thanks for your input sis. minsan nagbabaon ako, and like some of our sissies here, nakakasawa din so i buy lunch sometimes. good thing parang may canteen sa pantry sa office so mura lang yung food. i also try to mix and match and good thing din hindi hilig sa fashion mga ka-officemates ko so hindi ako na-ppressure bumili ng new clothes. hindi ko naman ginugutom sarili ko or what. i think na-miss ko lang yung shopping. wala na akong pambili ng makeup ko. lol

it's a nice idea -- to treat yourself once you've reached a goal. i opened another bpi save up for this. hehe

^^ nalakihan ako sa 5% sis. in-increase ko to 3% nalang. haha. same tayo sis, yung goal ko din is to save 60% of my salary. nalulungkot kasi ako pag nakikita kong mas malaki yung expenses ko kesa savings.

eto tip ko sa mga sis natin: make a budget in excel and stick to it. i-allocate nyo every centavo ng income nyo(you can search more on zero-based budgeting), i added a % column so i'd know if na-reach ko goal ko. during pay day, i always transfer my money from my payroll account to my other accounts (like insurance, investments, etc) and the remaining balance in my ATM is only for my expenses. i also breakdown all of my expenses para malaman ko if i spent way over my budget na.

also, when saving, don't put everything in a normal savings account. if low yung tolerance mo sa risk, you can try bond fund or money market. trust me, it will help protect your money from inflation. sadly most people don't realize this. nakakalungkot isipin yung pinag-ipunan ng ilang taon eh kakainin lang ng inflation.

sis, how much po ba ina-allocate nyo for your fun fund? i assume this is for shopping, travel, etc. feeling ko kasi sinasakal ko sarili ko. 1% lang budget ko dito based from my salary. 

My weekly fun fund doesn't exceed P1000. Yung weekly fun fund, kain lang sa resto, going to places and just enjoying amusements sa mall. Hindi rin kasama ang gasoline expenses doon moving around the city.

I allot separate budget for shopping (when I shop, may budget rin, and this is just restricted to needs lang ako such as clothes, accessories) and travel. All these are mapped in my excel file. Sa bank account sama-sama naman ang mga ito which I call the Sinking Fund. Oh, and there's no definite budget for this. For example kung local place lang ang gusto kong puntahan, then I just put in a budget amount which is usually small, pero kung overseas ang gusto ko then I will just have to put in a budget amount which is high.

Pag may debt lang ako, saka sobrang tipid to the max ako para mabayaran. Basic essentials lang. Once na na-clear na ang debt saka ako medyo relaxed na ang budget ko.

I plan to do DIY sa mask na ginagamit sa facials. I realized I could save more. Yung mask ang nagpapamahal naman kasi sa price ng Facials which ranges above P700 to over a P1000. Application of mask is recommended pa naman per week.

So if I do DIY, yung facial with pricking na lang ang papagawa ko when needed. This service will cost me less than P500.

So far na-DIY ko na yung sa hair maintenance. I keep on applying coconut/olive oil + deep conditioner per week. It's working fine.

^same here sis DIY narin sa haircare and I rarely go for facials so okay lang. I still go for mani pedi though, that's a thing I cant let go yet, specially pedi.

^^Ako din may phase ako na na DIY when I was still in college and I had all the time in the world. Pag nagwowork na kasi ang hirap lalo na super hectic ang schedule sa work. I still try to do pakonti konting DIY. I usually do my own body scrub, facial scrubs and foot scrub mixtures, pati hair hot oil. I try to do DIY mani pedi rin pero ang hirap so what I do is buy my own polish and nail tools then I hire yung manikurista ng lola ko to do my nails. Mas mura kasi labor lang, like 50 pesos to 100 lang. teehee

Hay superthankful talaga ako sa thread na eto. Actually sa Girltalk for inspiring me to SAVE SAVE SAVE. Before, super gasturera ako. Self ko lang parati iniisip ko until napadpad ako dito sa GT. since then hobby ko na ang magbasa about how to save tips and other pov sa finances. it has been my routine every morning to open the pc and browse GT. Im proud now na nakaipon na ako kahit papaano and be able to send myself for further study and pay for my brother's tuition. Hopefully tuloy tuloy na eto.
Nagstart talaga from baon sa utang. thankfully nalagpasan ko yun. These are the tips na really help me:
1. Live within your means. Lifestyle change talaga. No more gimiks for me kasi gastos masyado and i think graduate na ako sa stage na yun. 
2. Track your expenses. I record daily my expenses. Tama na makita mo saan mapunta ang nagagastos mo para you will be cautious on spending
3. Compare price lalo na sa grocery.
4. Income-Saving-Expenses. Sound redundant but it is really true.
5. Be a blessing to others. Hundredfolds and balik nun.
6. Umiwas sa mga taong gastador. kasi mapapagastos ka rin.

