Walang assurance ang mundo. Id rather try and fail than not try at all. Isa pa sa negosyo kelangan mo mag take ng risk. Dahil hinde mo alam kung mananalo ka or matatalo.

My point is, we risk to win, not to lose. Who wants to lose ba? We make calculated risks not impulsive risks. And believing that your spouse will surely cheat without both of you doing anything, is risking to lose. But just like any other game, you can also lose.

If it's ok with you na yung bf mo, cheated you once or twice, at sya pa rin ang pinili mong pakasalan, then it's only you who is accountable for making that choice.

If your wayward boyfriend did not cheat for the rest of your married life, then consider yourself blessed beyond measure. But if he strayed again as a spouse, like what mooncake and leaves mentioned, stop complaining because you signed up for that probable situation. Pa marriage counseling na lang kayo or couples therapy or anything, married na kayo eh.

Quote from: snowflakes
Sakin lang lets be realistic. What if lahat na ginawa mo pero nagloko pa rin sino ba masasaktan sa sobrang pag eexpect na ang asawa nya eh di sha lolokohin kase she is doing this and that.

Is this a question or a statement? They are contradicting. So you mean, dahil may probability magloko ang husband mo no matter what you do, eh pakonti konti lang din yung gagawin mo for the relationship? So if it fails, ok lang kasi hindi mo naman ginawa best mo?

Self-improvement naman is a personal choice. No one is pushing anybody to work on themselves.

And personally, I will do my best, so if he cheated, I don't have myself to blame. Kasi ginawa ko na lahat ng alam ko, from continuous learning to applying things in our daily married life. But I'm still not perfect, so my husband should accept my shortcomings in between, ganon din ako sa kanya. If it didn't work, I will have no regrets in life.

In my humble opinion, lahat ng lalake may potential na magloko. My point is it takes two to tango.

Yes, of course men should do their part too. And it helps, kung sa dating stage pa lang, eh you know that this man will work with you till the end.

Other troubled marriages naman kulang lang sa couple/relationship skills yung both partners. So maganda, learn all you can about relationships and share it with your husband. As what I've mentioned sa tip number 5 ko, educate your husband. Tulungan naman ang marriage eh, as you said, it takes two to tango.

But if a wife is a nagger, judgmental, critical, domineering, of course wag umasa na magiging receptive ang husband. Or if a husband is a serial adulterer, sex addict, may mga unresolved sa issues sa buhay, psychological disorders, eh try to seek professional assistance.

Ang isa pinaka natatandaan ko na advise pra hindi magstray ang hubby/bf is to be the bestfriend, lover, and b**** all in one, for them.
So magpakalandi ka para sa kanya to keep his interest.

Just to share my experience early this year.

There was this girl na, naging friend ni hubby from his real estate review. Its been a year na since they last seen each other, but I know from time to time they do communicate.

And then, nung nabasa ko ang texts (yes, I read hubby's celfone), nagyayaya itong girl to meet over a cup of coffee twice just to have an update about each other. It's ok if it's a group meet up, but it's not.

And kung [textspeak!]-ano pa ang pinapatulong nitong girl. At first I just ignored the uneasiness I felt, knowing that this girl is already married and is a little older than my hubby. Until one time, nagpapaturo sya about something. And I simply cannot ignore it anymore.

And so I confronted my hubby, I told him, "Daddy, I'm not comfortable with your text messages with this girl and your friendship with her. Please cut it off. I noticed you returning her missed calls which you don't normally do to our other friends, why?" And when he only said, "I don't know," I asked him, "please stop it, it's making me uneasy. And don't teach her on whatever program it is."

Thankfully I didn't hear him, "She's just a friend, you're just paranoid, why will I write her off?" instead he said, "Sorry if it bothered you, ok I'll do what you ask me to." Then I immediately crossed her off my hubby's FB friends, LOL! Later on, hubby told me that he found out that I crossed her off, but he didn't really mind.

