Glad to know that more and more people are becoming more financially aware. I really hope they would include financial education in our school curriculum.

kailangan lang talaga ng will power when it comes to saving. for me, effective lang pag may goal ako. like now, we are saving up for our wedding and house. talagang mega tipid and hindi talaga nagagalaw yung "savings". unlike before, saving for the sake of having savings - hindi effective for me :( sana soon magawa ko rin 'to para may emergency fund or something. mahirap din kasi talaga yung walang nakatabi.

thanks for the tips :)

^ Kaya mo yan!!! So parang eto na yung first step habang hindi pa kayo kasal. ;-)

I have a minimalist lifestyle.
Kaya hindi ako magastos sa mga gamit, damit, and even food (kung sa bahay kakain)

Pero once na lumabas kasi ako...
Ang hilig ko bumili ng pagkain. Haha!

one of the things that work for me siguro is when i want something, I just note it down tapos i schedule kung kelan ko bibilin. I refuse to buy something just because I have extra money.

if my nagustuhan akong items like shoes or bags

May website ba, or Facebook page, that announces all sales in the metro? It compiles all the sales, discounts, of different stores and restos. Super laking help din nun for someone like me haha.

Edit to add: Found it, Manila on Sale.

Meron pa bang iba?

^ agree

i also lie low on forums and online shopping if i don't want to spend.
instead of leaving money on my bank account/atm, i put it in long term savings or insurance

Have you heard of "Kurot and Dukot Method?".

When I found out about Kurot and Dukot Method mas malaki ang natitipid ko.

So if I want something lalo na alam kung luho lang yan, dapat kurot lang yon from our income.

I've also read RICH DAD POOR DAD , that book really changed my life! then I also started to read books about investing and mutual funds  .. hindi na ako masyadong maluho simula nun

I am a shopaholic, retail therapy has been my answer every time I feel stressed out and depressed. Before I know it, my financial health is already negative. I used to pay all my CCs in full amount, then I just woke up one day that I could not anymore. Then I realized, I had to fix my problem already. I'm sure papagalitan ako ng parents ko if they find out my spending habits and debts incurred in my CCs. Good thing my CC bills are electronic :P

What I did was strictly follow the rule: INCOME- Savings = Expenses. Yes, I've read somewhere kasi that even if you have debts, it is mandatory to also start saving because it gives you that control over yourself and a little motivation that you are already managing your finances well.So right after payday, I transfer online my "savings" for that month, so that it is secured already.

And the priority now goes to paying up my incurred CC debts using the snowball method.

To also keep track of the expenses, you can use the apps such as Wally (free in ios), debt monitor app (for those with cc debts or loan payments, also in ios) and even the home budget app (for your home expenses, esp if you are living alone).

I also try my hardest not to go to any mall (probably limit myself), so that I won't be haunted by new stuff ( be it clothes, shoes, bags etc), imagine the movie, confessions of a shopaholic :)

You can also try the envelope system, it really works! So after getting your salary, you divide the amount into the following respective categories:
1. Envelope 1 - Emergency Fund  ( should account for 3-6 months of your expenses)
2. Envelope 2 - Savings
3. Envelope 3 - Everday Fund ( your expenses on a daily basis)
4. Envelope 4-  Enjoyment Fund
5. Envelope 5 - Spiritual Fund (if you do practice tithing)

You can customize your envelope names to suit your own needs :) Or if your techie, then you could just transfer the amount online to your respective bank accounts.

:)

^Was in your situation before Sis regarding CCs

I had 4 CCs that I had to pay monthly.  Hindi naman maximum naabot, but every month paying the minimun of 100Dhs per month is still 400Dhs di ba? and walang effect sa cc balance.

Once I got the new salary package yun ang inuna ko.  I think at one time I was paying around 3000Dhs per month.  Buti na lang at that time wala akong Personal loan and Car loan.  Ang ginawa ko is to pay the highest amount sa pinakamaliit na balance.  I was able to pay everything in a year.  Best feeling ever ang walang binabayarang CC.  Now kelangan kada-kaskas, bayad agad bago mag due date.