Almost missed this.

I got the DIY facial mask recipes from googling. Sa YouTube rin meron. All with the use of natural ingredients depende sa skin type.

- I color/highlight my own hair (saves me about $100)
- I do my own mani and pedi ( saves me $60 for both, regular price)
- I do my own facial/ body scrub ( egg white for facial/ brown sugar and neutrogena oil combined for body scrub)
- I cook hubby's lunch 5days a week but I let him buy food too if I don't get to cook sometimes. We eat out once in a while whenever I get burnt out in the kitchen
- I hardly use credit card unless we're out and about because euro exchange rate is better on my CC than my debit card
- We get free supply of milk, eggs, cereals, tuna from my friend who is on WIC program cause they have oversupply
- I plan on buying a sewing machine and start making my own dress, skirts, curtains and everything else I can make
- I make sure hubby transfers money in the savings account every time he gets paid, it's a MUST. Doesn't matter how much as long as there's something.

Another tipid tip, try to clean your closet. You'll never know there are several stuffs there na pwede mo gamitin or ipamigay na. Then, you can buy a new one in Ukay to mix and match those items na meron ka na.

Never tried DIY facial dahil bihira din ako pumunta sa mga Facial centers. but this will be in my TO DO list na din, tumatanda na din and going to 30s. I need to take care of myself. :-)

Hindi ako mahilig sa tea but will share na lang what did my mom and dad doing. We have a guyabano tree sa backyard and they've heard na maganda daw ang guyabano tea. They make their own tea. Punta lang kami sa bakod para kumuha ng mga dahon, pakuluan ang dahon, and presto, may tea ka na. Sarap pala nya. :-)

Instead of having a Jollibee or any other b-day party for our kids, we just go out of town for their bday.  Within Luzon area lang, like Batangas, Zambales, Galera, etc

Magkasunod lang kasi ang bday ng kids ko.  So instead of having a party na i-invite ang mga kaibigan at kamag-anak na sila lang ang nasiyahan habang ikaw ay ngarag sa pag-aasikaso sa bisita, we plan 3D-2N out of town outings.

WHY?

1.  We want the bday to be unique.
2.  We want to celebrate their bday in an intimate setting.
3.  We like touring.
4.  A birthday party celebration would set you back 10K minimum on Jollibee.  Mas mahal pa kung sa bahay mag-papaluto, kasi may pagkakataon ang mga lalaki na mag-inuman.  A 3D-2N out of town costs the same.

Last April, we did the Subic-Zambales-Anawangin tour.  The kids love the Dolphin & Seal Show at Ocean Adventure.  They were excited and hyped for the Zoobic Night Safari.

After that, we drove straight to Zambales and did the boat ride and tour at Anawangin cove.

This had became a tradition that started with a 3D-2N stay at Puerto Galera when they were only 3 & 4yrs old.  Last year, we were at Eagle's Point Resort in Batangas.

By combining our budget for the kids bday and the once a year out of town budget, we we're able to save more.

^ That's a very nice tip. Ganyan na rin nga ang gagawin ko sa birthday celebrations sa amin - kids, me... etc. So one big party celebration tapos sabay travel na rin. Matipid nga! I'll also just tag close friends na lang - in my situation kasi malalayo ang relatives.

i also believe na kung gusto mo makatipid pag birthday ng anak mo, wag mo gawin sa bahay. mas mapapalaki pa gastos mo plus pagod pa.

^---one big reason why we don't do those party party for birthday... the celebration should be for the kids and not the adults to just show off...

we also kept pictures and memorabilia's of the tour so the kids never forget them

Meron kaming paluwagan sa team sa office pero sa December pa ang sweldo naming lahat. Lahat ng nakokolekta every payday ay nasa UITF nakainvest. Tipid kami ngayon pero bongga sa pasko! Plus di na namin magagalaw ang 13th month pay! Haha

Sis pareho tayo dito! I have 3 kids yung 2 magkasunod ang birthday so we just go out of town, mas memorable, mas gusto ng mga bata. Hindi ko rin hilig magpa-party. yung first at seventh year lang ang pinagpa-party namin. Minsan nga the seventh hindi na rin. Ibang tao lang ang masaya. Nakakapagod, pag may di natuwa sa handa mo may pintas ka pa. Pag may di nakumbida, may magtatampo pa. Ang ginagawa namin either travel or mamili ang anak namin ng gift. Masaya pa kaming lahat. The older kids, nagre request ng pizza for the whole class or for set of friends lang nila sa school. Malaki matitipid if we minimize parties na di naman talaga kailangan.
