I lodged my application at the Italian embassy last 26 September and was asked to submit additional
documents.

sis, were you required to leave your passport with them while waiting for your visa approval? Our next trip will be mainly in Italy and I'll be applying for hubby's visa directly with the embassy pero di namin pwede iwan passport ni hubby because he needs it for work.

Yay!! I will have my interview in Norwegian/Danish Embassy on Friday. I am extremely nervous and anxious now.

Any tips on the possible questions the consul might ask? What are the things that I should remember and important documents I shouldn't miss?

Mga sis, I just want to know if required ba talaga ang income tax return? I'll be travelling with my boyfriend who holds a German passport I have my bank statement and everything except for the ITR. Necessary ba talaga tax records? We're going to Germany and hopefully will stay for a month since they have a house there.

mama_squeek, yes its mandatory for applicants to leave the passport during the visa application. Parang I saw a memo there somewhere pa nga na you cant pull out your passport in the middle of application. Doing so will mean pulling out our visa application too. But I dunno with the case of your hubby, baka naman the Italian embassy will understand kasi he's a pilot nga. Try to email them, hopefully they will reply.

^^ITR is not a must, as long as you can convince them that you have ties here in the Philippines.

Hello, pinetisyon ako ng asawa ko.  Hawak ko na ang nulla osta. 

1. May idea ba kayo ano ang additional requirements na maaring hanapin/hingin aside don sa nasa list?  (bank account, invitation) - EXTRA PICTURE
2. Required ba ang cover letter? - NO
3. Insurance, kelangan din ba? - NO
4. Meron option ba na ipa-mail ang passport sa halip na balikan sa embassy? - NO. I WAS ASKED TO COME BACK AFTER 7 BUSINESS DAYS.

@vain_kixie, yup I emailed them and surprisingly they promptly responded. They will allow hubby to get his passport back after lodging his application. Then ibabalik na lang ulit yung passport once the visa is ready for pick up. Parang set-up lang din with the French embassy pala.

Not sure though if this procedure is true to all applicants ha since I told the embassy that this was to be hubby's 4th schengen visa and I was holding a valid 2-year schengen visa issued after the expiry of my 3-year visa. They just required me to scan them copies of hubby's former schengen visas with stamps and my schengen visas too.

I will be setting an appointment for hubby in January since our travel date is in April (God willing!)

Hi,
first time to apply for Schengen visa.  We'll be applying in Italian embassy.  So 1 of the requirements is proof of approved vacation leave.  What proof did you show?  In our company leave application and approval are done online.  I checked earlier, wala naman print function yung system.  Meron lang is to download in Excel, so hindi na official looking.  or can I just show a printout of the screenshot of the VL approval from the system?

^ No sis, what you can do is write a letter stating something like "this is to certify that the application of (name) to take a leave of absence from (company) from (date of leave) until (date of return) has been approved. She will resume her position as (position) as soon as she returns."

Have it signed by your boss and then print with your company's letterhead. Something like that. Your HR may have a better template.

One more question.  Does it have to be signed by your immediate manager only?  Meron kasi ako nakita sample, 2 signatories pa - the immediate manager + the department head.

booked our visa appointment (Italian embassy) earlier.  ganun pala, separate appointments kahit married couple yung applying.  hindi pa magkasunod slots namin ni husband since medyo na late sa magbook - I'm at 10:30, while he's at 10:40.  there's 1 slot in between our appointments.  how does it go?  do I have to prepare 2 sets of documents?  are we going to be interviewed separately?

I remember when we applied for US visa, sabay kami na-interview.  I was expecting it will be the same since we are travelling together naman.

Since nagbago ang itinerary namin for Europe hubby had to apply at the French embassy again. He had his interview this morning at 8AM and exactong one hour lang yung process. Walang masyadong tanong sa kanya except for some Qs in the itinerary. Good thing I made sure hubby knew our IT since I made it and hindi ako kasama sa loob as I still have a valid schengen visa. After the interview he got his passport back and he'll be getting his visa on Wednesday (5 working days).

Hubby just got his visa from the French embassy. He was given another multiple/three year visa! 

Kinabahan daw sya nung una before ibigay yung passport nya kasi yung mga sinundan nya maraming binigyan ng letter of denial. Yikes! Some naman pinapa-report back after their trip. Looks like the French embassy are getting strict?

mga sis, when you presented your itinerary, included na ba pati confirmed bookings sa trains?  we are only going to Italy, and we are taking the train to move from 1 city to the next.  but train bookings are non-refundable, right?

No need for confirmed train bookings. Although I had some confirmed and paid train bookings so I submitted copies of those. But for some routes which I have no bookings, I just wrote:  train from A to B on the itinerary,  no problem naman.

^^ kami din, we did not submit confirmed train bookings for travel within Italy. But I put in the itinerary our target train schedule (ex: 8:15 train from Rome Termini to Napoli Centrale).
