Ewan ko kung may nag-post na nito, pero doon sa mga nag-aabang ng PSIF ng ALFM (BPI), apparently they've been accepting new subscriptions since December 2, 2013.

Bili na.  :D

^I wanted to open FAMI account, too, but since I'm abroad I wanted to scan the forms first and then send the original documents once they confirm that they're okay. 10 days, 2 emails and still no reply from FAMI.  :(

have you tried calling their office? naka-ilang inquire ako bago pumunta sa office nila and mabilis naman sila sumagot.

^^^ na-process ba kaagad sis?

naiinis na ako sa BPI. 3 weeks ago pa yung application ko tapos wala pang update hanggang ngayon. i went to their branch kanina pero yung tinext sakin na account number is existing account number sa ALFM money market ko, eh growth fund yung in-apply ko. yung telephone numbers nila either busy, or walang sumasagot. sayang yung oras talaga. thinking of switching to FAMI or philequity.

@artificial star,

All of your mutual fund investments have just one account number
so your ALFM Growth Fund's account number would be the same
as your ALFM Money Market Fund's account number.

Did you specifically ask for an account number? Because if so,
then the branch did nothing wrong.

^ i asked for an update. Sabi kase ng kausap ko nung december sa manila raw yung processing at ini-encode pa daw yung application ko and madededuct lang yung initial investment from my settlement account number(which is what i expected kasi ganito yung process when i applied for money market)I know na pwede mag-invest sa other mutual fund under one account(diba there is this option to subscribe to other mfs even if it's not the same as your existing mf account) Pero yung purpose ko sana is to have separate accounts so i can monitor my gains/loss for each mf. I clarified this with her, asking if i will receive a different account number, she said yes.  :-\ I was expecting na once ma.enroll ko yung growrh fund, dalawang investment accounts ang mag-aappear when i log in sa EOL. I even informed them that i have an existing mf account with them. They could have just told me that pareho lang yung account #. When i went to the branch kanina, sabi naman ng other employee na ako daw mismo yung magsubscribe kaya hindi daw nadededuct. Ang gulo nila in fairness.

Based on what I see, yes it should be
possible to have multiple mutual fund
accounts.

I do not see why you would need separate
accounts though if your main purpose is
just to monitor your gains and losses
for each fund. You can do that even with
just one account.

If however you have say the following:
Emergency Fund
Retirement Fund

And you are invested in BPI's Equity Fund
in both Emergency and Retirement Funds and
you want to track the performance per
account and not per fund.

Then yes, you would need separate accounts.

I do that btw.. I have a Short Term Fund
in my Emergency Fund and 2 BTID(Buy Term
Invest the Difference).

I use Quicken to mimic having separate
accounts.

I guess you went to the branch even though
you already had a mutual fund account precisely
because you wanted to open another one?

I remember when I opened my mutual fund account
I had to accomplish a withdrawal slip and
it was basically an OTC(Over the Counter) withdrawal
from my settlement account.

I don't know why your account wasn't deducted on the
get go.. weird.

Thanks for the reply bro. I didn't know pwede pala ma-track yung performance per fund kahit nasa isang account lang. Pero yes, I like to have separate accounts for my Emergency Fund, Retirement Fund, just in case diba if I add other investments for these funds.

Re: ALFM mutual fund account number

I'm not really sure if this addresses the issue raised, pero baka makatulong... I don't have ALFM mutual funds, but I do have BPI UITFs which appear under the same online system.

The Portfolio (or opening) page of your BPI's online access show your different account types with the bank.  I have 2 kinds of UITFs with them but the values of both are combined under just one account number.  If I want to see the separate values of those two UITFs, here's what I do:

1.  On the line showing the UITF account information, I hover he pointer to the column named "more options".

2.  New options will appear.  I click "view account details"

3.  On the resulting page, I tick the radio button named "view my investment account portfolio"

4.  The resulting page will show the separate values of my 2 UITFs and the net gains/losses of each.

Now that's for UITFs.  But I believe that it's the same process for ALFM accounts.  You don't really need to have separate account numbers for each fund type just to monitor their respective performances.

@Mr. Punch
I have both UITF and Mutual Fund and you're correct. They work the same way.

Like I said, the only reason you'd want a separate account is if you have the same
fund, let's say ALFM Growth Fund split into two or more "Goals" like College Fund
and Travel Fund.

So you can monitor how your Growth Fund that is allocated to the College Fund
is doing and the one allocated to your Travel Fund... separately

@ artificialstar, have you tried emailing BPI? Their customer service reps
might be able to help you better than your local branch people...

thank you ^ & ^^

yes, i have emailed them already. they said they have directed my concern to the designated people. sabi nila i can also check the status of my concern after 3 banking days. :) this experience actually opened my eyes to try other mutual fund companies (better kasi yung performance ng SALEF, but hindi ako sure kung gaano ka convenient yung online facility nila, which is a very good feature ng BPI)

It depends on your entry price.

I've been investing in BDO's Equity Fund since late 2010 and to date
its peformance is at 17% p.a.

BPI's Equity Index Fund on the other hand which I only started investing
in on Oct 2013 is at -27% p.a. ouch!

^ That's why it's always wise not to put all your eggs in one basket.  :)  Pero manalig na rin tayo...malay mo gumanda performance ng BPI Equity fund this year, haha

By the way, meron bang site ang Philippine mutual funds, same as UITFs have www.uitf.com.ph?