I don't care if it's just paranaoia, but I have to take action about what I feel. And because I just love sharing things/new learnings with him, I shared with him about what I posted in the previous page. If he crosses the line, then it's his decision as he already knew the black and white picture of an emotional affair.

We often wonder why good men cheat, sometimes they have established a good friendship with an opposite sex, they emotionally connect to each other, they will grow fond of each other's friendship, until they'll get addicted to each other's company and emotional intimacy, up to the point of covering their new found relationship with secrecy and lies.

To some husband's mind, he will really think if it's right or not, but then his rationalizations will make it become right until it feels right. His reason will tell him that they're not having physical contact anyways, they're just enjoying each other's company and emotional support. What's so bad about it? It's like there's an angel's voice and devil's voice. And more often than not, the devil's voice wins.

But then the electricity is too high, and one thing leads to another. There will still be an "urong sulong" in the husband's mind, but it was too strong to back out. And there, an emotional and sexual affair develops.

And as I was saying, one way to minimize the chance of infidelity to happen is to create a boundary between platonic friendships and strengthening marital friendship, You can read the book, "Not Just Friends," it's an excellent book on infidelity and was written by a marriage therapist who was specializing in infidelity.

But it's a different case when the husband is adulterer by nature or has deep emotional issues/baggages.

Paanokung mahal mo yung isang taong dating nambabae.

Kaya importante na maging makilatis. Hindi kahit sino nalang manligaw, i-entertain. One has to have a list of criteria, at syempre, bago mo maging boyfriend ang isang tao or bago mo mabuksan ang puso mo, dapat alamin muna ang background nya. Pero if we are always cautious and careful, puede syang maiwasan.

Walang assurance ang mundo. Id rather try and fail than not try at all. Isa pa sa negosyo kelangan mo mag take ng risk. Dahil hinde mo alam kung mananalo ka or matatalo. Walang assurance.

But there is such a thing called calculated risk.  Mag-g-gamble ka kung alam mo ang chances or probability of success is higher.  Otherwise, kung alam mong may risks, the only thing you have to do it mitigate it, prevent it, have a back up plan.

Sakin lang lets be realistic. What if lahat na ginawa mo pero nagloko pa rin sino ba masasaktan sa sobrang pag eexpect na ang asawa nya eh di sha lolokohin kase she is doing this and that.

Agree sis, kelangan dalawa kayo mag cooperate. Kaya nga I like the tips na pinost ni sis glamorosa about you 2 working as a team to build your relationship. Hindi lang ikaw.

But admittedly, there are guys talaga na nat-turnoff sa wives kung mataba na at pinabayaan ang sarili. Kaya kahit papano, kelangan malinis parin at itry magmaintain (di lahat naman ng guys, but most).

yes, this is true. everyone has the potential to cheat. however, there's a big difference between marrying someone with the full knowledge that he or she is capable of being unfaithful vs marrying someone you completely trust and having them disappoint you later on. with the first situation, the other person can easily tell you, hey, you knew this about me. you married me which means you accepted this fact about me. why are you complaining now? with the second one, you can always say, hey, this is not the person i married. it goes without saying that when you marry someone, you sign up for things you know and don't know but at least with the second one, you won't have yourself to blame.

teka, we are talking about marriage.  isn't it about promises to love each other solely at wala nang iba? kahit pa babaero si lalaki, once nagdecide sya magpakasal, hindi ba sya nagbibigay ng promise magiging tapat sya sa asawa nya?

“To love is to risk not being loved in return. To hope is to risk pain. To try is to risk failure, but risk must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to RISK NOTHING.
Well ang topic natin dito is how to prevent. Ang sagot ko lang naman nung una is MINSAN kahit anong gawin nating milagro at dasal kung magloloko eh wala kang magagawa kahit maglupasay ka pa jan. ngayon if husband mo na yan, pede mong patawarin for the sake of kids and LOVE. Kung ma pride ka, i divorce mo. Agad agad.
In that way, less effort diba?
Well, its your opinion, i respect that.

para sakin, every relationship is unique. so case to case basis.

you can be the perfect wife and still your husband strays.

it would be a stressful life kung all you do is to keep an eye on your husband.

para sakin, you just do your part, love your husband the way you naturally feel, learn how to adjust in situations, never forget to take care of yourself, continue to grow and improve yourself.

