Yung work ko before malapit sa mall kaya ginagawa ko before umuwi nag gogrocery ako. Kesa lumabas ako ng weekend which is sayang pa sa transpo, pati damit na gagamitin mo kaya ganon lagi ko ginagawa.

Buying bulk is still one of my best strategies to save.  Not only they last for a month.  They carry huge discount as opposed to buying tingi like cooking oil, washing machine detergent, suka, toyo in 1 liters.  I only go to groceries once a week for veggies.  Sometimes, I buy fish good for two weeks as well as meat then I freeze them.  I just defrost pag lulutuin na.  In that way, even if I don't leave my house, I can still cook at tipid sa pamasahe.

kami ni hubby once a month naggo-grocery (toiletries, sabong panlaba, etc.) pero daily sa palengke kasi malapit lang kami. take note rin 2 lang kami and 1 housekeeper so hindi masyado nago-occupy ng shelves/space sa bahay yung mga items. kahit i-taxi naman oks lang kasi once a month lang.

for damit naman, mid-range items are ok for me, mas panatag ako sa bumili sa mall kasi alam ko i can return the item kapag may problema, at kapag may nabilan ako sa isang shop na panget ang quality, i know not to buy there anymore. chaka mas malapit kami sa mall kesa sa divi/tiangge.

once a month lang ang grocery.  palengke is weekly for meats at daily naman para sa gulay. may talipapa kasi right outside the subdivision kaya mas ok na bumili ng gulay daily doon. fresh lagi kaysa i-tambak sa ref.

malaki ang tipid kung once a month lang ang grocery kasi kasama na doon ang gala ng kids.  makaka-tipid din ng around 500 to 1k on food, tom's world token, gas at time.

Twice a month ang pag grocery namin, since bonding din namin family ang pagrocery, then I used to buy maramihan kaso parang hindi natitipid naubos din before a month so I buy na sakto lang mas natitipid pa kasi hindi sila makakapag aksaya, that one works for us. Sa veggies sa wholesaler kami bumili laki ng tipid. Sa meat sa mall kami bumili sure na malinis.

Gusto ko makatipid sa tubig. I'm thinking of buying another tank, tapos yung tubig na dumadaloy sa may bubong, didirekta dun. I wonder nga lang paano sya mangyayari. As of the moment kasi, we used to put pails dun sa water chains namin. Kaso napupuno sya kapag malakas ulan. Sayang nga e. Di ko naman ma-itransfer, lahat ng drams namin dito,puno na ng tubig.

I'm also thinking yung nakita ko dati sa isang website (forgot the URL), kung saan nakadugtong ang sink ng cr dun sa toilet. So whenever magflush ka, kumukuha sya ng tubig na naggaling dun sa sink.

Any tips on how makatipid sa tubig? :-)

May gripo lang sa baba ng tank para 'pag gagamit sila ng tubig, bubuksan nalang nila ang gripo. And I think may screen sa mouth ng tank para ang tubig na mapupunta doon, hindi nasasamahan ng mga kung [textspeak!]-anong dumi.

May gripo lang sa baba ng tank para 'pag gagamit sila ng tubig, bubuksan nalang nila ang gripo. And I think may screen sa mouth ng tank para ang tubig na mapupunta doon, hindi nasasamahan ng mga kung [textspeak!]-anong dumi.

Siguro 'yong screen na gagamitin, 'yong sobrang liit na butas nalang para hindi makapasok ang kahit na anong insects. Yung parang silk-screen ang dating. Hehe.

Sobrang nalungkot ako at naubos lahat ng savings ko mula ng magpatreat ako ng tmj pero ngayong mejo nakakabawi nako magstart ulit ako magsave..

1. I still live with my parents and hati kami sa gastos ng kuya ko though mas malaki share niya lol
2. Kung ano yung ulam sa bahay yun na yung baon ko para makatipid sa pagkakn
3. We don't do groceries, mostly palemgke kasi mas mura and kapag suki ka mas magiging mura pa lalo yung bili mo sa mga pagkain..
4. Bigas namin is free kasi sa company ni kuya meron kaming monthly rations so laking tipid narin..
5. We switched our lights to energy saving bulbs.. Lakas kumain kuryente ng halogen
6. I walk to and from work instead of taking tricycle
7. I opened an easy savers account sa bpi dito ko lahat iniipon para mangjinayang ako magwithdraw because of the 5 peso fee

May tanong lang ako mga sis... is it really good to keep piggy banks?
Kung may barya ka, ihuhulog mo doon at the end of the day?

Kasi hindi mo malalaman kung magkano na pera doon eh.
Hindi kaya mas okay kung up to the last cent eh you keep track of where your money goes?
As in naka-hati na ang lahat ng pera mo kung saan mapupunta para mas aware ka kung magkano na ba talaga ang naipon mo.

And I don't count the last cent. Matrabaho kasi for me.

I always rely on a budget instead. Kung ano ang sobra sa budget - all of it goes to the piggy bank.

If piggy bank gets big - it goes to its savings account (yep, may sariling savings account akong na-open para dito).

That savings account and piggy bank is used for gifts, donations and other "expenses" of similar nature.

Some saving tips that I also apply to myself:

1. Pay yourself first - Commit to saving a % of your gross monthly income. What most people do is they save what's left after expenses. Should be the other way around.

2. Have 1 month living expense in your checking account. Ex: If your monthly living expense is P25,000, you need to have that amount on the first day of the month.

3. Build an emergency fund - Ideally 6 to 8 months living expense. This should be in your savings account. So if your monthly living expense is P25K, you need to have P150K - P200K in your savings. If you're into investing, you may want to put this in a money market account.

4. Pay off your debt - Personally, I don't carry a balance in my credit cards. I pay them all off every month. If you have other debts, prioritize paying them.

5. After you're done savings for emergency, save for other goals like house, car, college fund for kids, retirement, vacation. For goals like house and car, decide whether you want to finance that through a bank and how much your downpayment would be. Work on savings for the down payment. For retirement and college fund, explore your local investment options.

6. Invest - Educate yourself about investing. Learn about index and active funds, bonds, money market,
balanced funds, stocks, international fund, etc.

It goes by at least a couple other names, but we call it rainwater harvesting. I also do this in my home. Saves us a significant amount sa water bills.

And no, it's not a mosquito breeding ground dahil essentially closed ang setup ng system namin at regularly nagagamit ang tubig kaya hindi naiimbak ng matagal.

Correct. You should consider to close the lalagyan, bubuksan mo lang kapag umuulan ng malakas or paulan pa lang.  ;-)

Medyo sad ako ngayon, dahil nagkakamatay mga sili plants namin sa munting hardin. Yung kalamansi plant din namin nangamatay din. I guess dahil sa lupa. May mga something siguro sa lupa kaya namamatay sila. :-( I'm thinking to put them to larger pots na lang. Hayzzz. Start from scratch ulet. :-(
