman namin.

May 2-3 guests kaming nagjeans. Sana man lang nageffort magdress up.

Pero it's not something that should ruin your mood on your wedding day, important naman present yung mga important na tao satin.  :)

On our wedding we made sure our friends and family followed our dress code... bawal ang jeans, polo shirts lalo na tshirts.. at bawal panget at dugyot hahaha... nagingat kami magimbita... successful naman!

^I specified that on our invites. No denim jeans and barongs. sa ladies I wrote no white dresses. I'd rather be specific kesa mainis ako hehe.

hayayay plus ones talaga are the #1 pasaways! ang plan ko nga ill talk to the plus ones personally to tell them the dress code.

mga sis, which is better ba to put on the invite:
a) clothes they should wear (long gown, suit and tie, etc)
b) clothes they shouldn't wear (jeans, tshirt, white dress, etc)

or both? baka kasi pag both overcrowded na yung invitiation with illustrations pa! lol

it's better to put positives on the invitations so go for what you want your guests to wear then just remind your guests about both what yhey can and cannot wear later on - maybe on your website or electronic save the date

^^sis, in our invites I specified talaga what I wanted. no reason for an excuse on their part to wear something unacceptable.. kaya nga I requested 6.25x9 invites para malagay ko every tiny detail.

Do people really show up to weddings in jeans? Grabe naman yan. I don't know anyone who would think that was acceptable. :/

Ah, i have the opposite concern.  I want the ladies to wear summer maxi dresses sana since ours is summer evening garden wedding and i want a relaxed vibe lang. I thought di na ko magkakaproblem.

But no, some guests want to wear long gown and heels! Huwat! I'm making life easier and they want it complicated.  Payn.

Same tayo sis. Nakalagay na din dun na coats, ties, and sky high heels are discouraged. Sana lang sumunod sila. Hahaha. Haha.

Yung sa wedding ng friend ko, nakaspecify sa invite nila na walang magsusuot ng black (since suppliers are in black) and white (since bride lang ang nakawhite). Infairness naman, sumunod naman ang mga tao.

Thank God I dont have any dress code issues anymore. Si h2b kasi wanted to wear a tux at first--- so meaning Coat and Tie ang men's dress code not Barong right?? But then h2b was insisting that he doesn't want to require everyone to wear a suit because some oldies might not attened because they don't have a suit. Haaaaaayyyy

Thank God my coordinator convinced him also during our meeting that he has to decide on the dress code and cannot have guests choose between suit and barong!!! And finally he got my point... that if not all your guests own a suit like the mga oldies, then specify Barong Tagalog for everyone. Heheh Thank goodness my coordinator put her foot down on this and I was able to convince H2B to wear a barong since mas bagay during summer since it is hot.

COMMENT LANG: hehe sorry ha, pero I know medyo uso these days for weddings to have  a theme. But personally I get annoyed when I receive invitations asking me to wear a certain color or theme. OK lang yung Black and White theme because everyone has a black gown naman somewhere. But gosh I got an invitation na may color swatch guide pa of neon colors!!! It's kinda rude when hosts are too demanding of their guests. HAHAHAH and I once got an invitation for a "WHIMSICAL FORMAL" attire. Uhmmmmm pwede ba, be specific. Hahaha btw NONE of her guests dressed up in a whimsical attire because ano yun mag dadala kami ng mga feather boa? Hay... some people talaga.

^Sometimes the guests would rather not attend than spend their time deciding what to wear lalo na if the attire requested is a bit complicated. I don't have issues though against the "thematic" dress codes.. basta ba achievable sya. What's a whimsical attire by the way? :)

Edited: I googled it na. Parang tinker-bell-ish attire ba? :)

For my guests, I requested formal. But specified sa ladies not to wear white. :) and for men not to wear barong and Denim trousers.

Chili, I totally agree with you. I think it's one thing to specify a level of formality, but it's another thing entirely to ask everyone to conform to a specific colour palette/theme/length/fabric etc.

I remember a friend of mine na kinasal a few years back, 80s ang theme nila. They asked the guests to dress like the 80s, encouraged pa nila na may gayahin kang 80s icon (e.g. madonna, cyndi lauper). A friend sure did follow specifically, eh most of us hindi nag dress up. Nung nagpaparty na, sabi nya "i look like a freak here" kase sya lang ang naka 80s attire.

How about length of dress? Nilagay ko sa website namin na not to wear yun mini skirts and above the knee dresses.