Sad to say, tinanong ko to sa sarili ko at sa ate ko : bakit ang tao nagpapakasal pa, naghihiwalay rin naman?

When i found out mister cheated on me, nawala talaga bilib ko sa power of love and marriage. Siguro if i learned earlier about my mister's infidelity when we were not married yet, malamang nagpaka oldmaid na lang ako. In short, we both did our best to work things out and of course taking the good advices of our parents. I never thought i will be healed. Ang ate ko kasi, annulled na. Pero yung case nila, different from ours. I'd say it's better off that way kasi mukhang wala naman na talagang pag asa. Some marriages are really not meant to be. I'm just so thankful to God that both i and mister are doing our best to make our marriage work. Mas nag eeffort sya kesa sa akin. Pero ewan ko lang rin. If gawin nya siguro ulit yun, i might not give him another chance.

i don't see it as ironic. i think it's normal to promise a bunch of things if you need/want something from a person. of course, people naman promise loyalty and oftentimes, they themselves believe it to be true. :)

I would agree na sobrang stressful magbantay ng adult.  ;D  Lalo na yung mga magaling magtago. Imagine the stress at wala ka nang ibang nagawa.

That's why we have to choose right, do things right.  And I still believe, na puede parin ma prevent ang pagloloko ng asawa in some case. Pero there are some cases talaga na wala nang pag asa and in those instances, one has to learn how to walk out gracefully.

For me, the best way to keep your husband from straying is to be his best friend as well as his lover. Kasi if he sees you as both, he will never go to another woman for comfort, kahit na gaano pa yon ka-sexy at kaganda. Also give him the freedom to do what he wants, for example, go out w/ his friends on a Friday night or something like that. Men need some time for themselves also. I learned the hard way before, had a rocky marriage but after me and my husband sought counseling our marriage is now better. We are now almost 10 years married.  :)

eto naman story ko...need some advice too...

me and my partner since hindi pa naman kami kasal but we live together na for 3 years.....

pag makita mo kami is bestfriends talaga kami si partner hindi likas na sweet na tao...we do things together and support each other...

@snowflakes

I respect naman your personal opinions, and I do not do personal attacks. If you felt I attacked you, then I apologize for that. For me, the debates/arguments made in this forum are for the readers to weigh and not meant to disrespect anyone's personal takes.

And as for you telling me I'm sigurista, ok lang sakin yun. I always discern talaga whenever I find myself in a crossroad. Most of the times, it pay off. And that's just me. Ang motto ko lang naman sa buhay ay, "Do your best and God will do the rest," "Do what you can do, and God will do what you can't do."

Of course we should pray for our marriage and our spouse din na ilayo sila sa mga ganyang tukso.

^ I agree, minsan wala naman talagang malisya sa umpisa. Even yung wife, ok lang din because she trusts her husband so much. Kaso sa panahon ngayon, with our environment, minsan nahuhulog nalang ang loob ng isang tao sa iba because of situations.  But if both husband and wife are aware of this, and also are out there to protect their  relationship, mas malaking chance maging successful ang marriage nila.

Some emotional affairs nowadays begin from innocent and platonic friendships. So in addition to the tips above, here are my suggestions:

1. Talk to your husband about creating boundaries around his friendships with the opposite sex.

HOW?

 - Avoid receiving and giving counsels on relationship and personal problems. Some things are best discussed with you (the wife) and not with a friend of the opposite sex.

 - Avoid enjoying, experiencing and spending time together on the same interests and hobbies with a friend of the opposite sex.

