Pasali ako dito :) Kasal narin kami sa Civil and we are currently planning a tagaytay wedding  by Feb 2018. Ano yung mga requirements na hindi na kailangan kapag tulad namin na kasal na sa civil? Thank you!

Yes, four months to go, planning our wedding overseas  ;D

^Same here!

We could be bummed not having really gotten firsthand experience on all of these pero we can choose to enjoy our "virtual" wedding planning. :)

@yn061515 - you need to have your civil wedding documented in the Philippine consulate where you reside (unless you got married in the Philippine consulate). You will need to pass your Report of Marriage document to your parish along with the other requirements. You need to process this earlier because it takes at least 6 months before your report of marriage to be released (according to the Philippine consulate personnel).  This document will be in lieu of your Marriage license. Since kasal na kayo, no need to apply for that.  For other requirements, you still need to inquire with the church where you will get married. Please take note that different dioceses have different requirements.  For other concerns, there is an "Overseas Bride" thread here, as well as "Wedding Documents" thread. Please backread. Thanks.

Hi @Missus O, Caleruega only asked for 2 things from us. 1) Husband's proof of religion 2)Precana proof
Buti na lang wala ng mga aasikasuhin pa sa consulate kasi malayo at ang hirap magpaalam from work. =)
Mas napaaga yung Church wedding namin, supposed to be Feb 14, 2018 pa pero Ash Wednesday daw kaya hindi nagkakasal sa Caleruega kaya sinunod nalang namin na same date ng civil wedding namin which would be on July 21, 2017. =)

^ Question sis, did you mention na you are married civilly  sa abroad? You might need to clarify that sis. Kasi I have a friend who got married in Calaruega as well. And they were also asked for the Report of Marriage. The Report of Marriage serves as your NSO certified Marriage Certificate, otherwise they will not have any proof na you have been married previously.

sis shyxiena - Let me share you our experience. My husband is 25 and I'm 23. We submitted a parent's advice. NOT parent's consent. Don't be confused with the 2. Parent's advice is just a paper with their signature, stating that they have a knowledge that their son/daughter is getting married. Ipapa notaryo nila yon sis kaya need nila ng appearance because they need to sign in the presence of the notary public. But not necessarily na kasama sila sa pag apply ng marriage license.

That paper is a requirement kapag nag apply ka ng marriage license. Hindi na nila kailangan sumama, kasi notaryado na yung Parent's advice. meaning nag personal appearance na sila.

Well that is in my case kasi. Not sure sa ibang municipality. Alam mo naman sa pinas, iba iba.

Hope I was able to help.  ;D

Hi sis hermione! Thanks for the reply :) Same age din kami sa inyo ni fiance so parents advice lang din kami sis :) Saan sis nagpapanotaryo? Isang paper lang ba isusulat ng mother ko na acknowledge siya for our marriage sis? Kasi hiwalay father at mother kaya ok narin kahit si mother lang kaya sis? Pati pa mother ni fiance need ng parents advice kahit 25 years old na siya sis?
How many day bago mo nakuha sis after 10 days din ready to pick up na sis and my seminar din sis? :)

shyxiena - sa notary public na mismo sis may ready na silang papel for parent's advice, ilalagay nalang name nyo ng fiancee mo saka names nila tapos pipirma na. Parang ganito Parent's Advice

Better to double check with your municipality. Saken kasi dalawa silang naka pirma.

11 working days from application. yung sa seminar naman, they are requiring us, pero sabi namen why we need that, e meron na kameng seminar from church, same lang naman yun. Ayaw nila pumayag pero nakiusap kame, so ayun tinanggap naman nila yung Pre-Cana certificate namen.

May I ask which country kayo? if dubai baka you can do the same ng ginawa namen. though mas magastos nga lang.

^^ 2 years ago, ganyan din dilemma namin ni husband. I was 23 and he was 25.
Buti nalang din noong umuwi kami supposed to be for the pamamanhikan, our parents agreed to have a civil wedding nadin. Tutal nasa Pilipinas kami parehas noon, mas madali naasikaso lahat. Dubai din kami before and I know how layo and how hassle it is to go to the embassy on a working day. Good luck on your preps dears! :)

Is it easier if you're already legally married?

@LilaFowler -  as we are based overseas, it was a tad easier as we didn't have to go home several weeks earlier to sort out our marriage license, and marriage banns. That's the only thing that we didn't have to do, otherwise, church requirements are the same. We did  go to the Philippine consulate to submit the Report of marriage once we received our marriage certificate. In saying this, I do need to include that the church we got married in, San Antonio de Padua in Silang Cavite, gave us a pretty reasonable list of requirements wherein we didn't have to go to any chancery office unlike other dioceses.

Is the marriage license/banns something that my coordinator can do for me?

Our situation is complicated. I'm Filipino but not a Filipino citizen. He's non-Filipino and divorced.

When I met with my coord it did not sound like it will be an issue. She said she will take care of all the paper work in Bohol, my Mom can take care of the paper work in Manila. She just asked us to come a couple of months ahead because the vicar requires a face to face interview.

^ @LilaFowler - if you are going home months in advance, then I suppose it won't be a problem, as you can be there personally to apply for your marriage license, and apply for your banns.  Those are the only requirements previously married people need to tick off their list when marrying in the Phils.

Your husband might need to present a Freedom to marry document. It might be better to ask the church directly so you'll have better information
My hubby is a US citizen, and I used to reside in London. At first the clergyman asked us for those documents and another one as I am UK PR,  but upon learning that we had been married civilly, and had been living together for a year, he dismissed it.
He then only asked for our Report of Marriage, and the rest of the church requirements (Report of Marriage, birth certificates, baptismal and  confirmation certificates, and our pre-cana certificate to be precise).

LilaFowler - i bet it will be. church docs will be the same, may mga additional lang na kailangan i submit like freedom to marry certificate. and it will be different from church to church.