 - Avoid making his friend his best friend, because you (the wife) should be his only best (girl) friend. One cannot give an equal loyalty to both people.

WHY?

Because these things when repeated several times with only one person, may lead to emotional intimacy. And emotional intimacy, when unchecked, may lead to an emotional affair. Remember, in marriage, we vowed for both physical and emotional exclusivity with our partners.

And as they say, precautions are better than cure. And just like a drug, I won't take a single taste of it for the fear of getting addicted.

I have this dilemma.  I had a past, one and only ex bf/hubby that cheated on me, big time.  So definitely ayaw ko na maulit.  Now that I have started dating again, I am very cautious and careful about it. Last year, I started dating a guy exclusively then kami na now.

Kaso just recently, may nangyari na parang ganito.  So lahat ng alarm inside me parang lumabas,  nagp palpitate ako and everything seems to come back na iniisip ko, ayaw ko maulit yung naulit sakin before.

At the same time, I also do not want to exaggerate things.

How do you strike a balance?

Ito yung story, please bear with me.  He met his long time old neighbor sa lift pauwi from gym.  Nagkayayaan magdinner. He texted me that he will be having dinner with a friend. Sabi ko ok, what's for dinner.  Favorite food daw nya na matagal na nya di natitikman. Nakauwi sya 1130pm, tapos ng gym nya was 8pm.

Of course nung nakauwi na sya tinext nya ulit ako. And that's the only time I learned babae yung "friend" nya na old neighbor nga nila. They went to a resto near their old place na medyo mas malayo kesa sa inuuwian pa ni bf. Kako di naman sila lumalabas nung magkapitbahay sila before, bakit bigla now?  Tapos he would go out of his way pa to have dinner with her?  The girl is single by the way na school teacher.

Sabi nya sorry, hindi na nya gagawin, it was just an innocent dinner, hindi nya alam magagalit ako.

I do not see the point of a single girl having a 3-hr dinner with a guy kung alam ng girl may gf yung guy at school teacher pa man din sya. Kako bilang babae, hindi ko ginagawa iyan at never ko pa ginawa iyan maliban kung may gusto ako sa lalaki at alam kong both kami available. Sabi ko - so either she is a flirt or sinabi mo available ka.

Naiinis ako and for some reason, hindi ko alam bakit hindi ko maalis ang inis ko.

^understandable ang na feel mo sis as I'd be feeling the same way if I was in your shoes. Why didnt your bf specified na its a female neighbor pala  :( 3 hour dinner, were they that close? that they need that much time to catch up? I told hubby na that's a big no no talaga to go out alone with the opposite sex unless she's his relative.

Good to know though that he said sorry at di na mauulit. Precaution is really better than cure. Women needs to be vigilant all the time.

parang signs ng anxiety sis. have you been counseled in anyway? alam ba ng guy na ito about your past so he can better take care of you?

for me ha, ang isang tao dapat may male and female friends. hindi healthy kung puro ka-gender lang natin ang kasama natin. pero this guy wala naman siya history ng cheating sa loob ng one year ninyo diba? huwag mo hayaan maging baggage mo yung bad experiences mo before, start fresh. compromise lang siguro parang walang mga duda.

Thanks for replying mga sis.

But is it ok to have lunch/dinner na kayong 2 lang?  In your case, babae tayo, with a guy officemate na 2 lang kayo?  I used to think ok lang. Pero does it not open avenues of familiarization, and later on baka magka develop-an?  Exagg naman kung ganyan lagi ang iniisip?

As for guy friends for wives and girl na friends for hubbies, ok lang magkaron ng friends as a group. Pero kung 2 lang kayo, opposite genders, at hayaan mo ngayon, I am sure mauulit at mauulit yun, does it not put the relationship at risk?

Siguro officemates, yes, hi and hello. Pero yun tipong magkakakayayaan manood ng sine or do something outside of work, never. Kaya I cannot imagine how it happens ba.  Who invites.
